Chapter 612 Jiang Zhi - Dilemma and Breakthrough

In this corner of the city, the clamor of battle surged like a surging tide, assaulting everyone's nerves with wave after wave. Jiang Zhi, caught in the middle of it all, keenly sensed the assassins' attacks becoming increasingly fierce and coordinated. With a shudder, he realized he had stepped into Jiang Yao's meticulously laid tactical trap.

At that moment, the air around them seemed frozen in the tense atmosphere. The assassins moved like ghosts through the shadows, their attacks coming from all directions. Jiang Zhi's gaze, sharp as a torch, darted through the hail of bullets and the flash of swords, trying to find a flaw in this seemingly impenetrable web of attack. Her heartbeat raced, but years of experience had kept her mind calm and clear. Every time the assassins' attacks drew closer, she deftly dodged them with her extraordinary reflexes and agility. Like a nimble cheetah, she maneuvered through the narrow space, the assassins' blades only glancing at the hem of her clothes, leaving behind a sharp gust of wind.

However, the prolonged dodging gradually drained Jiang Zhi's energy. She knew this wasn't a long-term solution and she needed to proactively seek opportunities for breakthroughs. So, while she continued to nimbly evade the attacks, she rapidly analyzed the assassins' attack rhythms in her mind. She discovered that while their attacks seemed disorganized, they actually had a subtle pattern. Whenever one assassin launched a powerful frontal attack, another would swarm from the side, aiming for a fatal blow. And the time intervals between their coordinated attacks seemed to be constant.

Jiang Zhi silently calculated the time difference and decided to take a chance. She deliberately exposed herself, her body swaying slightly, as if exhausted. Seeing this, one of the assassins, seeing an opportunity, immediately pounced from the front, the dagger in his hand flashing with a cold light, piercing Jiang Zhi's throat. At this critical moment, Jiang Zhi suddenly turned sideways, narrowly avoiding the fatal blow. At the same time, she kicked the assassin's wrist with a precise kick, and with a clang, the dagger flew out of his hand.

This kick not only defused the immediate danger but also disrupted the assassins' attacking rhythm. Seizing this opportunity, Jiang Zhi dashed like a flash towards the left side, where the assassins were relatively vulnerable. Unleashing her years-honed "Phantom Step," her figure instantly blurred, dazzling the assassins. She darted through the crowd, sending assassins crashing to the ground wherever she passed. Some were struck in the vitals by her fierce punches and kicks, rendering them powerless; others were skillfully tripped and thrown to the ground.

Jiang Zhi's powerful attack finally tore a hole in the killers' encirclement. Without hesitation, she rushed towards Jiang Yao. The smug look on Jiang Yao's face had long since vanished, replaced by fear and panic. She watched helplessly as Jiang Zhi broke through the numerous obstacles and advanced towards her, her steps unconsciously retreating. Her lips trembled slightly as she tried to call out to the killers around her to intervene, but the sound was stuck in her throat, unable to come out.

Jiang Zhi's eyes burned with a rage powerful enough to consume everything before her. She had only one thought in mind: to capture Jiang Yao and make her pay a heavy price for her actions. Each step she took was firm and powerful, the ground beneath her feet seeming to tremble slightly. She stepped over the fallen assassin and through the thick smoke, drawing closer and closer to Jiang Yao.

Jiang Yao's face turned pale as paper, her eyes filled with fear. She turned frantically, trying to escape this terrifying scene. But her legs felt as heavy as if they were filled with lead, and each step seemed incredibly difficult. Her body swayed, as if the slightest breeze could blow her over.

Jiang Zhi pursued relentlessly, the distance between them closing. The streets were thick with the pungent smell of gunpowder and blood. The surrounding buildings lay shattered by the flames of war, their walls riddled with bullet holes and scratches. Jiang Zhi's figure weaved through the ruins, like a goddess of vengeance descending upon the earth.

In a panic, Jiang Yao rushed into a narrow alley. The walls on either side towered into the sky, making it barely wide enough for two or three people to walk side by side. The ground was uneven, covered with stagnant water and garbage. Jiang Yao stumbled and ran through the alley, her breathing rapid and heavy, her heartbeat especially clear in the silent lane.

Jiang Zhi followed closely behind, stepping into the alley. Her steps were light and swift, without the slightest hesitation. Her gaze was fixed on Jiang Yao, like a beast stalking its prey. The alley echoed with the sound of their footsteps and Jiang Yao's terrified gasps.

Jiang Yao suddenly slipped while running and fell to the ground. Her hands were scraped and bleeding. She ignored the pain and struggled to get up and continue running. But Jiang Zhi had already caught up to her.

Jiang Zhi stood before Jiang Yao, looking down at her. Her eyes were cold and sharp, as if they could penetrate Jiang Yao's soul. Jiang Yao raised her head and looked at Jiang Zhi, her eyes filled with despair and helplessness. Her lips trembled as she tried to speak, but no words came out.

Jiang Zhi slowly squatted down, grabbed Jiang Yao by the collar, and lifted her up. Jiang Yao's body swayed in the air, her feet off the ground, and she struggled desperately. But in the face of Jiang Zhi's powerful strength, her struggle seemed so powerless.

"Do you think you can escape?" Jiang Zhi's voice was low and cold, like a judgment from hell. Every word was filled with anger and hatred, making Jiang Yao's body tremble uncontrollably.

Tears of regret flowed from Jiang Yao's eyes, and she said in a trembling voice, "Jiang Zhi, please, let me go. I know I was wrong and I shouldn't have done this." Her face was full of fear and pleading, which was in stark contrast to her previous madness.
