Jiang Yao, however, seemed lost in her own world, unable to listen. She continued to scream, "I'm not wrong! This world is unfair to me! I just want to get what I deserve..."
As the interrogation deepened, Jiang Yao alternated between madness and silence, her mental state on the verge of collapse. The police knew that no amount of words would be of any use to her at this point, and could only wait for the legal process to put an end to it all.
Days passed as Jiang Yao was held in the detention center, awaiting her trial. She sat blankly in the corner of her cell, her eyes glazed over, oblivious to everything around her. Occasionally, she thought of her childhood, a simple, kind girl full of hope for the future. But now, everything had changed.
Finally, the day of trial arrived. The atmosphere in the courtroom was solemn and dignified as Jiang Yao was escorted into the courtroom. She was dressed in prison clothes, her hair cropped short, and her face gaunt. She looked a world away from the woman who once dabbled in love and conspiracy.
The prosecution listed her crimes one by one: participating in a mysterious organization with the intention of subverting social order; planning and carrying out murders many times, posing a serious threat to the life and safety of Jiang Zhi and his family; destroying other people's families and causing great pain to Shen Qingchen and Jiang Zhi... Every charge is outrageous.
Jiang Yao stood in the dock, listening to the accusations, her lips trembling slightly, but she didn't offer a single word in her defense. She knew it was irreversible, her fate sealed with each wrong move.
When it was Jiang Yao's turn to speak, she raised her head, looked at the dome above the courtroom, and slowly began to speak: "I have lived my whole life in jealousy and obsession. I thought I could change my fate and get everything I wanted, but in the end, I lost everything..." Her voice was low and hoarse, filled with endless regret.
The courtroom was filled with sighs, as people looked at this once-beautiful but misguided woman with mixed emotions. The judge finally struck the gavel and announced the verdict: Jiang Yao was sentenced to life imprisonment for multiple felonies, with lifelong deprivation of her political rights.
The moment Jiang Yao heard the verdict, her body swayed slightly, and a flicker of relief flashed in her eyes. Perhaps, amidst this endless prison sentence, she would finally have time to reflect on her life and face the sins she had committed.
After learning of Jiang Yao's trial, Jiang Zhi felt no hatred but only pity. She decided to visit Jiang Yao in prison, hoping to offer her a final glimmer of comfort and put an end to this feud.
The atmosphere in the prison's visiting room was oppressive and gloomy. Jiang Yao was brought in by the prison guards. The moment she saw Jiang Zhi, a complex emotion flashed in her eyes: surprise, shame, and mostly regret.
The two sat facing each other through the glass and picked up the microphone. Jiang Zhi spoke first: "Jiang Yao, I'm here to see you." Her voice was gentle and calm.
Jiang Yao lowered her head, not daring to look Jiang Zhi in the eye. "Why... did you come? I've done so many things to let you down."
Jiang Zhi sighed softly: "I came here to tell you that there are many possibilities in life. Even here, you can re-examine yourself. You could have had a different life, but your obsession ruined it."
Jiang Yao's tears welled up in her eyes and dripped onto the table. "I know I was wrong, but it's too late... I've ruined myself and hurt so many people."
Jiang Zhi looked at her, his eyes full of sincerity: "As long as you are willing, it is never too late to start changing. Here, repent sincerely, and perhaps one day you will be able to find inner peace."
Jiang Yao raised her tearful face and looked at Jiang Zhi: "Don't you hate me? I wish you were dead..."
Jiang Zhi shook his head. "I used to be angry about your behavior, but now, I just hope you can recognize your mistakes and start a new life. Hatred can't solve any problems. Let it go. It will be good for both of us."
These words were like a ray of light piercing Jiang Yao's dark heart. She broke down in tears, repeatedly saying "thank you." Jiang Zhi knew Jiang Yao still had a long way to go, and whether she could truly reform herself depended on her own luck. But at least, at that moment, she saw a glimmer of conscience awakening in Jiang Yao's heart.
After leaving the prison, Jiang Zhi gazed at the sky, a wave of emotion filling her heart. This story, filled with twists and turns and grudges, was finally coming to a close. She hoped that everyone could learn from the hardships of the past, cherish the present, and move towards a brighter future. And that Jiang Yao, in turn, could find her own path to redemption within prison.
