Jiang Zhi and the others hid in this secret mountain manor, where time seemed to be twisted into a taut string by the urgent atmosphere. Inside, the dim light flickered on the desks piled high with documents, illuminating the solemn and focused faces of the people. They knew that every minute and every second of preparation was a matter of life and death, a matter of whether they could seize the initiative in this battle against the forces of darkness.
Jiang Zhi sat at the table, her slender fingers rapidly flipping through papers, her eyes sharp as a hawk, not missing a single detail that could prove crucial. Beside her, her allies were equally absorbed, whispering to each other about the intelligence they had compiled. Occasionally, a frown would appear over a new discovery, only to dive into a deeper discussion. A child sat quietly in a corner, his tiny body curled up on an old sofa, fiddling with a tattered stuffed doll Jiang Zhi had hastily found for him. His eyes would occasionally drift towards the busy adults, his tender face filled with confusion and anxiety.
In this seemingly calm yet turbulent moment, the guard on guard outside the manor felt a sudden surge of anxiety. He crouched atop a lush tree, using the dense canopy as cover as he scanned his surroundings with a sharp gaze. A gentle breeze rustled the leaves, but amidst this natural cacophony, he detected a distinct movement—footsteps, chaotic yet with a practiced rhythm, clearly not the sounds of casual passersby.
The sentry's heart leaped into his throat. He quickly pulled a compact transmitter from his belt and, with trembling fingers, pressed the button with precision, sounding the alarm within the manor. Then, crouching low, he dove through the branches like a nimble cheetah, attempting to get closer to the source of the sound and better understand the situation. However, before he could get any closer, a swarm of dark figures, like ghosts, swarmed from all directions, surrounding the manor.
Inside the manor, the siren pierced the silence, severing everyone's tense thoughts like a sharp blade. Jiang Zhi jerked her head up, the documents in her hand falling to the ground. Without even bothering to pick them up, she sprinted to the door, shouting, "Everyone, don't panic! Prepare for battle!" Her voice was firm and powerful, yet it couldn't conceal her anxiety.
Everyone immediately stood up and ran to their pre-arranged defensive positions with meticulous practice. Some grabbed guns hidden in magazines, expertly checking the clips and pulling the trigger, then drawing the sharp daggers from their waists, their eyes revealing a resolute murderous intent. Others quickly overturned tables and chairs in the room, constructing a simple defensive formation.
Lin Yue took a few steps to Jiang Zhi's side. He was over fifty, his face deeply wrinkled by time, but the light in his eyes was like burning coals, fiery and resolute. "Miss Jiang, it looks like that evil woman Jiang Yao has finally come. Don't be afraid, let's fight her!" He pressed a pistol into Jiang Zhi's hand and gripped a long, gleaming sword.
Jiang Zhi took the pistol, her finger lightly on the trigger, the familiar touch made her calm down a little. She looked back into the house, her eyes lingering on the child briefly, eyes full of reluctance and determination. She walked quickly to the child, squatted down, held the child's small shoulders tightly with both hands, stared into his eyes, and said softly: "Baby, don't be afraid, mommy will be back soon. You stay here, no matter what sound you hear, don't come out, understand?" The child nodded as if he understood, tears flashing in his eyes, but his little hand let go of the doll and tightly grasped the corner of Jiang Zhi's clothes, as if this could keep his mother. Jiang Zhi's heart ached, and he gently pried the child's hands apart, carried him into the dark room in the basement, and repeatedly checked the concealment and safety of the dark room several times before gritting his teeth and turning to join the battle.
Outside the manor, Jiang Yao's face was grim. She stood beside a black SUV, surrounded by a group of ferocious henchmen, all armed with weapons, their eyes gleaming with bloodlust. Jiang Yao gazed at the vaguely moving figures within the manor and burst into a frenzied laugh. "Jiang Zhi, today is your death! I wonder where you can escape!" Her laughter echoed through the empty mountains, revealing a chilling madness.
At Jiang Yao's command, his men rushed towards the manor gate like hungry wolves. Gunfire erupted, and bullets rained down on the manor's buildings. Jiang Zhi and the others, hiding behind cover, calmly fought back. Jiang Zhi locked sights on an enemy charging ahead, raised her hand, and fired a precise shot into the chest. The man screamed and fell to the ground. Seeing this, her allies cheered loudly, "Miss Jiang, you have excellent marksmanship!" Jiang Zhi had no time to respond. She dodged a whistling bullet and rolled to another cover, continuing her search for her long knife target.
Lin Yue rushed into the enemy camp, brandishing a long sword. Although he was old, he had superb swordsmanship and was full of vigor. He was agile, and wherever the sword flashed, the enemies screamed and fell down. A young and strong enemy stabbed him with a dagger. Lin Yue was not in a hurry, he dodged to the side, swung his long sword, and a flash of blood passed by, and the enemy's arm was broken at the elbow. "Come on! You running dogs, today is the end of you? Four Fields..." Lin Yue roared, his voice shaking the four fields.
However, the enemy continued to pour in, and the situation inside the manor became increasingly critical. Jiang Zhi and his men gradually felt overwhelmed, and their ammunition was rapidly depleting. Just then, a sudden explosion was heard from the rear of the manor. It turned out that the enemy had discovered a weak point in the defense and used explosives to blow open the wall, allowing a group of enemies to rush in.
"Oh no! They're coming from behind!" someone exclaimed. Jiang Zhi's heart sank, knowing full well that if the enemy attacked from both sides, they would be in dire straits. She looked around, seeing her allies, each battered and wounded, still stubbornly resisting, and a wave of tragic heroism welled up in her. "Everyone, hold on! Reinforcements will surely arrive!" she shouted, trying to boost morale, but her voice was drowned out by the roar of gunfire and explosions.
