Chapter 122 You're Not My Husband (33) "Ah Li, do you still remember..."

Chapter 122 You're Not My Husband (33) "Ah Li, do you still remember..."

The young man could hardly believe his ears. Inside the room, Luo Ze had already made arrangements and hurriedly hung up the phone. He glanced up and happened to see the door open a crack.

He frowned slightly, stepped forward, opened the door, but saw no one.

----

Sunlight streamed through the windowsill and onto the edge of the corridor.

Fu Li leaned against the corner of the hallway, panting heavily. Her heart pounded like a drum. Fear and anger filled her mind, and the man's cold command echoed in her ears.

He slowly lowered himself down, curled up against the wall, his fingers gripping his sleeves tightly, his nails almost digging into his flesh through the fabric.

Luo Ze wasn't joking; he really wanted to find someone to kill A Ran.

Even if he had just barged in, he would have been overwhelmed by Luo Ze.

That man is insane. He could destroy Ah Ran's hand, and now he wants to kill him.

What should he do... what should he do...?

Tears blurred my vision.

---

In the study, Luo Ze sat back down in his chair, rested his arm on the armrest, and remained silent for a while.

Making this decision was indeed very difficult.

Everyone now knows that the two Luo brothers have fallen out and are resorting to all sorts of underhanded tactics. If Luo Ran dies in an accident, even if the evidence is destroyed, everyone will know that he did it. This is detrimental to public opinion.

He hadn't completely destroyed Luo Ran before, so as not to deepen Fu Li's hatred for him. How could the living compare to the dead? Luo Ze understood this.

But now, he knows the truth, that Luo Ran was able to meet and fall in love with Fu Li entirely because of him, simply because he has the same face as him! So Fu Li loved him from the beginning! But because of Luo Ran's interference, the gap between them became so deep.

Loze's hatred for his brother had reached its peak.

Whether it's a power struggle or a love rivalry, Luo Ran cannot be allowed to live!

He was furious, yet also clear-headed, when he issued the order.

Fu Li was the bottom line. Anyone who knew they'd been usurped for so long would find it hard to suppress their anger. However, for an Alpha who viewed kinship even less, anger easily turned into murderous intent.

He had already decided that as long as he told Ali the truth, even if Luo Ran died, it would only be what he deserved.

The sunlight slanted slightly, slowly moving from one corner of the desk to the window frame.

After he composed himself, he discovered that Fu Li was nowhere to be found. In the corridor, the servants greeted him with smiles, as if something good was about to happen, until the butler hinted:

"Young Master, Mr. Fu Li has given everyone half a day off. He said he wants to spend time alone with you tonight."

Luo Ze was somewhat surprised. Fu Li rarely went to great lengths to prepare surprises for him, and a slight warmth appeared in his heart, which had been cold due to anger.

He thought this was for the best. When they were alone together that night, he could tell Ah Li the whole truth. He believed that Fu Li would be very happy to hear it, and all the misunderstandings and barriers between them would disappear.

As the sun sets, all the servants have left, leaving the space to the masters who will spend a wonderful evening together.

Luo Ze received a message from Fu Li, asking him to come to the reception room on the third floor. Pushing open the door, he found the room, originally used for entertaining guests, had been transformed into a small dining room. The sofa had been moved to a corner, and a small table and chairs, along with candles, were placed on one side. The lighting was dimmed, creating a more intimate and cozy atmosphere. Besides the aromatherapy, there was a slightly pungent smell in the air. However, Luo Ze's attention was quickly drawn to the young man sitting at the table, and he forgot about this detail.

"Ah Li." The tall and handsome Alpha walked towards the candlelight. Fu Li was dressed in a suit shirt with a vest, and his lower body was covered with well-proportioned and long suit trousers, which perfectly outlined his handsome and slender figure.

Her beautiful face was slightly tilted up as she looked at the man approaching, a smile always playing on her lips, like a graceful and passionate young nobleman in an oil painting.

Looking at his beautiful lover, Luo Ze's heart melted. He sat down opposite Fu Li and softly asked, "Why did you suddenly think of preparing all this?"

The young man maintained his smile, saying, "You've worked hard these past few days. I'd like you to relax for one night."

Hearing the concern from his lover, Luo Ze also showed a genuine smile.

"Ah Li, I love you."

"Thank you for doing all this for me."

Fu Li placed her hand on the back of his hand. "It's what I should do."

His smile was gentle, showing no sign of anything amiss.

He got up and poured a glass of the pre-decanted wine for Alpha, then poured one for himself, holding the glass with one hand, and toasted Loze.

In such a warm atmosphere, and with Beta's gentle smile, Luo Ze drank the wine that she had poured for him. The wine had just entered his throat, and he was pondering how to tell Fu Li the truth about how they met, when suddenly a strange dizziness spread through his mind.

As the Alpha watched in shock, Fu Li's face grew increasingly blurry. Even as he collapsed, the Beta maintained his unwavering smile.

When I woke up again, thick smoke filled the entire room, and the crackling sound of the fire echoed everywhere. The door was blocked by the sofa, but even if I could run out, the flickering flames and smoke in the hallway reminded me that there was no chance of escape.

The young man crouched in the corner. When he saw the man wake up, his dazed gaze regained focus, but his expression remained indifferent as he stared straight at him.

The fire must have just started and hadn't spread yet. Luo Ze finally smelled the pungent odor in the room as gasoline.

Is there anything else he doesn't understand?

He propped himself up and, with all his might, crawled to Fu Li's side. His right hand trembled as he reached forward and grabbed the young man's arm.

Gazing at his face, she asked dreamily, "Did you ever love me?"

Fu Li's eyes widened in surprise, as if she hadn't expected the other party to say such a thing at the last moment.

"It doesn't matter anymore."

He answered calmly.

Luo Ze suddenly burst into laughter, struggled to sit up, and hugged the person who had a calm expression but was actually ashen-faced.

“Ah Li, do you remember the first time you saw me on the plane? I had just returned from abroad, and you just stared at me for a long time. Before you left, you even came up to me and asked for my phone number. You were blushing and looked very embarrassed, but you still mustered up the courage to come over. I gave it to you, written on a piece of paper, do you remember?”

Upon hearing him accurately recount the events of that day, Fu Li was momentarily stunned, her numb expression finally changing. Her pupils dilated, then contracted sharply, her lips moved, shock mingled with disbelief.

"Ah Li, I'm the one you truly fell in love with at first sight. He's a thief, he's the real thief!"

Luo Ze held the person in his arms, his smile bitter.

Finally, Fu Li smiled, tears welling up in her eyes.

With a hint of relief in her eyes, she sobbed, "It doesn't matter anymore..."

They've come this far, so much has happened, even if it's true, it doesn't matter anymore.

The human heart is too small; once it holds one thing, it's hard to hold another.

Thick smoke billowed out from the cracks in the windows, and they were bound to die here.

All past events, grudges, and disputes have been settled.

There isn't much time left.

Luo Ze saw what Fu Li was thinking. He sighed sadly, took a deep look at his lover whom he had finally reunited with, his eyes filled with longing and reluctance. As if he had made up his mind, he used all his strength to carry Fu Li to the wall, pressed down a brick, and instantly a hidden passage opened up in front of them.

To Fu Li's astonishment, Alpha ultimately pushed him inside, but he was engulfed by the flames.

A month later, the police announced their investigation results: the fire at the Luo residence was caused by a gas leak and was unrelated to human error. Fu Li was not punished by law.

In a luxurious and beautiful villa in the city, Luo Ran held her lover, whom she had lost and found again, with great satisfaction, and happily kissed his lips.

Fu Li survived, and her injuries had long since healed, leaving no trace of her scars.

Luo Ran dressed him up beautifully again. He was now dressed in bright colors, though his face was still slightly pale. The doctor said it was psychological; Luo Ran had been with him constantly these past few days, fearing the fire might cause him irreparable trauma.

Fortunately, Fu Li remained calm throughout. She was calm when she was rescued from the fire, calm while staying in the hospital, and calm when Luo Ran took her home and lived with her as his lover.

He seemed to be constantly thinking about something, so calm and almost numb to everything around him that it was terrifying.

Luo Ran felt sorry for him and believed it was because of the fire. Anyone who saw a living person die in front of them would inevitably suffer psychological trauma.

He was pleased with the death of Loze.

His elder brother, the so-called twin brother, was cold-hearted and ruthless, resorting to any means to separate them. From the moment Ali was taken away, he no longer felt any brotherly affection for him. Hearing the news of his death, he only felt that he deserved it.

The Luo brothers' feud ended in such a way that everyone around was shocked. But Luo Ran didn't care about anything related to the Luo family; the only person he cared about was Fu Li, the lover he had finally managed to rescue.

He held Beta close, whispering in his ear as if they were still together: "Baby, talk to me. Remember the art exhibition we promised to put on just for you? It'll be ready in the next few days, do you want to go see it?"

"Don't think about that anymore, it's all in the past. Look at your husband, okay? Let's think about something happy."

"You've lost so much weight these days, it breaks my heart," the Alpha said in a coquettish tone, her voice full of concern.

Fu Li didn't look at him, letting him manipulate her like a beautiful doll. Her unfocused gaze drifted through the window to the moon in the sky.

Suddenly, he asked, "The person I met on the plane was your brother, wasn't he?"

The air seemed to freeze for a moment.

Luo Ran was suddenly stunned.

This was a secret he thought Fu Li would never know. His lips parted slightly, about to explain, but Fu Li interrupted him:

"Never mind, it's not important anymore."

The tone remained calm, silent, and numb.

Luo Ran's heart skipped a beat, as if something was about to slip away but he couldn't stop it. But he quickly cheered up again.

Luo Ze is dead; their nightmare is over. The person Fu Li truly loves is herself.

He was confident that he could help his lover out of the shadows and give her a bright future.

That night, Fu Li didn't ask any more questions. As usual, she exchanged a goodnight kiss with Luo Ran and fell asleep peacefully.

Luo Ran, however, was having trouble sleeping. Holding the person tightly in his arms, looking at the young man's peaceful and serene sleeping face, a corner of his heart felt empty, and he couldn't find peace of mind.

He could only comfort himself, "Ah Li won't blame me, everything will be alright."

He will explain things clearly and dispel Ali's suspicions and misunderstandings.

They will make up again.

Thinking of this, he gently kissed Fu Li's forehead. He hugged her even tighter, as if she were a treasure.
