Chapter 157 Sweet Moment

Jiang Zhi had recently racked her brains as she investigated the clues to Tang Junxi's death. She pursued every possible avenue, leaving no trace, but progress was painfully slow, leaving her feeling particularly heavy and depressed. One day, after her usual search through the city, she arrived at a relatively secluded but quiet neighborhood. There, she stumbled upon a quiet cafe, a perfect place to gather her thoughts.

Jiang Zhi walked into the café and sat down in a corner by the window. She ordered a latte and pulled a small notebook from her bag, densely packed with information she'd gathered during her research. Her eyes were focused yet a little tired, her brows slightly furrowed, as if everything around her had no bearing on her. Her world was filled with only unsolved mysteries.

Meanwhile, Shen Qingchen was busy with an important business negotiation. This negotiation concerned the future direction of his company and a major project collaboration, and he couldn't afford to slack off. The negotiation took place in an office building near the cafe. However, the negotiations were not going smoothly, with both sides deadlocked on some key terms. Feeling exhausted and distracted, Shen Qingchen decided to step away from the negotiating table for some fresh air and a moment's rest.

When Shen Qingchen walked into the cafe, his eyes casually scanned every corner, trying to find a place where he could relax. Just then, he saw Jiang Zhi sitting by the window. In that instant, a flash of surprise crossed his eyes, and all his fatigue and irritability seemed to be thrown away. His eyes once again ignited that fiery fire, a mixture of admiration and excitement.

Jiang Zhi was immersed in her own thoughts and did not notice Shen Qingchen's arrival. It was not until Shen Qingchen slowly walked towards her that she raised her head at the sound of his steady footsteps. The moment their eyes met, time seemed to have really stopped. Jiang Zhi's heart trembled suddenly. She tried to calm herself down, not wanting to be disturbed by Shen Qingchen's sudden appearance. A trace of panic flashed in her eyes, but she quickly concealed it. She did not want Shen Qingchen to see her inner fluctuations.

Shen Qingchen walked to Jiang Zhi's table and said softly, "What a coincidence, meeting you here." His voice was low and magnetic, and it sounded like it was particularly gentle. Jiang Zhi nodded slightly and responded, "Well, it's quite a coincidence." She tried her best to make her tone sound calm, as if she was talking to an ordinary acquaintance.

However, Shen Qingchen didn't want to end the conversation so simply. He looked at the small notebook in front of Jiang Zhi. The complicated records on it made him curious and distressed. He knew that Jiang Zhi had been running around and working hard to find the truth about Tang Junxi's death. He wanted to share some of her burden, even if it was just to give her some comfort. So, he pointed to the chair across from her and asked, "Can I sit here?" Jiang Zhi hesitated, but nodded.

Just as Shen Qingchen sat down, a sudden, loud commotion erupted from outside. Jiang Zhi and Shen Qingchen instinctively looked out the window, only to see a few hoodlums walking towards the cafe. They were shouting and cursing as they walked, clearly having drunk quite a bit.

Jiang Zhi thought to herself, "Oh no!" She hadn't brought any self-defense gear with her when she went out today to facilitate her investigation. She was also focused on investigating the clues and didn't want to get into any trouble. She hoped these hooligans were just passing by and wouldn't come into the cafe to cause trouble.

However, things went against their wishes. The hooligans wandered into the cafe, their eyes scanning the area before finally settling on Jiang Zhi. Perhaps it was because Jiang Zhi, sitting alone in a corner, looked easy to bully, or perhaps it was because she exuded a unique aura that caught their attention. One of the hooligans swayed towards Jiang Zhi, muttering some frivolous words.

Jiang Zhi's face turned grim. She gripped the pen tightly, her eyes filled with vigilance. She tried to remain calm and said to the thug in a firm tone, "You'd better leave, or I'll call the police."

After hearing Jiang Zhi's words, the little thug not only didn't restrain himself, but burst into laughter. Several of his accomplices also laughed, and one of them even said, "Call the police? Do you think we're scared? Little beauty, come play with us."

Jiang Zhi was furious. She stood up and wanted to leave this place of trouble. However, the gangster stretched out his hand to block her way. At this critical moment, Shen Qingchen quickly stood up. His tall body blocked Jiang Zhi's way, his eyes revealing a cold and majestic look.

Shen Qingchen looked at the gangster coldly and said, "You'd better leave immediately, otherwise none of you will have a good life today." His voice was not loud, but it was full of unquestionable power.

The thug took a look at Shen Qingchen and saw that he was wearing a well-fitting suit and looked like a wealthy man. He thought Shen Qingchen was just a white-collar worker who could talk big, so he said provocatively: "Who do you think you are? How dare you meddle in my business?"

Shen Qingchen didn't say anything else. He just looked at the gangster quietly, his eyes full of contempt. This silent provocation made the gangster angry and he rushed towards Shen Qingchen with his fists raised.

Shen Qingchen was unhurried. He easily dodged the gangster's attack by turning sideways, and then kicked the gangster in the knee. The gangster stumbled and fell to the ground. Seeing this, his accomplices surrounded him and wanted to deal with Shen Qingchen together.
