Chapter 19: Da Hong Pao

Gu Yanchen's perspective

It has been a whole year since Shen Qingci left.

Gu Yanchen stood behind the counter of the Evening Fragrance Tea House, his fingertips brushing against the familiar tea cans. After nearly six months of meticulous care, the teahouse had not only regained its former vitality, but business was even booming. Regular customers smiled and said he was almost half-owner of the teahouse.

Only he himself knows that he did all this just to wait for someone.

He didn't look for her, nor did he try to contact her. He placed all his thoughts on this teahouse. He stubbornly believed that as long as the teahouse was still there, as long as he was still here, Shen Qingci would definitely come back.

Today, he specially brewed a pot of Da Hong Pao. This was a tea Shen Qingci loved very much, with a rich aroma and a mellow taste. He picked up the teacup and sipped it slowly, as if this would bring him closer to her.

Lin Hao pushed the door open and saw him drinking tea alone. He sighed helplessly: "Yan Chen, it's been a year. Are you still planning to keep wasting time like this?"

Gu Yanchen didn't look up, but said calmly: "I'm not wasting time, I'm just waiting."

"Wait for her to come back?" Lin Hao sat down opposite him. "How do you know she will come back? Even if she comes back, will the problem between you be solved?"

Gu Yanchen was silent. He didn't know the answer. He only knew that he couldn't let go.

"I heard she's going back to China soon." Lin Hao hesitated for a moment, then said, "It seems her studies are over."

Gu Yanchen's grip on the teacup suddenly tightened, nearly spilling the scalding tea. He looked up, his eyes filled with shock and a subtle hint of anticipation. "How did you know?"

"I also heard this from a friend by chance," Lin Hao said. "Yan Chen, you have to face what you have to face. If she comes back, what are you going to do?"

Gu Yanchen took a deep breath, his eyes becoming firm. "I will tell her that I was wrong. I will wait for her, until she is willing to forgive me, until she is willing to be with me again."

He picked up the Da Hong Pao tea from the table and drank it all in one gulp. The richness and sweetness of the tea spread through his mouth, giving him a sense of courage. He knew that the moment of reunion was drawing near, and he had to be prepared. No matter what the outcome, he would face it bravely.
