In the late 1960s, Japanese pirates had unique characteristics. Most of them were short in stature but strong in build, and their skin was dark and rough from long periods of time at sea, eroded by the sun and sea wind.
Their hair was casually tied back in a round bun, with a few stray strands flying wildly in the wind, adding to their wild and untamed air. Their eyes gleamed with ferocity and greed, like hungry wolves eyeing their prey, sending chills down one's spine.
The pirates' equipment was quite sophisticated for the overall strength of Japan. Their ships were sturdy and agile, with sharp bows that allowed them to easily cut through the waves and navigate complex sea conditions with ease.
The ship was equipped with advanced cannons on both sides, their dark muzzles pointing directly at Tang Yue and her companions, gleaming with a cold metallic luster, as if they were about to spew out deadly flames at any moment.
The pirates, some clutching Kawakami Type 64 rifles and others carrying SCIK66 9mm submachine guns, grinned menacingly towards Tang Yue's ship. These two types of guns were the latest weapons developed by Japan, exquisitely crafted and undeniably powerful.
They were also wearing lightweight but tough leather armor, which could protect them from attacks to some extent without hindering their movement on the ship.
As the pirate ship drew closer, the tension intensified, like an invisible net tightly enveloping Tang Yue and Gu Yanxi. Everyone could sense that a breathtaking battle was about to erupt, a fight for survival.
As the pirate ship approached within firing range, the battle erupted instantly. The pirates opened fire without hesitation, and cannonballs, whistling sharply, rained down on Tang Yue and Gu Yanxi's ship.
Huge columns of water were kicked up from the sea by the cannonballs, some of which were aimed directly at Tang Yue's ship. It was easy to imagine that even if the ship wasn't hit by the cannonballs, the impact of these water columns alone would damage it. The air was also filled with the acrid smell of gunpowder.
Tang Yue and Gu Yanxi reacted quickly. Tang Yue used her spiritual power to casually create a transparent spiritual energy shield around the ship to defend against the pirates' cannon fire.
The spiritual energy shield fluctuated and deformed under the impact of the cannonballs. Tang Yue only symbolically maintained the spiritual energy shield from breaking. Just kidding, if the pirates felt there was no hope, would they still come to rob them?
The sound of cannons at sea is now very loud, and people in the cabins are starting to come out one after another to investigate the situation. Although Tang Yue rescued these people, she feels little emotion towards them other than sympathy.
Trust? Far from it. It's not that Tang Yue is cold-blooded, but the fact that these people came to Japan is strange in itself. Many were indeed kidnapped by the Japanese. But others secretly came by fishing boat to earn more money.
If they hadn't been exploited by the Japanese here, would they still miss their homeland so much? Human nature is complex, and Tang Yue dared not gamble.
Also, it is said that people's hearts are fickle, and these people have little to do with her, so Tang Yue does not want to reveal too much to them.
Gu Yanxi led the crew on board in a resistance using the ship's limited resources. They piled heavy planks and debris along the ship's sides as makeshift fortifications to reduce the damage caused by direct hits from cannonballs.
Meanwhile, they found some iron bars, ropes and other items and made them into simple weapons, preparing to fight the pirates in close combat when they boarded the ship.
Seeing that the cannon fire had not been effective and that the ship showed no signs of sinking, the pirates quickly approached in their ships, attempting to board and plunder it.
They skillfully maneuvered the ship, using the ebb and flow of the waves to cleverly avoid the obstacles posed by the water, and quickly approached. As the distance closed, the pirates, armed with various guns, opened fire wildly on the people on board.
Seeing that the pirates had stopped bombarding them with cannon fire, Tang Yue used her spiritual energy to shield them. At this moment, bullets whistled past, and people were injured from time to time because they couldn't dodge in time, and painful groans echoed on the ship.
Tang Yue narrowed her eyes slightly. This was good. Knowing the dangers of returning home made her realize how precious home was, and she wouldn't be easily swayed into wanting to go to a foreign country to find a better life.
However, Tang Yue only wanted to teach them a profound lesson, and naturally she would protect their lives.
Facing the pirates' frenzied attack, Tang Yue and Gu Yanxi did not back down. Tang Yue's figure flashed, appearing like a ghost at the ship's side, her long sword flashing coldly.
Her swordsmanship was fierce; each swing accurately deflected the pirates' bullets while simultaneously counterattacking any approaching pirates. Her movements were fluid and seamless, leaving the audience breathless.
Gu Yanxi was not to be outdone. Holding a new Japanese pistol, he engaged in a fierce close-quarters gunfight with the pirates from behind a makeshift shelter made of wooden crates and other materials.
His marksmanship was extremely accurate; with each shot, screams of agony could be heard coming from the pirate ship. Although the pirates were fierce, they had to be wary under Gu Yanxi's marksmanship, and for a time they couldn't get even an inch closer to their ship.
However, the number of pirates was enormous. Tang Yue and her crew were gradually surrounded by several pirate ships, and the encirclement was constantly shrinking.
They saw that only one large and one small person were blocking the way from the surrounded ship, while everyone else was hiding in safe shelters. Yet, these two individuals were putting considerable pressure on them.
The pirates were enraged. They began charging at the ship recklessly, some even jumping into the sea to try and reach the ship from underwater and climb onto the gunwale.
The crew worked together, attacking the approaching pirates with sticks and other weapons, while using forks, hammers and other tools to try to prevent the pirates from boarding the ship from underwater.
