Chapter 480 Enticing a Change of Route

Oh no, God, I haven't lived enough yet, I really don't want to participate in something so terrifying.

Chang Yin's heart skipped a beat; he hadn't expected Blake to know the secrets of Base 5. But he quickly composed himself and lowered his voice mysteriously, "Captain, you don't know this, but I have a brother at Base 5. He secretly told me that the base is short-handed lately."

If we can get there safely, we'll not only receive support, but we might even make a great contribution, leading to a promotion and a raise in no time!

Blake stopped in his tracks, a greedy glint in his eyes: "Jon, are you sure you're telling the truth? Don't lie to me!"

"Captain, I never lie. Besides, I have no reason to lie to you. Furthermore, you should know better than me that even if we go to Base 5, we won't have much of an advantage. I'm doing all this for you."

Chang Yin said with a serious expression, "Captain, if you still don't believe me, everything will be clear once we get to Base 5 and meet my brother."

He paused, looked around, and then added, "However, this must be kept secret. If others find out, our credit will be stolen."

Blake pondered for a moment, his expression a mixture of worry and uncertainty. He was both concerned about the dangers of going to Base 5 and unwilling to miss this opportunity to make a contribution.

Just then, a gunshot rang out in the distance, startling a flock of crows into flight from the woods. Chang Yin was secretly pleased; this was a "twist" they had arranged to put pressure on Blake.

"Captain, listen!" Chang Yin's expression changed. "The gunshots aren't far from us. The Goddess's people might have already caught up! We need to make a decision quickly, or it will be too late!"

Blake's face instantly turned grim. He gripped his gun tightly, glancing around as if he could spot the enemy at any moment. Finally, he gritted his teeth: "Fine! We'll go to Base 5! But if anything goes wrong, I think Jon, you'd be a good scapegoat!"

Chang Yin secretly breathed a sigh of relief, but on the surface he remained respectful: "Yes! I will follow the captain's orders!"

The gunshot shattered the silence of Blake's group, and Blake quickly gathered everyone together and set off immediately.

The US troops here weren't just from Blake's team; there were also members from the team that should have separated from Chang Yin's squad at the rendezvous point. Blake was so confident going to Base 5 because his team now numbered nearly 200.

With so many people, they represent a considerable fighting force.

"Hey, Jon, take out that map and let me see it."
