Jiang Zhi and Shen Qingchen strolled hand in hand along the resort's path. Surrounded by a lush forest, sunlight filtered through the leaves, creating patches of golden light, like a shower of gold from nature. Birds sang cheerfully in the branches, a beautiful forest symphony. A gentle breeze carried the fragrance of flowers and plants, bringing a sense of peace and tranquility.
Jiang Zhi was in a particularly good mood. From time to time, she would look up at Shen Qingchen, her eyes full of happiness and love. Shen Qingchen would also lower her head to respond to her gaze, with a gentle smile on her lips. They were like all couples in love, enjoying this wonderful time.
Yet, this tranquility and beauty didn't let Jiang Zhi down. She was naturally attentive and perceptive, easily noticing subtle details at work or even small changes in her daily life. Perhaps this was a habit she'd developed over years in a highly competitive work environment, or perhaps it was an innate talent.
As they walked slowly along the path, Jiang Zhi suddenly felt something strange. Her steps slowed down unconsciously, her brows furrowed slightly, and a hint of doubt flashed in her eyes. Shen Qingchen noticed her change and asked with concern, "What's wrong, Xiao Zhi?" Jiang Zhi did not answer immediately, but squatted down and carefully observed the ground.
She noticed the ground beneath her feet seemed uneven. While the branches and leaves appeared naturally covered on the surface, a closer look revealed the leaves were arranged in a rather irregular pattern, as if they had been deliberately placed. Furthermore, the color of some leaves differed from the surroundings, clearly having been added later. A bad feeling welled up in Jiang Zhi's heart, and she reached out and gently pushed aside the leaves.
Shen Qingchen also squatted down. When he saw Jiang Zhi's movements, he understood a little bit. When the leaves were pushed aside, a small pit appeared in front of them. Although the pit was not big, it was enough to sprain an ankle if you stepped into it accidentally. Shen Qingchen's eyes instantly became cold. He realized that this was not a small pit that appeared by chance, but someone had done it deliberately.
Jiang Zhi stood up and scanned her surroundings. She began to recall their journey, trying to find some clues. She remembered that just as she turned a corner, she seemed to hear a slight snapping of branches, but at the time she thought it was a small animal moving and didn't pay much attention to it. Now she thought, it was most likely the sound made by the person who set the trap accidentally.
Shen Qingchen also stood up. He held Jiang Zhi's hand and said softly, "It seems someone wants to harm us." Jiang Zhi nodded, her expression becoming serious. "We must be careful. This resort should be relatively safe. Who could do this to us here?" Shen Qingchen frowned and thought.
They carefully avoided the traps and began to move forward more cautiously along the path. Jiang Zhi kept an eye on the surroundings as she walked, her ears like sensitive radar, picking up any subtle sound. Shen Qingchen, on the other hand, kept an eye on Jiang Zhi's safety, his eyes full of vigilance.
They came to a fork in the path, and Jiang Zhi stopped. She looked at the two paths in different directions, wondering which one to go. Shen Qingchen looked at her and said, "Let's take the left one. It looks more hidden and may be able to find some clues." Jiang Zhi nodded, and they walked towards the left path.
The path on the left was quieter, and the surrounding trees were denser. The sunlight could only filter through the layers of leaves, casting a faint light. The ground was covered with thick fallen leaves, making a rustling sound as they walked. Jiang Zhi and Shen Qingchen walked lightly, not wanting to miss any possible discoveries because of their movement.
Suddenly, Jiang Zhi saw some newly broken branches under a large tree ahead. She walked over quickly and took a closer look. Shen Qingchen followed. When he saw the branches, his heart moved. "These branches were broken not long ago. Someone must have just passed by here." Jiang Zhi said. They looked in the direction of the broken branches and found some vague footprints.
The footprints looked like those of a woman, smaller in size and shape. Jiang Zhi thought of the bushes, but she kept it to herself. She and Shen Qingchen continued following the tracks. The footprints disappeared in front of a bush, and Jiang Zhi and Shen Qingchen carefully searched for clues around them.
Shen Qingchen spotted some signs of being crushed in the bushes. Gently picking through the crystals, he uncovered a small hairpin. Jiang Zhi picked it up and examined it carefully. It looked delicate, inlaid with a few tiny crystals that gleamed in the dim light. Jiang Zhi was already certain of the perpetrators, and a flicker of anger crossed her eyes.
Shen Qingchen looked at Jiang Zhi's expression and asked, "Have you guessed who it is?" Jiang Zhi nodded. She handed the hairpin to Shen Qingchen and said, "I've seen this hairpin before. It belongs to Jiang Yao." Shen Qingchen's face darkened and he clenched his fists. "This Jiang Yao is really haunting."
They realized Jiang Yao had been following them and setting traps in their frequented areas, intending to harm them. Jiang Zhi was filled with disappointment and anger. She had thought Jiang Yao would moderate her behavior after the previous incident, but she hadn't expected her to become even more aggressive. Shen Qingchen's face was stern. He was determined to find Jiang Yao and teach her a lesson.
