The food they ordered arrived quickly, several plates of food that looked quite appetizing. Su He looked at the yellow pancake-like thing in front of him and asked curiously, "Is this wheat cake?"
Yancuo nodded, "Yes, this is wheat cake, made of wheat, the filling inside is delicious, you try it."
Su He took a bite, and his mouth was filled with fragrance. It was oily but not greasy. He was addicted to it and kept eating it. After eating, he gave a thumbs up, "Yancuo, I have never eaten this before, but it tastes really good. I think I can eat several of them at once."
Yan Cuo looked at her and said, "You should eat within your capacity. Don't eat too much and feel stuffed. This fried vermicelli is also a specialty. You should try it."
Su He nodded and continued eating the wheat cake in her hand. She peeled off the golden outer skin, revealing the beans inside, and looked quite curious. "The filling inside is actually beans. I didn't like beans before, but they taste really good and fragrant when put in this."
Yan Cuo smiled and said, "There are many kinds. I've tried shredded radish, pickled mustard greens, and tofu. They're all very good. I used to eat this in the morning and I wouldn't feel hungry all morning."
After Su He finished the one in his hand, he started to eat the bowl of fried vermicelli in front of him. The fried vermicelli was the thinner kind, and looked no different from ordinary fried vermicelli, except that a lot of side dishes were added to it. Occasionally, there would be a few burnt pieces stuck together. He picked up a piece and put it in his mouth. It was very tasty and made people eat it one bite after another without stopping.
The two boys also kept dealing with the delicious food in front of them. Gu Xuran showed a rare look of appreciation, "Yancuo, the snacks here in your hometown are really good. They taste better than what I eat outside. I haven't eaten so much in a long time."
As they were talking, the four small wheat cakes and four bowls of fried vermicelli noodles that Yancuo had ordered were almost gone, leaving only the portion in Yancuo's hand. Su He had already started to burp, but he couldn't help but look in Yancuo's direction.
Seeing her pitiful look at him, Yan Cuo raised the cake in his hand. "Do you want more?" Su He nodded. Yan Cuo tore off half of it and gave it to her. Su He quickly took it and ate it with a satisfied look on her face.
"I, I'll come back next time!" Su He said, her mouth full. The proprietress in the distance heard her and looked at her with a smile, "If you like it, come back often next time. I've been running this shop for more than ten years, and the taste hasn't changed."
Su He nodded at the boss lady, "Okay, I will come here often in the future. Your cooking skills are really good."
The proprietress smiled innocently, still busy with her work, "As long as you like it, it's good."
After eating and drinking her fill, Su He was too full to walk. Yan Cuo helped her out, said goodbye to the proprietress, and left.
The four of them walked along the way, all feeling a little full from eating. Su He walked unsteadily and almost bumped into a telephone pole. Yan Cuo hurriedly ran up to support her to prevent her from falling.
Gu Xuran looked helpless from behind. Looking at the crooked figure, he wanted to go forward and hold her hand. Yu Muyang pulled him back, looked at the people in front, and said lovingly, "Let them make a fuss."
In the distance, Yan Cuo had a long-lost smile on her face. She had been tense for so long since coming here, but now she could finally show a genuine smile. Yu Muyang felt a sense of satisfaction in his heart.
As long as she is happy, nothing else matters. Watching her laugh and make noise is my happiness.
Gu Xuran looked at him and understood what was going on, so he followed them from a distance and did not go forward to disturb them.
Yan Cuo walked on this familiar street, his heart was clear. With so many people around him, what did he have to fear or worry about?
As they walked along, an old woman suddenly walked out from the front. She looked at Yan Cuo and asked tentatively, "Are you the granddaughter of the old Yan family?"
Yancuo looked at the old man in front of him, a little confused, "I am, who are you?"
Hearing her affirmative answer, the old man came forward excitedly and grabbed her hand, "It really is you. I haven't seen you for so many years, you don't even recognize me. I'm an old friend of your grandmother. We've known each other since before I got married. I held you in my arms when I was a child, but later I followed my son to another place, so we haven't seen each other for a long time."
Yan Cuo looked at the old woman in front of her, and her memory suddenly went back to many years ago. At that time, her grandmother was still young and had a close friend who would come to chat with her every day. The friendship between the two was very strong, and she could often see the sincere smile on her grandmother's face.
That smile was different from the one when she looked at me. Grandma was truly relaxed in front of her. The tacit understanding between the two of them, as they confided their thoughts to each other, was something I had never seen on Grandma's face before.
When Yan Cuo was a child, he felt a little strange looking at this old woman who was about the same age as his grandmother, but he never avoided her arms. This old woman, like his grandmother, could give him a warm and secure feeling.
Now looking at the white-haired old man in front of her, Yan Cuo had the illusion that time had suddenly passed, as if she was still that little girl, and the old man in front of her was still chatting and laughing with her grandmother.
Yan Cuo looked at her, his eyes slightly reddened, "Grandma Xu, I know you. You are my best friend and someone who treats me very well. How could I forget you?"
The old woman's eyes were red as she recalled the past. "In the blink of an eye, you've grown up, but your grandmother... It's all my fault. I shouldn't have left then, otherwise I wouldn't have missed seeing her for the last time. This old sister has been with me my whole life. She said she would die after me, but who knew she would leave so suddenly? I won't have anyone to talk to anymore."
