Chapter 7 Waiting for You to Grow Up

The three of them were busy from morning to noon. After having a quick meal, my uncle went out to buy some firecrackers.

Yancuo planned to tidy up his room. His desk was a bit messy, with all kinds of documents scattered around. Yancuo put them away one by one and sorted them into categories.

Beside the bed were three notebooks Yu Muyang had given her, which had been flipped through countless times and were densely written with words. Yan Cuo looked at the notebooks and seemed to see their owner, writing them furiously.

Yancuo thought that one day she would become as good as him. She flipped open a book and suddenly found that the last two pages were stuck together. Yancuo had never noticed it before, but now she saw it, she felt a little excited, as if she had discovered a little secret.

She carefully separated the glued pages and read the contents, but she couldn't help but freeze in her tracks. In an instant, the notebook felt incredibly heavy, and she panicked for a moment, unable to tell the difference between real and fake.

There were only a few lines of words on the notebook, but those few words touched my heart.

Little girl, I don’t know when you can see these. We have known each other for a long time, and your every frown and smile are imprinted in my mind.

When I first met you, you were a brave little girl who would bravely face the bad guys for me. Your cowardly yet brave appearance was deeply engraved in my heart.

Later, when a girl confessed to me, I was very troubled, and then I saw you. I looked at you, wondering if you would do anything, but I forgot that you were still a little girl.

But it doesn't matter, I will wait for you to grow up, wait for you to come with me to see the thousands of miles of flowers. Promise me that you must come, I will wait for you.

After reading it, Yan Cuo's eyes were filled with tears.

It turned out that he had been waiting for her so long ago. It turned out that those countless times of companionship and countless times of silence were all manifestations of the young man's thoughts.

The other two notebooks also had traces of glue at the back, but Yancuo didn't dare open them. He'd wait until after the high school entrance exam, Yancuo thought. Only when he could stand beside him could he respond to the joy and anticipation in his heart.

Yancuo calmed down and continued to clean the room. When he came out, he saw that his aunt had already started cooking. There were many dishes to cook for the New Year's Eve dinner. Although there were only three of them, the atmosphere still had to be good.

My aunt was going to cook ten dishes, and many of them were still unprepared. Yancuo went to my aunt's side and washed and selected the vegetables. The two of them worked in an orderly manner, and the aroma of vegetables wafted from the kitchen.

By the time the dishes were cooked, it was already evening and firecrackers were blasting outside. The fireworks in the sky were dazzling and brilliant, as if blooming into smiling faces.

The whole city was filled with an atmosphere of joy. Yan Cuo wondered what he was doing at the moment. Had he reconciled with his parents?

At the dinner table, his uncle drank a little wine, which was rare for him, and chattered about interesting things in his life. Yancuo looked at his slightly drunk face and felt infinite emotion.

It was this man who took me in, sent me to school, and gave me a place to live. This man, who was even better than my parents, brought so many touching moments to my life.

Yan Cuo thought about this and raised his glass. "Uncle and aunt, thank you for taking care of me for so long. In my heart, I have long regarded you as the closest people. Don't worry, I will work hard to bring honor to you."

Yan Cuo's eyes were red as he drank the drink in his glass in one gulp, feeling infinite gratitude towards the two relatives in front of him. His aunt seemed a little awkward, but she also finished the drink in her glass.

The uncle looked at Yancuo with a little excitement: "Yancuo, it's my sister and the others who are short-sighted. You are a good child, so just follow us without worry. We will treat you as our own child and treat you well."

Yan Cuo nodded heavily. He had already felt their love and care. All he could do was study hard and repay them when he grew up.

"Today is New Year's Eve, let's not talk about such heavy topics, just eat some food." Auntie spoke at the right time, and everyone came out of the atmosphere just now. Yancuo drank her drink and ate her food, while the fireworks outside illuminated the sky, just like her mood at the moment, brilliant and bright.

Everything is just as I wanted it, which is something I never dared to imagine in the past.
