Chapter 14 Deserves Death
Inside the SM Group office.
The torrential rain continued outside the floor-to-ceiling windows, and Bo Jinzhou lost his motivation to work; his mood, like the weather, became gloomy.
My right eye kept twitching. I checked the time; it was almost 2 p.m.
He got up, grabbed his suit jacket, put it on, and opened the office door. "Song Zhou, go to the Jiang residence."
With such heavy rain, we might as well go pick her up directly.
Song Zhou got up and glanced at the time; it was only two o'clock.
We booked a restaurant for 5 pm.
The Maybach drove carefully through the rain, which covered the entire windshield like a waterfall, making it difficult to see the road.
The rumbling thunder made people feel irritable.
Bo Jinzhou's phone rang, and his dark, steady eyes suddenly narrowed sharply. There was only one photo in the text message.
In the torrential rain, her slender and frail body was bent over by the heavy rain, her entire back covered in blood. She knelt there, only her forehead showing.
The background is the front yard of the Jiang residence.
"Master Zhang, drive faster."
Upon hearing this, Mr. Zhang sped up and focused intently on the road.
Song Zhou was somewhat worried, "President Bo, there's still plenty of time before the agreed time. The rain is too heavy and could easily cause traffic accidents."
Bo Jinzhou's hands were trembling. The text message was anonymous; it couldn't have been sent to him for no reason. "I need to be at the Jiang residence in ten minutes."
Song Zhou understands Bo Jinzhou; he wouldn't have been so extreme if it weren't for an unexpected incident.
The only possibility is that something happened to Jiang Yimian.
Mr. Zhang is a veteran driver with over 20 years of experience. He has top-notch driving skills and excellent eyesight.
Even though they took a shortcut, it still took them fifteen minutes to get to the Jiang residence.
The ornate European-style iron gate opened automatically, and a servant came out to drag Jiang Yimian away.
The Maybach came at an extremely fast speed, drifting right up to them, and the servant was so frightened that she fell to the ground.
Jiang Yimian turned her head to look. The black Maybach was tall and solemn. A smile appeared on her lips, and her eyes, which had been wet with rain, regained their vitality.
In a blur, a tall, familiar figure appeared. She lost her balance, closed her eyes, and fell. Bo Jinzhou reached out and caught her, his knees sinking into the blood. His eyes were bloodshot, his heart was trembling, and he was in so much pain that he could hardly breathe.
He pulled her into his arms, but dared not pull too hard. She was cold and soaking wet, and Bo Jinzhou could not feel her body temperature. A huge panic enveloped him.
His eyes were sinister as he looked at Lu Wenchang, Lu Yiwan, and the others who had rushed over.
Song Zhou opened the umbrella, but Bo Jinzhou and Jiang Yimian were already soaked.
Lu Yiwan covered her mouth, wanting to explain, "Ah Jin!..."
Bo Jinzhou picked up Jiang Yimian and put her in the car without stopping. Song Zhou quickly closed the umbrella and got into the car. The black Maybach drove away from the Jiang residence at the speed of a sports car.
Lu Yiwan was so frightened that she took two steps back and grabbed Lu Wenchang's hand. "Dad... what should we do? Ajin knows."
Lu Wenchang's heart had been pounding in his throat ever since he learned that Bo Jinzhou had arrived.
Su Hui panicked. "Honey, will Bo Jinzhou break off the engagement with Wanwan in a fit of anger?"
"Don't worry, don't worry, with Bo Qingshan here, nothing will happen." Lu Wenchang could only offer this reassurance as he kept staring in the direction the car had left, even though it was no longer in sight.
*
Bo Jinzhou wanted to hold her tightly, but he was afraid of hurting her wounds, so he wrapped her in a spare suit from the car. The car was heated, but she was still cold, like a corpse.
A few strands of the man's hair, which he had combed back, were wet and fell out. Water droplets fell with the strands of hair. His thick eyebrows were furrowed, and his eyes were filled with fear. His large palm trembled as he touched her pale cheek.
"Master Zhang, go faster."
Mr. Zhang's eyes showed heartache and disbelief; such a lovely girl had been tortured like this.
After Song Zhou contacted the hospital, he looked at the woman in Bo Jinzhou's arms in the back seat, his eyes filled with pity, and he didn't dare to look any longer.
Every glance revealed Jiang Yimian's lifeless face.
The girl in his arms moved her lips and made a soft sound.
Bo Jinzhou moved closer to listen carefully.
"……it hurts."
These words caused Bo Jinzhou even more inner turmoil.
His mind was in complete disarray for the first time; he had promised her he would take good care of her.
But he was gone for seven years. Did she suffer such hardship during those seven years?
Bo Jinzhou dared not think too deeply; he would only grow more afraid.
Upon arriving at the hospital entrance, the hospital director, doctors, and nurses were on high alert. Bo Jinzhou carried her tightly as they got out of the car. A doctor stepped forward and said, "Mr. Bo, put the patient on the emergency bed and leave her to us."
Bo Jinzhou was unwilling to let go; he felt empty and uncertain. "I carried her inside."
The hospital director, who was in his fifties or sixties, advised, "Mr. Bo, this will delay this young lady's treatment."
Bo Jinzhou's eyes were bloodshot as he looked at Jiang Yimian in his arms with heartache, and finally placed her on the emergency bed.
Jiang Yimian was rushed into the emergency room.
Bo Jinzhou stood there, his tall figure looking somewhat dejected, his eyes fixed on the operating room door.
Song Zhou handed over a towel, "President Bo, please wipe yourself down."
Bo Jinzhou remained silent for a long time before finally speaking in a hoarse voice: "Song Zhou, if she has been living like this for the past seven years..."
He felt as if an invisible hand was gripping his throat, rendering him speechless and causing him to gasp for breath. "...Then I deserve to die."
Song Zhou's eyes were complicated, and he looked regretful: "President Bo, this is not your fault."
"Nobody knew that something like this would happen to Miss Jiang."
It's his fault, of course; he failed to protect her.
Jiang Yimian's wound became infected, and she also developed hypothermia; her condition was very bad.
It didn't stabilize until midnight.
Bo Jinzhou stayed by her bedside, looking at her weak appearance, he closed his eyes and looked at her with a face full of tenderness.
Jiang Yimian started to feel cold, shivering all over, and muttering words that were hard to understand.
The doctor was called, and Bo Jinzhou could only watch helplessly as she spoke.
She was calling for her mother, begging him to save her.
Bo Jinzhou reached up and wiped his eyes, his palm becoming wet.
He walked out of the ward, and Song Zhou found out who sent the text message.
“Mr. Bo, the person who sent the text message is a maid at the Jiang residence. She said she can't show her face because she needs this job to support her family.”
Bo Jinzhou had dark circles under his eyes, looked exhausted, and exuded a ruthless aura.
"Bring Lu Wenchang here."
Song Zhou nodded and withdrew.
Jiang Yimian finally calmed down by dawn.
Lu Wenchang and Su Hui were forced to kneel in front of the ward door, while Lu Yiwan knelt there crying and begging for mercy.
Her eyes were swollen from crying, making her look especially pitiful.
Bo Jinzhou stayed by her bedside, wiping her face with a towel. This was the VIP ward area, and there weren't many people around.
A group of people hurried down the corridor.
Bo Qingshan lowered his eyes and looked at Lu Wenchang, whose face was ashen but dared not lash out.
"I want to see Ah Jin."
Song Zhou: "Our CEO Bo is not seeing anyone now."
Bo Qingshan: "Nonsense! No matter what, Lu Wenchang is still his future father-in-law. How can we let him keep kneeling?"
Song Zhou replied in a businesslike manner: "I don't know about that. I only know that our CEO Bo said he wouldn't see anyone."
"No one can plead for me."
