Tang Yue and Tang Shengkai exchanged a glance; Xu Zhiwei truly couldn't bear to watch. However, they also received new information: Qian Xing wanted to join the army.
Uncle Xu was about to give Xu Zhiwei another flick on the forehead when Tang Shengkai grabbed his wrist and stopped him. "Uncle, he's just a kid, he speaks his mind, and he didn't say anything wrong."
Uncle Xu apologized to Chang Yin, "Um, Battalion Commander Chang, I'm really sorry, this kid just talks too fast every day, he says everything. Please don't take it to heart."
Chang Yin smiled; he found Xu Zhiwei rather interesting. It was truly remarkable how much weight he'd gained these days. But the kid hadn't gone astray. He was just a bit sharp-tongued.
"It's okay, I'm happy that he complimented my looks."
Xu Zhiwei's eyes widened, but before he could open his mouth, his second uncle covered his mouth. This kid never said anything nice.
Xu Zhiwei forcefully pulled his second uncle's hand away. "Grandpa, what are you doing? I just wanted to say that the battalion commander's voice is quite pleasant to hear."
Uncle Xu cut him off again. He was afraid the next thing he said wouldn't be nice.
Today, we were brought here by a military vehicle. Everyone got into the back of the vehicle, and Xu Zhiwei curiously touched and looked at this and that, occasionally sharing his observations with Tang Yue.
"Ugh, ugly thing."
Tang Yue glared at him, her voice leisurely, "If you call me ugly again, I'll pull out your tongue."
Xu Zhiwei smacked his lips. "Oh, I know you're not ugly anymore, but I'm used to calling you that. Have you forgotten how awful you looked when you were sick? Most people would have nightmares if they saw you like that."
"Let me tell you, this is only because I have the guts..."
Tang Yue directly pressed Xu Zhiwei's acupoint to silence him. This kid is really too annoying; he can't say a single nice word.
Xu Zhiwei stared wide-eyed at Tang Yue, wondering what she meant. He tried to open his mouth several times, but couldn't utter a word. He was so frightened he was about to cry.
Uncle Xu was telling Tang Shengkai what had happened in the village after they left when he noticed that his eldest grandson had shut his mouth, so he immediately turned around curiously.
Then he saw Xu Zhiwei looking at him with teary eyes, pleading for help.
Uncle Xu, for some reason, even teased him, "Hey, why aren't you saying anything? Finally quiet? Let me have some peace and quiet. You're never going to stop, are you?"
Chang Yin chuckled softly, her fist pressed to her lips. In truth, these two, grandfather and grandson, were equally matched.
Xu Zhiwei dropped two golden beans.
Uncle Xu was shocked. Seeing Xu Zhiwei gesturing and unable to speak, he began to panic. What's going on? This child seems to have forgotten how to talk?
He looked at Tang Yue anxiously, "Yueyue, what's wrong with Zhiwei?"
