? Chapter 89

Chapter 89

The moonlight is warm and the water is gurgling.

Xie Zheng tilted his head slightly and looked at Fan Changyu for a long time without saying anything.

Fan Changyu met his gaze, was stunned for a moment, then seemed to realize that this action was a bit intimate, and withdrew his hand and placed it on his knees with some embarrassment.

The atmosphere between the two of them became a little subtle. When she was about to leave, Xie Zheng suddenly said, "If you are still depressed, I can accompany you for a few moves."

Just leaving like this, considering that I just touched his head subconsciously to comfort him, it felt a little weird.

Thinking of his ghostly speed just now, Fan Changyu did want to compete with him, so he nodded.

She only brought a boning knife. Xie Zheng put on his shirt and went into battle unarmed without even a weapon.

Fan Changyu felt that he was being looked down upon, and pursed his lips and said, "You'd better take a dagger."

Xie Zheng put one hand behind his back and said to her, "Come."

This gesture of letting her use one hand made Fan Changyu purse her lips even tighter. Without saying another word, her eyes instantly became as sharp as a hunting tiger or leopard, and she rushed over like an arrow from a bow.

She used one hand to control Xie Zheng's hand and moved the boning knife straight towards his neck. When she got closer, she found that Xie Zheng was as slippery as a fish. She wanted to grab his hand, but he always managed to dodge before her, neither too fast nor too slow, with ease. When he dodged her dagger by leaning sideways, a palm wind swept towards him. Fan Changyu quickly dodged it, but the hand hooked her elbow and pulled her downward and backward. Fan Changyu's entire center of gravity was unbalanced, and she almost fell backwards.

Xie Zheng changed his pulling force from downward to pulling her arm, preparing to pull her up, but he suddenly felt a chill in his neck.

He asked with a smile: "What is this? Repaying kindness with enmity?"

Fan Changyu put his boning knife against his neck and said, "A soldier never tires of deception."

Xie Zheng's smile brightened a little, and he looked at her and said, "You make sense."

Fan Changyu looked into his smiling black eyes, put away the knife, pursed his lips and said, "My skills are not as good as others."

Xie Zheng noticed her death and said, "Close combat requires speed. You are good at using heavy weapons. Now that you have switched to lighter weapons, you can't use big and wide moves. It's just a matter of sword speed. If I can't beat you after more than ten years of hard training, it would be unreasonable."

Fan Changyu recalled the move he used to knock him down, and asked, "What was that move when you hooked my elbow and pulled it down?"

Xie Zheng did not answer. Instead, he hooked her elbow again and pulled her downward and backward. Fan Changyu's body instantly tensed up, but this time her feet did not move.

Xie Zheng asked her, "Do you understand?"

Fan Changyu recalled the time when she almost fell. His palm was approaching, and in order to avoid it, she moved her body to the side instead of standing steadily in place.

She frowned and said, "The point is not about the pull-down move you made?"

Xie Zheng nodded in approval and said, "Sometimes you don't need to fight with all your strength. Just go with the flow, use the opponent's force to counter the opponent's force, and use your own strength to defeat a powerful opponent."

Fan Changyu gripped the boning knife tightly and shouted at him, "Come again!"

In the brief fight just now, Fan Changyu had just loosened up all the joints in her body. She was good at fierce attacks, so she no longer followed Xie Zheng's moves to make detours, and just kept attacking. Each blow of her sword became more and more powerful. Although it was only a boning knife of more than three inches in length, she could still leave afterimages.

Xie Zheng was a little surprised to find that she played to her strengths and avoided her weaknesses, using offense as defense. A hint of surprise flashed across his eyes. It turned out that she was holding back just now, just to test his kung fu skills.

This realization brought a hint of smile to his eyes, but he did not hold back on his moves.

Only through such practical sparring can Fan Changyu learn things and improve his martial arts skills as quickly as possible.

After suffering a loss, Fan Changyu no longer thought about grabbing Xie Zheng's hand. He attacked with the hand holding the knife and the hand holding the fist, one attack after another, just to force Xie Zheng to defend passively and unable to counterattack.

But this time her fight lasted only a little longer than the previous one. After a few rounds, Xie Zheng still followed her like a ghost. Following her knife-drawing posture, he used the force to push her shoulder. Fan Changyu was instantly thrown far away and half fell into the grass.

To some extent, Fan Changyu is actually a martial arts idiot.

She raised her head, a small flame seemed to be burning in her eyes, and shouted: "Come again!"

Xie Zheng stood not far away, his clothes fluttering in the night wind, and his cold jade-like face gave him a Taoist and immortal look.

Fan Changyu rushed towards him again with the knife in hand, like a calf.

In a moment, Xie Zheng pulled away the arm holding the knife, and she staggered into the bushes again.

The black cloud horse that was eating grass nearby seemed to dislike her for stepping on the fresh green grass, so it leaned over and nudged her.

Fan Changyu climbed up with the boning knife in hand, spat out the grass he had accidentally eaten, looked at Xie Zheng and shouted, "Come again!"

After being thrown out for who knows how many times, Fan Changyu's clothes were covered with grass juice and mud and were no longer presentable. His face was dirty and there were a few grass leaves on his head.

She lay on her back on the ground, looking up at the sky and breathing heavily. Her whole body was so sore that she didn't want to move a finger, but she just felt very satisfied.

My mind was empty, without any distracting thoughts, and I could fall asleep the moment I closed my eyes.

Xie Zheng took a water bottle from his horse and handed it to her: "Drink some water."

Fan Changyu was sweating a lot and was indeed very thirsty. She crawled up and sat up. Perhaps because she had been thrown out so many times, her head was a little dizzy. She took the kettle and started to drink it down in big gulps.

After drinking it, he returned it to Xie Zheng. Xie Zheng took a look at it and directly tilted his head back to take a few gulps.

Fan Changyu stared at it blankly, and finally his brain reacted. The kettle belonged to Xie Zheng. She drank from it, and then he drank from it. What was this?

The embarrassment had not yet risen. Thinking of how he kissed her on horseback when they came back, Fan Changyu subconsciously wiped her lips a few times with the back of her hand. In an instant, she felt that drinking from the same water bottle was not a big deal.

There was grass mud on the back of her hand, and when she wiped it, all the grass mud ended up on her lips.

After Xie Zheng finished drinking the water and uncorked the bottle, he noticed something was wrong with her and asked, "What's wrong?"

Fan Changyu said awkwardly: "There is something dirty on my face. I'll go wash it."

After saying that, he stood up and walked towards the river.

Xie Zheng's voice came from behind: "You are covered in mud, do you want to wash your clothes?"

Fan Changyu thought that he was making fun of her with his words, and immediately turned around and glared at him, but seeing Xie Zheng's serious expression, it seemed that he was not teasing her on purpose, and she couldn't help but frown.

Xie Zheng saw that she had misunderstood, and said, "The army will move out tomorrow and will go to Chongzhou and Jizhou to join forces to kill the rebels. I'm afraid they won't have any clothes to change into on the way."

As he spoke, he took off his own robe and hung it on a branch nearby: "I can lend you my robe first."

After saying that, he turned and went towards the woods. I don't know if he was trying to avoid it on purpose.

After Fan Changyu watched him walk away, he turned his gaze to the robe hanging on the tree branch.

Her hair was covered with a lot of grass and mud. After hesitating for a moment, she finally went over and picked up the outer robe, hid behind a huge rock on the river bank, put the robe on the rock, untied her hair, took off the mud-covered military uniform, and immersed herself in the cold water.

Although it was late spring, the river water at night was still cold enough to penetrate the bones. Fortunately, Fan Changyu was in good health and was not afraid of the cold. After washing off the mud, she began to scrub her long hair.

The crackling sound of burning firewood came from the shore. She secretly looked over from the edge of the boulder and found Xie Zheng sitting in front of the fire with his back to her. It was obvious that he had just gone to the woods to look for firewood.

Fan Changyu stared at him for a while and found that he never turned his head from beginning to end. After washing his hair, he stood up shivering, wringing his hair, picked up the robe draped on the boulder and wrapped it around himself.

It was when she was tying the belt that Fan Changyu discovered the problem. The robe was too big for her, and even with the belt fastened, the collar was still wide open.

She frowned, squeezed out the water from her washed sweater, put it on inside, and then wrapped herself in the outer robe.

After doing all this, she walked out from behind the boulder and squatted down by the river to wash her military uniform which was covered with grass juice and mud.

Xie Zheng probably heard the noise, turned to look at her and asked, "Why don't you dry your hair first?"

Fan Changyu thought about washing the clothes first and taking them to dry, and said, "I'm not cold."

She heard footsteps behind her. When they were almost in front of her, she looked up and saw Xie Zheng walking right past her and stepping into the river with his upper body naked.

Fan Changyu frowned and asked, "Do you want to take a shower?"

Xie Zheng glanced at her and said, "Before you came over, I was swimming here."

Yan Bi dived into the water like a silver fish. In a short while, he swam several feet below the river bank.

Judging from his expression, he wants to continue swimming in the river?

Fan Changyu thought that since he was washing clothes by the river and swimming in the middle of the river, they would not interfere with each other, so he continued to wash his clothes.

The water in front of him suddenly rippled. Fan Changyu looked up and saw Xie Zheng diving out of the water with a fish in his hand. The splashing water splashed all over Fan Changyu. His black hair and delicate jaw dropped to the water line. He laughed loudly like a teenager, "There's a fish to eat!"

The fish in his hand was also struggling fiercely, flapping its tail desperately, splashing a lot of fishy-smelling water droplets onto Fan Changyu's face.

Fan Changyu had no choice but to turn his face away and put his sleeves in front of him, saying helplessly but a little angrily: "Put the fish away first!"

The originally gathered collar of his clothes opened up again because of the movement of raising his hand, and Fan Changyu felt a chill almost instantly.

The person in front of her suddenly fell silent and stared at her blankly. The fish slipped out of his hand and hit the water, splashing all over his face, but he didn't seem to react.

Fan Changyu realized something was wrong and looked down, she saw that the collar of her outer robe was wide open, and the vest she was wearing inside was wet, clinging to her body in a round shape, with a faint bean-like bulge visible.

Her face instantly turned red, and without thinking, she kicked him out, cursing, "You bastard!"

Xie Zheng was kicked into the river by her in the face. He was caught off guard and gulped down a mouthful of water, unable to get up for a long time.

Fan Changyu was filled with shame and anger. At first, he thought he was pretending. After a long while, he didn't come up. Finally, he realized something was wrong and called out to the surface of the water, "Yan Zheng?"

She still habitually called him to correct his mistakes.

There was not a ripple on the water surface. Fan Changyu was afraid that he would knock him unconscious from his kick. With his life at stake, he did not care about anything else and threw his outer robe onto the shore and went into the water to save him.

After a while, she picked up the man who was spitting water, threw him on the shore, pressed hard on his chest several times, and saw Xie Zheng tilt his head and spit out a mouthful of water, then slowly woke up, then she sat aside with strength.

She was tired and her breathing was heavy, but it would not be an exaggeration to say that her face was expressionless.

What the hell happened today?

Xie Zheng opened his eyes and saw Fan Changyu sitting next to him wearing only trousers and a coat, with wet long hair dishevelled. The skin that was not covered by the black hair and the coat was as white as snow in the moonlight. It was hard to tell on his face whether it was indifference or a look of despair after experiencing too many blows.

But the whole person seemed to hook on his heartstrings. He was stunned at first, and then a heat surged into his nose.

After realizing what it was, Xie Zheng quickly raised one hand to cover his nose. His ears were completely red. He hastily turned his eyes away, looking more frightened than ever before: "Sorry... I'm sorry..."

Fan Changyu was so angry that he wanted to beat someone up, and he shouted fiercely, "Shut up!"

She picked up the outer robe that she had taken off and wrapped it around herself. She had no place to vent her anger and continued to warn fiercely: "You didn't see anything!"

Yan Bi walked a long way away, sat down, and began to doubt his life.

Xie Zheng looked at her back wrapped in his robe, then looked at the unwashed clothes by the river. He poured cold water on his face to drive away the heat, then scrubbed her clothes clean, took them to the fire, propped them up with branches at a distance to dry them, then went to the river to catch two more fish, killed and washed them, then skewered them with branches and stuck them next to the fire.

When the fish was ready, he handed it to Fan Changyu and said, "Have something to eat."

Fan Changyu was wrapped in his outer robe, and he seemed to have not yet recovered from the continuous blows. He just glared at him with his almond-shaped eyes and threatened him again: "Don't tell anyone about what happened tonight!"

The author has something to say:

Changyu: Awooo! Awooo! (Very fierce)
