After the Spring Festival, Yancuo returned to school. The countdown to the third year of junior high school had already begun. The bright red numbers on the classroom blackboard were the countdown to the high school entrance examination, and the number of days was decreasing day by day.
They had moved from the previous teaching building to the current Grade 9 teaching building. Yan Cuo was overwhelmed with emotion at this place where Yu Muyang had once been. It seemed like just yesterday, yet so much time had passed.
The time in the third year of junior high school seemed to pass by very quickly. Getting up early and returning home late every day seemed to have become the norm. Every time after school, walking at that familiar intersection, Yancuo would always think of him.
Suddenly, I seemed to see those two figures again, one in front and one behind. The boy's face was expressionless, sometimes with a faint smile. The girl followed cautiously, looking timid.
They had walked this familiar street together countless times. Thinking of it now, it was all just fond memories.
The weather was gradually getting hotter, and the countdown was only in the double digits. It was impossible not to be nervous, but she held on to that hope in her heart, forcing herself to persevere.
Hard work pays off, and by this time, Yancuo was already among the top five students in his grade. Everyone in the class was envious of him; who could have imagined that someone who had been at the bottom of the class when he first arrived would suddenly be in the top five?
Teacher Tang had high expectations for her and helped her in many ways. Yancuo was grateful and repaid her with even greater effort and better grades.
A lot of changes happened this year. My uncle got a promotion, and my aunt treated Yancuo like her own daughter, preparing every detail of her daily life for her.
The family would often chat about daily life at the dinner table. My uncle would tell me about interesting things happening at his company, and Yancuo would talk about things that happened at school. There were often bursts of laughter at the dinner table, and the family was harmonious and happy.
Yancuo often thought that among the lights of thousands of homes, there was always someone waiting for him. How lucky and happy he was.
The day before the high school entrance exam, the school was closed, giving the third-year students a day to review at home. Yan Cuo stayed in his room, looking at the table full of review materials, feeling a strong sense of nervousness.
Three years of hard work, countless days and nights, all for that one moment in the exam room. It was about where I would go, about whether I could stand by his side.
Yancuo was lost in thought, staring at the trees outside the window. They looked about the same as when he had come here three years ago, still as lush and vigorous. If there was any difference, it was probably that the leaves were thicker, appearing more vibrant.
Yan Cuo looked downstairs and remembered what Yu Muyang had said before, that he had looked at him countless times in that place. What was his mood? Was he also like himself, a little anxious, but at a loss?
Yancuo looked at it quietly for a while, then turned back to continue reviewing. There was a sound coming from the window, and Yancuo hurried to see. He saw him standing downstairs, smiling at him.
Yan Cuo hurried downstairs. After not seeing him for a few days, he seemed to have become more mature. He was now 18 years old and had shed some of his childishness. Looking at himself, it seemed that he had not changed much.
In fact, Yancuo had already begun to grow taller this year, the baby fat on her face gradually falling off, revealing the youthful appearance of a young girl. Her skin color gradually became whiter, and she was no longer the pale and thin look before. At this moment, the girl was wearing a white short-sleeved shirt and black denim shorts, standing timidly in front of him.
Yu Muyang was very happy, thinking that in the near future they would be in the same school and could see each other every day, the corners of his mouth rose slightly.
"Are you nervous? I have the high school entrance exam tomorrow." Yan Cuo rubbed his hands. It would be a lie to say that he wasn't nervous, but this was the only way to his destination, and no mistakes were allowed.
She looked at him and nodded, then shook her head firmly: "I'm not nervous, I'm ready, just wait for me, I will definitely come." Yu Muyang looked at her and smiled: "Yeah, I believe you, we can go to school together again in the future."
Yan Cuo's eyes curved with a smile, looking at him with hope. At this moment, the boy was in the best form of youth, the summer sun shining on him, and his body seemed to be shining.
The two chatted a lot together. Yu Muyang told her a lot about Yanfen High School. Yancuo couldn't help but look forward to it even more. She was full of hope for that unknown place, not just for him, but also for herself and for the people who loved her. She had to go there.
It was the same street, the same scorching sun, the same two people, but something had changed. After they walked together for a while, Yu Muyang suddenly turned around and looked at her, "Have you read all the notes I gave you?" Yan Cuo lowered her head shyly, "I've read one, and I have two more to go. I'll wait until after the high school entrance exam to read them."
Yu Muyang looked at her and smiled, "Well, let's see after the exam." The boy's voice was soft, but it seemed to tickle Yan Cuo's heart. Yan Cuo felt his face burning instantly and ran forward, "I'm going home, you should go back early too. Wait for my good news."
Yancuo yelled at him, turned and ran away. The boy stood there, watching the running figure dotingly, then turned and left quietly.
After that conflict with his family, Yu Muyang finally made some compromises. He began to learn some things about the company and slowly took over the family business. As a result, he was always running between the company and school, and never had time to visit Yancuo.
He skipped classes this time, and he knew he shouldn't have done that, but looking at Yan Cuo's smiling face, it seemed like everything was worth it.
The next morning, Yan Cuo washed up early and packed her things for the exam. Her aunt also got up early and prepared breakfast for her. Then she gave her careful instructions: "Did you bring your admission ticket? Your pencil, eraser, and black pen. Bring plenty of them. This is your first major exam in your life, so don't take it lightly."
