Chapter 1 Anseong

In Ancheng, it was still extremely hot in the afternoon in October.

Yan Cuo walked along this unfamiliar street, then suddenly stopped. On either side were lush green trees, now covered in dust. Horns honked incessantly, and cars sped past, seemingly everyone heading for their own destination.

Yan Cuo wondered where was the place they were so eager to go to, and where was his home?

At Ancheng No. 1 Middle School, Yan Cuo stood with his large schoolbag on his back, looking out at the unfamiliar campus, feeling a bit uneasy. A class was in progress, and the sound of reading aloud filled the air.

Yan Cuo thought firmly that this would be his home.

When the bell rang, many people walked out of each classroom. Some had sad faces, some had smiling faces, and they all had the youthful aura unique to this age.

Yan Cuo stood there at a loss. A young woman came towards her. She looked gentle and smiled at Yan Cuo: "Are you Yan Cuo, the new student who transferred to our class?" Yan Cuo nodded, and then she saw the gentle woman holding her hand. It was a pair of warm hands that made Yan Cuo's heart seem warm.

She followed her blankly as they walked into a classroom. She glanced at the sign at the door: Grade 1, Class 3. She quietly took note. The class looked at her curiously, some searching, some curious. Yan Cuo was a little nervous, tugging at the corner of her clothes. She looked at the gentle woman, who smiled at her and led her to the podium.

"Classmates, please be quiet for a moment. This is our new transfer student, Yan Cuo. We will be classmates from now on. Welcome everyone."

Yan Cuo lowered his head and clutched the corner of his clothes. "Yan Cuo, I'm Teacher Tang, the head teacher of Class 3, Grade 7. You can come to me if you have any questions from now on."

Yancuo looked up at her. She still had that gentle smile, like the sun, warming his heart. She looked at the curious faces below and said softly, "Hello everyone, I'm Yancuo. Nice to meet you." Then she bowed deeply. Applause broke out in the class, and Yancuo felt a little happy. It turned out that he could do it too.

The bell rang for class, and Teacher Tang asked her to choose a seat by herself. Yan Cuo chose a seat by the window and sat down quietly.

The first period was math. The math teacher was a middle-aged man who looked very serious. Yancuo opened the new textbook and felt a little lost. He hadn't opened a textbook in a long time. Looking at the unfamiliar content in the book, Yancuo thought, I need to work hard.

She looked at the blackboard intently, taking notes carefully. She had fallen behind a lot, but if she took it slow and worked hard, she would eventually catch up, Yancuo encouraged herself.

After class, Yan Cuo sat in her seat, quietly reading the still somewhat unfamiliar book. She knew she wasn't smart, she had known it since she was a child, otherwise she wouldn't be able to do it, she wouldn't be able to do it, she smiled bitterly.

This new environment gave her a good feeling, she liked it here. She had to work hard, even for herself. Yan Cuo thought so.

Soon, school was over. Yancuo put on her schoolbag and walked out of the school gate. Occasionally, a few classmates greeted her, and she just smiled gently.

So having friends feels this way. Yan Cuo raised the corner of his mouth and headed for home. Is it home? It should be. After all, this is the only place he has now.
