Chapter 31 Reunion with an Old Friend: She's Following Me

Chapter 31 Reunion with an Old Friend: She's Following Me

Liang Jun was worried that they would disappear before her eyes.

She suddenly felt very scared.

Just as she was about to flip to the back row to check the situation, the two wisps of mist began to move.

The boundary between black and white gradually separated, but it still did not materialize into a human form.

"I can hear you, you don't need to shout so loudly..."

Zhu Bieming whispered in the corner, "Don't thank me, this is what we should do."

Zhu Shengqing, on the other side, also responded: "Long time no see, Liang Jun."

Liang Xun's anxious heart finally calmed down.

She got back into the driver's seat, fastened her seatbelt, and moved the car to the entrance of the pharmacy.

When parking, the entire vehicle shakes like a tractor.

Zhu Bieming complained with disdain, "When you get back, remember to get a different car, don't drive this one anymore."

"Why?" After checking that everything was fine, Liang Jun took the car key out. "That's how manual transmission cars are. Maybe it's because I haven't driven much."

"It has absolutely nothing to do with your driving skills."

Zhu Bieming shrank further into the corner, "The airbags in this car are broken."

Upon hearing his words, Liang Jun turned around stiffly, "What?"

Zhu Shengqing chimed in, "Don't be so sure, that's right."

It seemed that with her brother's support, the area covered by the white mist had expanded considerably.

"Otherwise, guess why we're here?"

Zhu Bieming seemed a little weak. He paused for a long time before continuing, "The airbags in this car won't deploy, and that sports car was going so fast, heading straight for the driver's seat. If there had been a collision, you would have certainly died."

Zhu Bieming breathed a sigh of relief, "So, you should probably get a different car."

Liang Xun nodded, indicating that she had listened to everything, but her attention remained focused on their state of mind—

Why are they all getting weaker and weaker?

"What happened to you? Are you alright now?" Liang Jun asked anxiously.

Zhu Bieming, who is usually very talkative, remained silent, and Zhu Shengqing became the representative.

“We’re fine,” he said, but his voice grew weak. “You don’t need to worry about us, just relax.”

rest assured?

Seeing the two wisps of mist looking half-dead, how could Liang Xun possibly feel at ease?

But no matter how much he asked, the Zhu brothers remained silent.

This dragging on won't get us anywhere. Liang Jun sighed softly, then opened the car door, preparing to go buy medicine first.

Out of the corner of her eye, she noticed two puffs of steam in the back seat, ready to pounce. Liang Jun warned, "You two wait in the car."

Zhu Bieming hesitated for a moment, then said, "I want to go with you."

Zhu Shengqing explained, "As your guardian spirits, we will always be by your side."

We're not in a game instance now, so there probably won't be any danger in the pharmacy.

Liang Jun opened her mouth, unable to refuse. This was a large, comprehensive pharmacy.

Liang Jun pushed open the door and walked in. The sensor at the door recognized someone entering and emitted a sharp "Welcome!"

The shelves were filled with a wide variety of medicines, and the small, square boxes were neatly stacked together.

This extreme sense of order gave Liang Jun a vague feeling that she was being constantly monitored.

Is the system's control permissions no longer limited to game instances?

A pile of medicine baskets was stacked high by the door. Liang Jun casually picked one from the top and began selecting medicines.

There are no staff in the pharmacy; players can take whatever they want and as much as they want entirely at their own discretion.

Liang Jun was probably the first player to arrive here.

She glanced around and found that there were no shortages of goods.

Based on her own needs, Liang Jun went straight to the shelf of commonly used medicines.

She took three or four boxes of cold medicine and fever reducers in a row, habitually checking their production dates.

"You're bleeding."

Zhu Bieming's voice came from behind her. Liang Xun turned around and realized that she had been enveloped in white mist without her noticing.

“Hmm,” she tossed the medicine she had just checked into the basket, “so I came to the pharmacy to buy bandages.”

Liang Jun stood there for a long time, not knowing how to get out.

"Are you going to keep protecting me like this?" She smiled helplessly. "How am I supposed to get out of here?"

“Just walk out.” His voice sounded light and airy. “You forgot, I’m just mist.”

As Liang Jun protected the medicine basket, she emerged from the white mist, as if walking through a spring rain curtain, a slight chill emanating from her body.

Black mist gathered above the counter.

Upon seeing Liang Jun come out, Zhu Shengqing said, "The gauze and disinfectant are here. Come and get them."

Liang Jun thanked her and then pushed open the door to walk behind the counter.

Before crouching down to search, she instructed them, "Help me find where the anti-inflammatory medicine is. I just looked around and couldn't find it."

After Zhu Bieming and Zhu Shengqing responded, the black and white mist suddenly drifted between the shelves.

These emergency medications were all stored securely; it's unclear how Zhu Shengqing found them.

Liang Xun squatted down and opened the bottom cabinet. She reached in and rummaged around for a while before finally grabbing the handle of a box.

That was a first aid kit.

Liang Jun opened it and found it full of emergency medicines.

In addition to basic supplies like gauze and iodine, there were many medicines she didn't recognize.

After Liang Jun closed the lid, she put the whole box into the medicine basket.

Inside the cabinet next door were rolls of gauze and brand-new iodine.

Thinking about the days ahead filled with either injury or disability, Liang Jun hardened her heart and looted all the gauze.

Just as she was about to continue searching, the doorbell rang abruptly once again.

"Welcome!"

Someone is coming.

Liang Jun instantly protected the medicine basket in her arms, then slowly shrank into the corner of the counter, trying her best not to be discovered by the visitors.

She didn't know whether the other person was good or bad. In a time when resources were readily available, she had to be even more wary of the unpredictability of people's hearts.

The person who arrived did not speak; their footsteps were light, occasionally lingering.

She was probably a petite girl, and it's very likely she was also injured.

Two streams of air rushed past—

That should be Zhu Shengqing and Zhu Bieming.

Just as Liang Jun was about to carry the medicine basket and move forward in small steps, the girl suddenly started screaming loudly.

"There's a ghost!"

Her movements froze in place.

That voice... it sounds familiar...

Liang Jun peeked half her head out from behind the counter, just in time to meet the terrified gaze of the newcomer.

Gu Keke didn't expect to run into an acquaintance here.

Her eyes were filled with a jumble of emotions, and without saying a word, she rushed toward the counter.

"Liang Yan!"

Her injuries were more severe than Liang Jun's. The clean white tiles were stained with blood from her legs as she walked along the path.

Gu Keke immediately grabbed Liang Xun and then pointed outside the counter in terror, "Liang Xun, let's go! There's a ghost here!"

ghost?

Liang Jun peeked out again and saw two wisps of black and white mist, pitifully floating in mid-air.

"You can see them?"

Liang Jun, on the other hand, was quite curious. She had always thought that only she could see the guardian spirit, but she didn't expect that outsiders could also see it directly.

"Them?" Gu Keke's eyes widened in astonishment, her face filled with disbelief. "You know them?!"

Liang Jun's lips twitched a few times, and she stood up, leaning on the counter for support.

"Which of you two should come out and explain?"

The white mist began to swirl in place. "I think it's better if you tell me yourself."

“She can’t hear us, so we can only communicate with you.” The black mist settled on the shelf. “The anti-inflammatory medicine is here; you can come and get it anytime.”

Liang Jun pouted, and Gu Keke, who was sitting on the ground, tugged at her clothes, "Don't tell me you're talking to a ghost... Are you alright, Liang Jun?"

The worry on Gu Keke's face didn't seem fake.

Liang Jun sighed, "Coco, that's not a ghost, that's my... guardian spirit."

Gu Keke's mouth was half open, as if she were listening to some fantasy story, absorbing everything Liang Xuan told her.

"So you mean, these two clouds of fog only appear when you're in grave danger?" Gu Keke tried to summarize. "And the reason they appeared here is because you almost got hit by a car?"

The words may be rough, but the principle is sound; that's just how it is.

Liang Xun nodded. "Congratulations, you've graduated."

Influenced by the rules-based world, Gu Keke's ability to accept abnormal events is becoming stronger and stronger.

She hesitated, unsure how to comment, and finally managed to squeeze out a few words.

"That's amazing..."

Liang Jun originally wanted to reach out and help her up, but she found that there was a small pool of blood where Gu Keke's legs were crossed.

"Why are you bleeding so much?"

Upon hearing this, Liang Jun immediately realized that Gu Keke's injuries in the dungeon were much more serious than her own.

She only got a scrape in the dungeon, but she was still injured like this after leaving the dungeon; Gu Keke almost had a chunk of flesh cut off in the game, I don't know how serious it would have been.

Before Gu Keke could react, Liang Xun had already lifted the other person's legs up.

Several shocking bloody holes were attached to Gu Keke's inner thighs, from which streams of dark red blood flowed continuously.

Liang Xun herself gasped, but Gu Keke waved her hand with a smile, "It's okay, it's okay, it doesn't actually hurt that much..."

Liang Jun took out gauze from her medicine basket and, without saying much, began to bandage Gu Keke's wound.

Her wound was so deep that the several layers of gauze that had just been applied were already stained red with blood.

It took her almost two rolls of gauze to finally bandage the other person.

“Zhu Bieming,” Liang Xun said, looking at the white mist that was idly spinning in place, “go see if there are any crutches and find a pair for Coco.”

The mist, whose name was called, let out an "oh" and then drifted to the back of the shelf.

In comparison, Liang Jun's injuries were much less severe.

She quickly bandaged her wound, then went to the place where the white mist was floating and got Gu Keke a pair of crutches.

After settling the other party in, Liang Jun did not forget to go to the location marked by Zhu Shengqing and collect some more anti-inflammatory medicine, putting it into her medicine basket.

As she turned around, she met Gu Keke's eyes, which were brimming with tears.

"I never thought I'd see you again after leaving the game..."

Gu Keke's lips trembled, and tears welled up in her eyes. "I thought I would never see you again..."

Liang Jun was about to step forward to coax her when she suddenly remembered something and took a step back.

"By the way, I haven't asked yet, how did you end up here?"

After exiting the instance, players will automatically return to their own safe zone.

Gu Keke's presence here likely indicates that her safe zone is nearby.

But there is another possibility—

She was tracking herself.
