Chapter 17 Recalling the Past (1/2)

Seeing the child's earnest expression, Shen Qingtang's heart softened even more, and she reached out to take his cold little hand: "Let's go."

"Go to hell! You little bastard, go to hell!" Lu Jiaojiao's vicious curse suddenly came from behind. She stood in the snow, her small face contorted, staring intently at Pei Nian'an's back.

The resentment in his eyes was almost overflowing.

No one knew that this child harbored a sinister secret—she could harm people with curses, and cats and dogs that had been cursed by her in the past would die mysteriously not long afterward.

She was clenching her fists at that moment.

He cursed Pei Nian'an to freeze to death outside, over and over in his heart.

Shen Qingtang paused, turned around and gave her a cold glance.

His gaze was like a knife, which frightened Jiao Jiao so much that she immediately shut her mouth, but still stubbornly glared back.

At this moment, Grandma Pei slowly walked over, took Pei Nian'an's other hand, and said with a face full of "love": "Nian'an, my good child, if you see any warm clothes over there, bring one back for your great-grandmother. Your great-grandmother's old bones can't stand the cold..."

Her voice trembled, and a few tears squeezed out from the corners of her eyes, making her look like a delicate white lotus flower.

"The old lady certainly knows how to order people around." Shen Qingtang pulled Pei Nian'an's hand away directly, her tone mocking. "He's just a child; it's good enough that he can take care of himself. If you're afraid of the cold, why don't you ask your precious granddaughter, Pei Yurou, to find something for you?"

Grandma Pei's smile froze, and she began wiping away tears again: "What are you saying? I'm just heartbroken for the child..."

"If you feel sorry for him, don't make him suffer." Shen Qingtang was too lazy to argue with her, and took Pei Nian'an's hand and walked forward. "Let's go."

Pei Nian'an glanced back at the old lady who was still pretending to cry, and silently followed Shen Qingtang's footsteps.

Her little hands, enveloped in Shen Qingtang's palms, gradually warmed up.

Shen Qingtang was accompanied by Pei Nian'an, with her elder brother Shen Minglan following closely behind.

The future eldest sister-in-law Qin Wanqing and the second sister-in-law Su Lingwei also followed.

Second sister-in-law Su Lingwei was already in poor health, and after walking a short distance, her face turned as white as paper.

Suddenly, he clutched his chest and coughed violently, spitting out a mouthful of blood that stained the snow in front of him red.

"Miss Su!" Shen Qingtang's heart tightened, and she rushed over to support her.

Su Lingwei's family members were nearby, and upon seeing this, instead of approaching, they began to discuss it amongst themselves:

"I think she's just faking it! She's trying to slack off!"

"She wouldn't look for a cart when I asked her to, and now she's doing this again. She's such a useless piece of trash!"

"Not only are they dragging us down, but they also want to take advantage of the Shen family!"

The harsh words pierced Shen Qingtang like needles, fueling her anger.

She looked up at them angrily: "She's coughing up blood, are you blind? She's your family, you don't care, and you're making sarcastic remarks, have you lost your conscience?"

His words left the Su family speechless, but they still pursed their lips in dissatisfaction.

Shen Qingtang ignored them and looked down to check on Su Lingwei's condition.

When I placed my fingertips on her pulse, I felt that it was erratic and weak, with a strange, sluggish quality—she had been poisoned!

Her eyes suddenly sharpened, and she looked up and scanned her surroundings. Who did this?

“…Thank you…” Su Lingwei said weakly, her voice barely audible.

Shen Qingtang was about to say something.

Out of the corner of my eye, I noticed a few perilla plants growing in the bushes not far away; these are a good medicine for relieving cold poisoning.
