Chapter 22: Longjing before the Rain
Gu Yanchen's perspective
Once again staying with Shen Qingci as a "friend", Gu Yanchen felt that every day was full of hope.
He no longer mentioned past arguments or future plans, but quietly did the little things that made her happy. He would deliver the newly released Rain Dragon Well tea to the teahouse first thing in the morning, and would stay with her to sort out the accounts after the teahouse closed in the evening until late at night.
He found that when he stopped making demands and plans as "Mr. Gu", he could feel Shen Qingci's charm more clearly. Her cherishment of every piece of tea and her sincerity to every customer made him more fascinated.
One day, a discerning old tea drinker came to the teahouse and specifically requested the finest Rain-Predawn Longjing tea. He was also very particular about the water temperature and brewing time. Shen Qingci was not at all impatient and patiently brewed the tea according to the guest's request over and over again until the guest was satisfied.
Gu Yanchen watched quietly from the side, feeling both proud and distressed. After the guests left, he walked over and handed them a glass of warm water: "Are you tired? Take a break."
Shen Qingci took the water, took a sip, and smiled: "I'm used to it. Old tea drinkers are all like this. It's a good thing to be particular about tea."
"But you can't let yourself get so tired." Gu Yanchen took her hand and rubbed it gently. "Look, your hand is a little red."
Shen Qingci's cheeks flushed slightly, and she gently withdrew her hand. She could feel Gu Yanchen's concern, and her heart felt warm, but she still felt a little uncomfortable.
Gu Yanchen didn't care, just smiled and said, "I'll treat you to dinner tonight? Let's go to your favorite Jiangnan restaurant."
Shen Qingci hesitated for a moment, then nodded: "Okay."
At dinner, Gu Yanchen ordered a table full of Shen Qingci's favorite dishes. The two chatted in a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere. Gu Yanchen told her about interesting things at the company, and Shen Qingci told him about the guests at the teahouse, as if they had never been apart.
After dinner, Gu Yanchen sent Shen Qingci home. When they reached the bottom of the stairs, Shen Qingci stopped and said, "Thank you for dinner. I'm going upstairs."
"Qingci," Gu Yanchen called her, his eyes serious. "I know I didn't do well before and made you feel wronged. I don't expect you to forgive me right away, but I hope there's a chance to make amends, bit by bit."
Shen Qingci looked at him, was silent for a few seconds, and then said: "Yan Chen, I know you are changing. Give me some time, okay?"
"Okay." Gu Yanchen smiled, "I'll wait for you."
Watching Shen Qingci's back as she went upstairs, Gu Yanchen's heart was filled with determination. He knew that as long as he persisted, he would be able to win her heart back one day.
