Chapter 11: The Past Is Like a Thorn

They smiled at him now. It had been three years since they last saw him. Yan Cuo felt a little sad looking at the parents who had always disliked him since he was a child. In the past three years, they had never come to look for him, as if he had never existed.

The guard asked her, "Do you know these two people? They said they were your parents, but they couldn't tell me your class, so I asked them to wait here. See if they are people you know." Yan Cuo suppressed the bitterness in his heart and turned away: "I don't know them."

The two people were anxious at this moment, "Yan Cuo, I'm your mother, how could you not recognize me, your mother is here to see you." Yan Cuo looked at the people in front of him expressionlessly, and all the past memories came flooding back to his mind. "Didn't you guys abandon me? Why are you still looking for me?"

The woman seemed to be surprised that Yancuo would say such a thing, and her face turned a little ugly. She wanted to pull her hand, but Yancuo took a step back, avoiding her touch.

The man's expression was also very ugly, and at this moment his face turned black. "You heartless bastard, we raised you until you were so old, and now you just say you don't recognize me, right?"

Yan Cuo turned and looked at him, a mocking smile tugging at the corners of his mouth. "When did you ever raise me? Grandma took care of me from childhood. You only saw me a few times a year. After Grandma passed away, you all abandoned me like a piece of trash. Only Uncle was kind enough to take care of me. Now you claim to be my parents, but what kind of parents are you if you give birth to a child but don't raise him?"

The woman covered her face and started crying. The man raised his hand and was about to slap her. Yan Cuo stood there motionless. If this was what he had to endure, then this would be the last time.

She will never feel sad for them again in the future. She has long regarded her uncle and aunt as her own parents. They make up for the lack of family affection in her heart. In the future, she will only be filial to them and accompany them in their old age.

The man didn't slap her in the end. He looked at his stubborn daughter. For the first time, he felt that he might be wrong. He had ignored her for so many years and missed all her growth.

He pulled up the woman who was crying uncontrollably and left. Yan Cuo looked at their backs, feeling somewhat lonely. Thinking of all these years, they had ignored him, and thinking of the fact that they didn't want him anymore, he couldn't help crying.

When he was young, Yancuo often wondered if he had done something wrong. Why did his parents never like him? No matter what he did or how good his grades were, he never received a single compliment from them.

When they looked at her, their faces were mostly expressionless, as if the person before them wasn't their daughter, but just a stranger. When she was young, she would cry when she saw other children being loved by their parents. She didn't understand why, and when she asked them, she always got no answer.

Later, when she grew up, she realized that it might be because her birth was a mistake, so she ended up being ignored by her father and mother.

Only grandma, only grandma, would always look at me with doting eyes and say to me, "Our Yanyan is the best and grandma's favorite child."

It was she who told him over and over again that he was not a child without love, and that she had taught him so much. Yan Cuo looked up at the sky and thought to himself, Grandma is such a good person, she should have turned into a star now, looking down at him from the sky.

Yan Cuo wiped away her tears and walked back to the classroom. Su He came over and asked her with concern: "Are you okay? Who is looking for you?" Yan Cuo tried hard to smile and looked at her: "It's okay, just two strangers."

Su He looked at her red eyes in disbelief: "Then why are your eyes red?" Yan Cuo smiled: "It's windy outside and I was blinded." Seeing that she didn't want to say anything, Su He didn't ask any more questions.

During the afternoon class, Yancuo was a little distracted. The teacher asked her to answer questions several times, but she got them wrong. After class, she was called to the teacher's office and given a lecture. After that, Yancuo returned to the classroom feeling a little disappointed.

She knew she couldn't go on like this, but the past events were like thorns piercing her heart.

Why did they still come? If they didn't want me anymore, what was the point of coming? Replaying the past scene by scene, Yan Cuo became more and more determined. He couldn't be like the past, he couldn't be sad for them anymore, he couldn't become so humble anymore.
