Chapter 63
The early morning sun filtered through the thick curtains of the suite, casting a thin golden streak across the carpet. Ling Yao's biological clock woke him up at the first ray of daylight. He didn't get up immediately, but simply watched Su Rui, who was still sleeping soundly in his arms.
Su Rui's face appeared exceptionally gentle and tranquil in the hazy morning light. His breathing was even, as if he were dreaming a sweet dream, the corners of his mouth slightly curved. Ling Yao's gaze carefully traced his features, his heart filled with tenderness, yet also with a bittersweet feeling of impending separation and reluctance. He moved cautiously, fearing to disturb this peaceful state.
But time was merciless. The alarm clock soon vibrated softly, reminding him to get up and get ready. He gently pulled his arm out, and as soon as he moved, Su Rui opened her eyes drowsily, her eyes still a little dazed. "...What time is it?"
"It's still early, you should sleep a little longer." Ling Yao whispered soothingly, his fingers gently brushing away the loose hair on his forehead, "I have to go put on makeup and style my hair first."
Su Rui instantly woke up and realized what day it was. He shook his head and sat up: "No, I'll take you there."
Ling Yao didn't stop him, just watched him. The two of them washed in silence, a warm yet slightly solemn atmosphere filling the air. Ling Yao changed into the casual clothes his assistant had brought him ahead of time, gradually transitioning from the softness of the night back to his daytime idol mode, his eyes still glued to Su Rui.
Everything was ready, and there was a very light knock on the door from assistant Xiao Chen, indicating that the car had arrived and it was time to set off.
Ling Yao stood at the door, took a deep breath, turned around, held Su Rui's shoulders with both hands, and looked deeply into his eyes.
"Su Rui," his voice was low and earnest, carrying a solemn promise. "Wait for me." Su Rui looked up at him, quietly awaiting his next words. "Wait until I'm no longer an idol who relies solely on traffic for a living," Ling Yao spoke slowly, each word clearly. "Wait until I have real ability, wait until I can successfully transform and gain a firm foothold..."
He paused, his eyes determined. "Wait until I no longer need you to come to see me in secret and fear like this. I want everyone to know that you are the most important person to me."
These weren't sweet words spoken on impulse, but rather a clear plan and commitment to the future, based on careful consideration. He knew that everything he had now was like a castle in the air, and that only with true strength and irreplaceability could he gain a modicum of freedom to control his own life.
Su Rui's heart trembled at his words. He saw the determination in Ling Yao's eyes and understood how difficult this road would be. He nodded heavily, and his thousands of words were reduced to the simplest three words: "I'll wait for you."
Ling Yao looked into his clear and resolute eyes, and the last bit of uneasiness in his heart was soothed. He lowered his head, and solemnly and cherishingly pressed his warm lips to Su Rui's forehead. It was a kiss without desire, only pure promise and farewell.
After the kiss, he let go of Su Rui's hand, his fingertips still seeming to linger on the warmth of Su Rui. "I'm leaving first." He gave Su Rui a last, deep look, as if to engrave his current appearance in her heart. "Today...look at me from the audience."
After saying this, he turned around neatly, opened the door, and walked out quickly without looking back. Assistant Xiao Chen quickly followed, and the door closed gently, isolating himself from the outside world.
Su Rui stood alone in the suddenly quiet luxury suite, the warmth of that kiss still lingering on his forehead, the heavy words "wait for me" echoing in his ears. He walked to the window, opened the curtains a little, and saw the black nanny car slowly driving away from the hotel and merging into the morning traffic.
His heart was filled with a complex emotion: melancholy of parting, anticipation for tonight, and infinite longing for that distant yet firm future.
Today, at the star-studded awards ceremony, he will be a quiet spectator, gazing at the most dazzling person on the stage. And in the future, will they finally stand side by side in the sun?
