Chapter 7: Fainting
Jiang Qingning's expression turned cold, and he retorted indifferently:
"Could it be that I embarrassed you?
Xun Chen, are you and I divorced now, or do you want to cross the line?
Do I need to remind you again and again that whether I live or die has nothing to do with you.
So what if you show up in public? You have no status or position to criticize me."
"Oh, as long as the divorce agreement is not submitted to the official archives, you will be detained as the wife of the Marquis of Anping.
"A married woman must obey her husband. When have you ever respected me? If I don't force you, I will only bring shame to the Anping Marquis's mansion." Xun Chen was extremely indifferent.
Even though Jiang Qingning had seen Xun Chen's indifference towards her, she was still hurt by his cold words.
She was engaged to Xun Chen since birth and was destined to be a wife of the Xun family.
Before her father and brother got into trouble, the old lady of the Earl of Anping, as the mistress, often summoned her and personally taught her how to become a qualified wife of the Earl of Anping.
From playing the piano, chess, calligraphy and painting, to women's cooking, to managing household affairs and shops, she is proficient in everything and is required to achieve perfection in everything.
Even during these eight years of being treated coldly, she took care of her dowry more than once.
He kept trying to do business and now he has even accumulated a small fortune.
But Xun Moli of the Xun family obviously does not have this blessing, and she has to wait until she is old to inherit the property.
But after more than 20 years of strict self-discipline and hard work, when it came to Xun Chen's mouth, only one sentence would bring shame to the Anping Marquis's Mansion.
It made Jiang Qingning feel even colder.
"Xun Chen, you said yourself that those who achieve great things don't care about trivial matters and will never set their sights on me. Do you remember?"
Jiang Qingning's eyes wandered over Xun Chen's lifeless face which had remained the same for eight years. The friendship between childhood sweethearts would eventually be worn out.
Now that I have accumulated enough disappointment, I feel tired just looking at this person.
"When the Jiang family was reborn, it was indeed the Xun family that had the greatest merit.
I have managed the palace's internal affairs for eight years and gave birth to your legitimate son. Now our merits and demerits have been offset, the divorce agreement has been signed, and you must let me go."
Xun Chen frowned and looked at Jiang Qingning when he heard this. He seemed to have doubts in his heart, and he swallowed the words he was about to ask.
"Xun Chen, I don't owe you anything."
Jiang Qingning sneered, more like he was talking to himself.
Xun Chen frowned fiercely and blocked Jiang Qingning's way as she tried to walk around him and leave.
"Xun Jiang, are you going to go out and embarrass yourself?"
"Do you still think that the Anping Marquis' Mansion is not shameful enough because of you?"
"That's right. I'm going to go to the government and submit my divorce papers. I'm going to move my name and identity out of your Anping Marquis's Mansion. I'm no longer going to be Xun Jiang, but Jiang Qingning."
Jiang Qingning thought for a moment and explained patiently.
Otherwise, if this most chauvinistic man gave the order, she wouldn't even be able to leave the mansion, and she would be completely stranded. She couldn't just crawl through a dog hole in the middle of the night.
Otherwise, in the eyes of outsiders, it would be really ridiculous for the mistress of the Anping Marquis's Mansion to climb over the wall or crawl through a dog hole to leave the house.
Jiang Qingning walked around the man who stopped trying to stop him and went straight down the stairs.
"Jiang Qingning, you've got to think about it. Without my protection, you, a divorced woman who's over 20 and has given birth to a child, will never be able to hold your head up high in the capital."
"I want to see with my own eyes who in Shangjing City would want you under my nose!"
Xun Chen's cold voice rang out, piercing into Jiang Qingning's soft heart.
"No matter how miserable my life is, I won't bother Lord Anping with any worries."
Jiang Qingning told him directly that he, Jiang Qingning, could survive with or without Xun Chen, and could even live a more beautiful life.
The servant came over quickly and looked at the two people arguing. He couldn't help but look embarrassed and didn't know how to say the words that were on his lips.
"What's up?"
Xun Chen stared at Jiang Qingning's back and gave the servant a quick look.
The servant hurriedly saluted: "Master, the old lady fainted from anger!"
Xun Chen was shocked: "Mother fainted? What happened?"
The servant was startled, and his already bent back became even more bent. "The doctor said it was caused by anger attacking the heart. The old lady has woken up now and is clamoring to see you."
Jiang Qingning listened to the conversation between the two calmly. In fact, she had noticed the servant's look of seeking help early on.
But if she were the wife of the Marquis of Anping in the past, she would definitely ask what happened and then comfort the servants so that they would not be too nervous.
But now that the divorce agreement has been signed, she is no longer the wife of the Marquis of Anping. She will no longer be so kind and work like a slave for them and treat others with leniency.
Xun Chen frowned fiercely, walked to Jiang Qingning, grabbed her wrist, and was about to pull her to the old lady's yard.
"Mother has fainted. You usually take care of her food, clothing, shelter and transportation. You are going with me so that I can apologize to her."
Jiang Qingning: What kind of crazy talk is this person saying? Did she mishear it?
"What is Anping Bo talking about? Why do I need to go and apologize to the old lady? If I apologize, wouldn't that prove that I was the one who made the old lady faint?"
Jiang Qingning had a strange look on his face and looked at Xun Chen as if he were a fool.
"Besides, what does it have to do with me whether she's dizzy or not? What's our status? Why do I, Jiang Qingning, need to go and pay my respects to her?"
Xun Chen frowned, seemingly puzzled. "It was you who insisted on the divorce and caused Mother to become ill. You should apologize. Besides, as the mistress of the Anping Marquis's residence, it's your job to serve your mother-in-law."
Jiang Qingning suddenly pulled out his wrist, took out two divorce documents from his sleeve pocket, and shook them casually. His triumphant smile was mixed with a gentleness and playfulness that Xun Chen had never seen before.
"Could it be that Lord Anping has forgotten that you and I have already signed this divorce agreement? From now on, I will have no further dealings with the Lord Anping's family."
Not to mention that the old wicked woman was made sick by her, she even wanted her to serve by the bed, take care of her excrement and urine, and work hard without complaint.
Even if she was mad to death, don't expect Jiang Qingning to burn a stick of incense or dig up the grave of this old evil woman in the middle of the night. It would be considered that she was too concerned about the Buddha's concern and would not bless her blood relatives far away in Lingnan, so she was too soft-hearted.
"Xun Jiang, how come you've become so unreasonable now?"
Xun Chen looked at her with extremely unfamiliar eyes, and felt heartbroken.
Jiang Qingning didn't bother explaining to him and turned to the servant, "Let me ask you, did that old thief and the old lady mention names? Did they want to see your Earl of Anping?"
The servant nodded tremblingly: "To answer my husband, Miss Jiang, yes."
Jiang Qingning smiled, satisfied with his progress and asked, "Did the old lady say she wanted to see me?"
The servant quickly shook his head: "No, not yet."
The servant sighed in his heart, don't even mention wanting to see you.
I was so angry that I almost wanted to point at your nose and scold you, so how could I let you go and be looked down upon?
