Jiang Yao stood at the edge of the resort, a sinister glint in her eyes. She stared intently at the direction where Jiang Zhi and Shen Qingchen had vanished, jealousy gnawing at her like a venomous snake. This forest was supposed to be a peaceful and beautiful retreat, sunlight filtering through the dense foliage, birds singing cheerfully in the branches, and small animals darting through the grass. But in Jiang Yao's eyes, all this beauty became a backdrop to Jiang Zhi and Shen Qingchen's happiness, deepening her resentment.
Jiang Yao knew that if she wanted to cause trouble for them, she had to find a secluded and easily accessible location. She quietly patrolled the resort, her gaze finally landing on a path often used by Jiang Zhi and Shen Qingchen. The path meandered through the woods, flanked by towering trees and dense shrubs. The ground was covered with fallen leaves, which rustled softly as they walked. It was a perfect spot, Jiang Yao thought. If she set a trap here, there was always a chance they would stumble into it.
Jiang Yao began to set the trap. She first carefully searched the ground for a suitable spot, a slightly sunken area surrounded by several larger rocks and some messy tree roots. She felt that this location was ideal because it would not be easily discovered, but would also cause some damage to anyone who fell into the trap. She found a thick branch nearby and began to dig vigorously in the ground. The soil was soft. After all, this was forest land. Years of accumulated fallen leaves and rainwater made the soil fertile and easy to dig. Jiang Yao's hands were soon covered with mud, but she didn't care at all. Her eyes were only on the ever-expanding pit.
As time went by, the pit gradually grew deeper. As Jiang Yao dug, she imagined the panicked expressions of Jiang Zhi or Shen Qingchen falling into the trap, and a sneer unconsciously curled up at the corners of her mouth. She felt that this was what they deserved. Who made them so happy to show their love in front of her? Her movements became faster and faster, as if driven by a crazy emotion. When the pit was about half a meter deep, Jiang Yao stopped. She knew that this depth was enough. If it was deeper, it might attract attention.
Next, Jiang Yao began searching for something to cover the trap. She searched the surrounding woods, gathering branches and leaves. She first placed some slender branches across the small hole, forming a simple framework. She ensured they could support the weight, but not so strong that they would break if someone stepped on them. Then, she carefully placed leaves one by one on top of the branches, trying to make them look naturally gathered. She also specifically sourced some dried leaves from afar, as they had a darker color and blended better with the surroundings.
While covering the trap, Jiang Yao was extremely cautious. She would look up from time to time to see if anyone was approaching. She didn't want to be discovered at this time, after all, her plan was not yet complete. She carefully considered the placement of each leaf to ensure that there were no flaws. She even deliberately scattered some fallen leaves around the trap, making the whole scene look like it was blown by the wind. When everything was done, Jiang Yao stood up and patted the dirt off her body. She took a few steps back and carefully examined her masterpiece. From the outside, it was almost impossible to tell that there was a trap here, unless you looked very carefully or accidentally stepped on it.
Jiang Yao smiled with satisfaction, but she was still a little uneasy. She was worried that the trap might be discovered by others first, or that Jiang Zhi and Shen Qingchen would not take this route at all. In order to ensure that the plan was foolproof, she decided to find a secluded place nearby to hide and observe secretly. She found an excellent hiding place behind a bush not far away. This place can clearly see the location of the trap, but it is not easy to be discovered. She carefully crawled into the bushes, trying not to make any noise. Her body curled up in the bushes, her eyes fixed on the direction of the trap, like a hunter waiting for her prey to take the bait.
Jiang Yao hid in the bushes, various images constantly emerging in her mind. She imagined Jiang Zhi and Shen Qingchen walking hand in hand on this path as usual, talking and laughing, completely unaware of the approaching danger. Then, Jiang Zhi's foot accidentally stepped on a trap, and with a scream, she fell into the trap. Shen Qingchen would panic and lie on the edge of the trap, trying to pull Jiang Zhi. And Jiang Zhi would cry in the trap, covered in mud, in a mess. Thinking of this, Jiang Yao's face showed a twisted smile. She felt that this would destroy their happiness and allow Shen Qingchen to see Jiang Zhi's less perfect side.
Time ticked by, and Jiang Yao grew impatient waiting in the bushes. She began to worry about whether her plan would fail, that she had wasted so much time and energy. But she didn't want to give up easily, and she told herself to persevere. Just as she was about to lose her patience, she heard footsteps in the distance. Her heartbeat quickened, and her eyes fixed on the path. She clenched her fists nervously, and her body trembled slightly. She knew it might be Jiang Zhi and Shen Qingchen.
Jiang Yao held her breath, listening intently to the approaching footsteps. She silently prayed, hoping this was the target she was waiting for. As the footsteps grew clearer, she spotted two familiar figures through a gap in the bushes. It was Jiang Zhi and Shen Qingchen. They walked hand in hand along the path, their faces beaming with happiness. Jiang Yao's eyes sparkled with excitement; she felt her chance had finally arrived. Her gaze fixed on the trap, waiting for them to step on it.
