Chapter 62

Chapter 62

Late the night before the awards ceremony, Su Rui followed the extremely detailed instructions sent by Ling Yao's assistant, Xiao Chen, and, as if completing a secret mission, she made several detours and finally arrived at a top-tier hotel in Country J. The hotel had strict access control and excellent privacy. Xiao Chen had already arranged everything at the front desk, and Su Rui barely paused before being led by a special person and taking the elevator directly to a high-rise suite.

The elevator door opened, revealing a quiet corridor covered in soft carpet. He found the corresponding door and just as he raised his hand, it opened from the inside.

Ling Yao stood at the door. He seemed to have just arrived, still carrying the cool air of the outdoors. His hair was simply styled, and his face bore the traces of haste. But the moment he saw Su Rui, his eyes suddenly lit up with a dazzling light, like ignited stars.

Without any hesitation, he pulled the still dazed Su Rui into the room, closed the door, and then gave her an extremely tight hug that was almost suffocating.

Su Rui was caught off guard and fell into his arms. Her nose was instantly filled with the familiar scent of his body, a mixture of light makeup and aftershave. He could clearly feel Ling Yao's pounding heartbeat in his chest, and the unmistakable, even slightly trembling strength of his arms as they wrapped around him.

"Finally..." Ling Yao buried his face deep in his neck, his voice muffled, with a sigh of relief and indescribable heartache, "...Finally, I don't have to make you suffer in that small windowless room anymore."

He recalled the last few times Su Rui had come to see him, the two of them crammed into that windowless, airless space that offered privacy. Back then, he was so overwhelmed by his own concerns that he even needed Su Rui to care for him. That memory, tinged with bitterness and a sense of powerlessness, remained etched in his heart.

Su Rui was a little breathless in his embrace, but she didn't struggle at all. She just let him hold her, her hands gently hugging his waist, her eyes slightly warm. He didn't expect Ling Yao still remembered this.

Ling Yao loosened his grip a little, cupped his face in his hands, and looked deeply into his eyes. His tone was more serious and determined than ever before: "I can make money now, Su Rui. I can give you the best. From now on, I will give you the best of everything, and I will never let you squeeze into that kind of place again."

His fingertips felt slightly hot, his eyes blazing with determination to make amends and a deep, unwavering love. This sudden, heavy "yes" made Su Rui's heart feel both sweet and bitter. She didn't know what to say, so she could only mutter, "...it doesn't matter...none of that matters..."

"It does matter," Ling Yao interrupted him, his tone stubborn. "I think it does matter." He looked around the spacious, luxurious, and well-equipped suite. The floor-to-ceiling windows revealed the dazzling city skyline. "This is the place worthy of you. It's going to be like this from now on."

After saying this, he once again hugged Su Rui tightly in his arms, resting his chin on the top of his head, as if to confirm his presence, and tightened his arms. Su Rui also closed her eyes, leaning against his chest with peace of mind, listening to his strong heartbeat, feeling this lost and regained, real embrace.

The room fell silent, save for the mingling sound of their breathing. Outside the window, the bustling nightscape of Seoul unfolded, and inside, they clung to each other. The longing for separation, the pressure of travel, the facade they had to maintain in public, all vanished in that moment. Only this warm, genuine embrace remained, and the heavy yet sweet vow of "giving you the best."

At this moment, they were no longer the shining idols and the silently waiting lovers, but just two ordinary people who could finally escape from everything and embrace each other tightly. In this way, Ling Yao, clumsily but with great sincerity, made up for the debts of the past and expressed his possession in the present.
