Chapter 154: An Unexpected Encounter Continued

Jiang Zhi's life was like a delicate machine haunted by the shadow of revenge, her every action revolving around the investigation into Tang Junxi's death. That day, as usual, she traversed the city streets, searching for any clues that might lead to the case. However, the long investigation had left her mentally strained, the tangled web of clues tangling in her mind like a tangled thread, leaving her exhausted. She desperately needed a quiet place to gather her thoughts, so she found herself in a secluded cafe.

Tucked away in a corner of the city, this café felt like an island of tranquility amidst the bustle. The rich aroma of coffee filled the air, soft music trickled through the air like a gentle stream, and the dim, subdued lighting lent the space a languid, mysterious ambiance. Jiang Zhi walked into the café, scanning the space before finally choosing a seat by the window. She set her belongings aside, ordered a latte, and took a deep breath, trying to relax.

Meanwhile, Shen Qingchen was busy preparing for an important business negotiation. As the heir to the Shen family, he shouldered the brunt of the family business's responsibilities. This negotiation hinged on the company's future development, and he needed to give it his all. His team had already made extensive preparations for the negotiation, but he still couldn't afford to slack off. He arrived near the negotiation venue early, hoping to find a place to gather his thoughts. His assistant recommended this cafe, saying it offered a quiet environment perfect for final preparations.

Shen Qingchen walked into the cafe. His tall figure and extraordinary temperament immediately attracted the attention of many people in the store. His deep eyes were like the brightest stars in the night sky, his cold face had clear lines, and his well-tailored high-end suit made him look more noble and majestic. He walked with steady steps to an empty seat, which happened to be at the table next to Jiang Zhi.

Just as Shen Qingchen walked towards his seat, Jiang Zhi inadvertently raised his head, and their eyes met instantly. At that moment, time seemed to freeze, all the sounds around them disappeared, and only their eyes collided in the air, creating invisible sparks. The original coldness in Shen Qingchen's eyes was instantly replaced by a blazing flame, and that flame was like the emotions that had been hidden in his heart for a long time were instantly ignited. His steps stopped involuntarily, as if he was fixed in place by an invisible force.

Jiang Zhi's heart trembled slightly. She tried to remain calm and tried to look away from Shen Qingchen's extremely attractive eyes. She told herself that she couldn't be affected by this man's charm. She had more important things to do, which was to avenge Tang Junxi. However, Shen Qingchen's approach made her heart beat faster involuntarily, and an inexplicable panic spread in her heart. Her hand unconsciously clenched the cup in her hand, and her fingers turned slightly white from the force.

After a brief moment of astonishment, Shen Qingchen slowly walked towards Jiang Zhi. Each of his steps was steady, as if he was walking towards an inestimable treasure. His eyes never left Jiang Zhi's, which were filled with surprise, admiration, and an indescribable affection. When he reached Jiang Zhi's desk, he bent down slightly and said in a gentle and magnetic voice, "I didn't expect to meet you here, Jiang Zhi."

Jiang Zhi tried to keep her voice steady, and she replied, "Mr. Shen, what a coincidence." Her eyes looked away, not daring to look at Shen Qingchen. She could feel Shen Qingchen's gaze like scorching sunlight, making her feel a little at a loss.

Shen Qingchen did not back down because of Jiang Zhi's cold attitude. He continued, "You look a little tired today. Did you encounter any troubles?" His voice was full of concern, a concern from the heart, not just a polite greeting.

Jiang Zhi's heart tightened. How could she possibly tell Shen Qingchen about her investigation into Tang Junxi's death? She shook her head and said, "Nothing, I'm just a little busy lately." Her answer was brief, hoping that this would make Shen Qingchen give up.

However, Shen Qingchen did not give up. He pulled the chair next to him and sat opposite Jiang Zhi. He looked at Jiang Zhi with a firm look in his eyes and said, "Jiang Zhi, I know you may be a little defensive towards me, but I really just want to care about you. From the first time I saw you, I was attracted by your unique temperament. You are like a lily blooming in the wilderness. Although beautiful alone, you can't help but want to get close to you."

Jiang Zhi's face flushed slightly. She didn't know how to respond to Shen Qingchen's words. She had never encountered such a straightforward pursuit, and her heart was occupied by the obsession with revenge. She took a deep breath and said, "Mr. Shen, I appreciate your concern, but I don't have the mind to think about other things now. I have my own goals, and I must complete them."

Shen Qingchen nodded. He understood what Jiang Zhi said, but he didn't want to give up. He said, "I know you are a woman with your own ideas, and I respect your decision. But I want you to know that no matter when, if you need help or just want to find someone to talk to, I will always be there for you."

Jiang Zhi's heart moved slightly. She could feel the sincerity in Shen Qingchen's words. But she still shook her head and said, "Mr. Shen, you don't have to be like this. We are just ordinary friends, and I am used to solving problems on my own."

Shen Qingchen smiled. He knew that he couldn't push Jiang Zhi too hard now. He stood up and said, "Okay, then I won't bother you anymore. I hope you have a good time today." After that, he turned and walked towards his seat.
