Chapter 27: Don't force yourself to act
Lu Yanchuan reached out and grasped her hand that was covering his mouth, but did not remove it.
Shen Li felt the warmth of his lips in her palm, her pupils contracted sharply, and she froze.
“…Shut up!” Shen Li paused for a few seconds, then quickly withdrew her hand and frowned.
But the warmth in her palm seemed to never disappear, and Shen Li couldn't help but clench her fist, her fingertips curling into her palm and gently tapping it.
In order to let that mysterious burning sensation dissipate as quickly as possible.
Lu Yanchuan wasn't annoyed by her words; he just pursed his lips.
His handsome face usually had a detached expression, and every detail of his expression exuded an air of aloofness and nobility.
At this moment, his thin lips twitched slightly, making his refined and handsome face appear even more vivid.
"Just telling the truth." Lu Yanchuan clicked his tongue. "Aren't you a ceramic artist? Doesn't it hurt your eyes to look at ugly things?"
"I didn't ask you to come," Shen Li thought to herself.
Hearing this, Shen Li said irritably, "I think you're more of an eyesore."
Upon hearing this, Lu Yanchuan's eyes curved slightly. "Really? I don't believe it."
He had every right to disbelieve; after all, his looks would easily outshine anyone else's.
Shen Li didn't have time to argue with him, and simply said, "This place isn't very interesting, so don't waste your time. Let's go back to the hotel first, and I'll wander around a bit more before heading back."
She turned to walk inside, but before she could even turn around, she heard the man's footsteps following her in.
Shen Li felt a bit of a headache, but there was nothing she could do, since she hadn't organized the trade fair.
If Lu Yanchuan wants to come in, he can naturally come in.
Shen Li tried to ignore him and focused on her own things, browsing through the various booths.
Once she focused on her work, she stopped paying attention to the man.
When Shen Li finished writing and drawing in the booklet, he finally closed it.
Only then did they realize that Lu Yanchuan had disappeared.
"Have they already left?" Shen Li blinked, just about to leave the trade fair.
I noticed that there was some activity in front of some of the stalls over there.
Shen Li glanced at it casually, and her gaze froze.
Lu Yanchuan was tall, almost 1.9 meters, and his imposing presence made him hard to ignore even when he was bent over.
He was bending over in front of a small stall, his long, slender fingers fiddling with the trinkets on display.
He seemed nonchalant.
Shen Li quickly quickened her pace and went over!
As soon as I got closer, I heard Lu Yanchuan's deep, resonant voice speaking casually.
He gently tapped this side of the stall with his long, slender fingers, "From here..."
Then, he gently tapped on the other side of the stall, saying, "I want them all here."
Shen Li quickly rushed over and pressed his hand down. She smiled apologetically at the stall owner, "Sorry, we'll come back later."
She pulled Lu Yanchuan aside, her voice low and husky, which sounded somewhat urgent at this moment.
It did add a touch of vibrancy to the scene. "Lu Yanchuan, stop messing around!"
Lu Yanchuan raised an eyebrow and narrowed his eyes as he looked at her.
Shen Li said, "Don't be fooled by the small size of that stall; it sells all so-called rare and unique items, and they're incredibly expensive! Why did they even sweep up the stalls..."
If she had arrived any later, she would have been stuck with all those items. A single item could easily have cost over three digits.
Lu Yanchuan raised an eyebrow. "It's much better looking than those ugly things from before. I'll buy it for you to play with."
Shen Li was extremely helpless, lest this man get bored and do something she never expected.
Shen Li grabbed his wrist and walked him out of the exhibition hall.
But halfway through, he flipped her hand over and held it in his palm.
Shen Li's eyes widened slightly. Although her expression and movements did not change much, there was a fleeting stiffness in her back.
Zhou Yan was waiting outside in his car.
After getting in the car, it drove away from the trade fair.
When Shen Li realized what was happening, she found that this was not the way back to the hotel.
She blinked. "Where are we going?"
“Lancheng,” Lu Yanchuan said.
"But my luggage..."
"Zhou Yan has packed everything for you and checked out," Lu Yanchuan said. "Are you addicted to staying at that shabby hotel?"
Shen Li had no objections, and the car drove towards Lancheng.
After entering Lancheng, they did not go to the hotel, but stopped in front of a building.
Shen Li stared at the words "Ceramic Museum" for a moment, her gaze lingering.
"We've arrived." Lu Yanchuan got out of the car first.
Seeing that she didn't move, Lu Yanchuan opened the car door for her. "Get out of the car."
The tall man tilted his head slightly and looked at her from the side in front of the car door. "Didn't you say this museum is beautiful? Zhou Yan has made a reservation. Let's go."
Shen Li lowered her eyes, gently bit her lip, and got out of the car.
As Lu Yanchuan pulled her hand and walked into the museum, he suddenly sensed an opposing force.
Shen Li's steps froze on the spot, and she no longer obediently followed him inside.
"Lu Yanchuan," Shen Li called out softly.
Lu Yanchuan turned to look at her. "What's wrong?"
Shen Li's eyes were lowered, so you couldn't see the expression in her eyes, only her thick eyelashes covering her face.
It obscured the expression in her eyes.
“I will accompany you to tomorrow’s charity auction and I will cooperate,” Shen Li said.
Lu Yanchuan frowned upon hearing this. "So?"
"I will cooperate in situations where you need my help to salvage your image." Shen Li finally raised her eyes.
The emotions that had been churning in his eyes were now completely calm; all the turbulent emotions had been perfectly suppressed.
Her voice was calm and indifferent, "But in situations where it's not necessary, there's no need to make do."
Shen Li looked at him and said, "You don't need to force yourself to act."
"Act?" Lu Yanchuan narrowed his eyes and asked the question.
Shen Li smiled faintly, but the smile didn't reach her eyes at all.
It seemed that they were being as polite as could be, as superficial as could be.
With a hint of self-mockery, she said, "Lu Yanchuan, I know very well how you see me."
Lu Yanchuan frowned slightly, and his Adam's apple bobbed gently.
He pursed his thin lips, as if he wanted to say something, but he didn't speak for a moment.
Shen Li continued, "In the remaining hundred days, I will cooperate with the occasions that I am required to attend. Other than that, you don't need to make do."
Lu Yanchuan's handsome face was cold.
His handsome face, which had previously appeared somewhat lively, suddenly turned cold.
In an instant, he transformed back into that cold, aloof demeanor, as if he were three feet off the ground.
He seemed to want to say something, but in the end he said nothing.
He just gave a slight smirk and said, "Fine."
Shen Li watched as he turned and walked into the museum, taking out his phone, dialing a number, and holding it to his ear.
"Xiaowan, it's me. I'll have someone come pick you up now."
