Extra 3: Searching for the Source of Tea

When Gu Niancha was five years old, Shen Qingci and Gu Yanchen decided to take her to look for the source of tea.

Their first stop was Pu'er, Yunnan. There, they visited ancient tea mountains, saw towering ancient tea trees, and even picked tea leaves themselves. Gu Niancha, seeing so many tea trees for the first time, was so excited that she ran around, asking questions non-stop.

"Mom, is this tea tree a hundred years old?"

"Dad, how do tea leaves become tea cakes?"

Shen Qingci and Gu Yanchen patiently answered her questions and let her experience the tea production process including withering and rolling.

Next, they went to West Lake in Hangzhou, visited Longjing Village, and tasted authentic West Lake Longjing; went to Wuyi Mountain in Fujian, felt the rock charm of Dahongpao; and went to Huangshan in Anhui, appreciated the elegance of Taiping Houkui.

Every time they went to a place, they would take Gu Niancha to explore the tea-growing areas to learn about the local tea culture and customs. Although Gu Niancha was young, she had a good memory and had memorized a lot of knowledge about tea.

After returning home, Gu Niancha held a small "tea exhibition" in the teahouse, displaying the tea and photos she collected from various places, and explaining what she saw and heard to the guests who came to the teahouse.

Seeing their daughter's confident expression, Shen Qingci and Gu Yanchen felt incredibly proud. They knew that this journey to find the source of tea had not only allowed Gu Niancha to gain knowledge, but also allowed her to experience the charm of tea culture and the significance of its inheritance.
