Chapter 897 Jiang Yao’s End

Jiang Yao was utterly defeated in that thrilling final battle. The once invincible her instantly plummeted into an abyss, from the madness of wanting to control everything to the depths of despair. Even before the smoke of battle had cleared, her world had completely collapsed. A venomous resentment and hatred gnawed at her heart like a venomous snake, driving her to a desperate escape.

Like a frightened hare, she frantically dashed through the forest, dead branches and leaves rustling beneath her feet, each step tinged with fear and despair. Her once meticulously styled hair was now disheveled, her clothes torn and tattered, stained with dust and blood, testament to her madness. Her eyes were filled with panic, yet also with a hint of determination, as if she still refused to believe her own complete defeat.

However, her crimes were already clear, like an invisible net that bound her tightly. Upon learning of her involvement in the mysterious organization's numerous crimes and her attempted murder of Jiang Zhi and others at the scene of the decisive battle, the police quickly launched a comprehensive and rigorous pursuit. Every arterial route, town, and village was heavily policed, each with eagle-like eyes, watching for even the slightest sign of suspicion.

Jiang Yao knew she had nowhere to escape, yet the obsession deep within her heart kept her fighting desperately. She avoided the main roads, choosing instead to follow the less traveled paths, attempting to exploit the complex terrain to evade her pursuers. Sometimes, she would retreat to a deserted hut, huddled in a corner, holding her breath, listening for any sounds outside, and only dared to move again when she was sure it was safe.

One night, the rain came down in torrents, its large, bean-sized raindrops hitting the ground with a high, splattering spray. Jiang Yao trudged through the mud, soaking wet. The biting cold water streamed down her face, a mixture that was unclear whether it was rain or tears. Her body was already exhausted, and her legs felt heavy as if they were filled with lead, but fear drove her on.

Just as she turned into a deep valley, a bright light suddenly shone from behind her, followed by the police's commanding voice: "Jiang Yao, you are surrounded. Give up resistance and surrender!" Jiang Yao turned back in fear, only to see several police cars, their lights flashing, completely blocking her escape route. The officers, weapons in hand, pressed forward, their figures appearing resolute in the rain.

A flash of despair and madness crossed Jiang Yao's face. She screamed, "No! I won't let you catch me!" She turned and ran deeper into the valley, attempting to exploit the terrain to escape. The police wouldn't let her succeed, and they quickly launched a pursuit. The rain blurred their vision, and the mountain path beneath them was difficult to navigate, but the officers didn't flinch, holding on to Jiang Yao.

After a fierce chase, Jiang Yao panicked and ran to the edge of a cliff. Ahead lay a chasm, and behind her were the police, closing in on her. Her chest heaved violently, her eyes filled with despair and helplessness. Rain pelted her face, and she couldn't tell whether it was tears or rain.

"Jiang Yao, you have nowhere to escape! Surrender!" the leading police officer shouted. Jiang Yao simply shook her head frantically, gazing at the darkness below the cliff, a surge of determination welling up in her heart. She recalled her life, from childhood onward. Because of her humble background, she had always suffered injustice in every way. Seeing what others had, the seeds of jealousy quietly grew in her heart. Later, she met Chen Qingchen, and that momentary heartbeat made her think she had found the dawn of hope for a change in her fate. But the appearance of Jiang Zhi shattered her dreams completely.

"Why? Why does she have everything? I won't accept this!" Jiang Yao roared to the sky, her voice echoing through the valley. The police slowly approached, trying to calm her down: "Everything you did was wrong. Turn back now, and the law will give you a fair trial."

However, Jiang Yao was already trapped in the abyss of obsession, unable to extricate herself. She suddenly turned and rushed towards the police, attempting a final struggle. The officers reacted quickly and subdued her. The moment she was handcuffed, Jiang Yao's body went limp, and the light in her eyes completely extinguished, leaving only an endless void.

After being captured, Jiang Yao was taken back to the police station for questioning. The light in the interrogation room was pale, casting a glaring shadow on her gaunt, haggard face. She sat in a chair, her hands cuffed to the table, her hair wet and plastered to her cheeks, looking utterly disheveled.

The police laid out piles of evidence in front of her: meeting records of participants in a mysterious organization, letters planning the murders of Jiang Zhi and Shen Qingchen, recorded calls instructing the killers... Each piece of evidence was like a heavy hammer, hitting her heart.

"Jiang Yao, look at this. The evidence of your crimes is irrefutable. Confess now and try to get a lighter sentence." The interrogating police officer said seriously.

Jiang Yao just smiled coldly, her laughter revealing despair and madness: "Leniency? I've fallen to this point today, what else do I care about?" She raised her head, staring at the ceiling with empty eyes, and began to mutter to herself: "From the first time I saw Shen Qingchen, I knew that he was someone I could never get in this life. But why did Jiang Zhi do that? Why could she easily have his love, so much wealth and status..."

The interrogation room was completely silent, with only Jiang Yao's voice echoing. Her emotions grew increasingly agitated, and her voice grew louder and louder. "I can't accept this! I planned so much, I thought I could take everything she had, I thought I could make Chen Qingchen see my good side, but why... why did I still lose miserably!"

The police listened quietly, a wave of pity welling up in their hearts. This woman could have had an ordinary, happy life, but jealousy and obsession blinded her, leading her down this path of no return.

"Jiang Yao, calm down. Jealousy cannot be an excuse for you to commit a crime. You have hurt so many people, and they are so innocent." The police tried to make her face reality.
