Chapter 11

Chapter 11

"Don't just stand there stupidly!" Mao Jianming said nervously.

I held the shovel tightly, my heart pounding as I watched the wolves. The three of us stood back to back, wielding our shovels to prevent the wolves from attacking us.

At this time, I saw Zhang Song heading straight for the wolf king. The roar just now exposed its position. Zhang Song was quick-witted, but he was still entangled by two or three wolves.

"Let's go help Brother Song together," I said.

So, the three of us, wielding our shovels to repel the wolves, approached Zhang Song. As expected of a military man, Zhang Song could handle three wolves, while the three of us could only handle three.

At this time, a wolf suddenly pounced on Mao Jianming. We worked together to repel the wolf, but unexpectedly, the other two suddenly pounced on Li Bin.

Before we could react, Li Bin's arm was bitten by a wolf.

I swiftly and forcefully slapped the wolf's head. It whimpered and released its grip. Li Bin's arm had already been torn off by it, and blood was pouring down. Li Bin screamed, clutching his arm, beads of sweat oozing from his face.

The wolves smelled blood and became even more ferocious, constantly attacking Mao Jianming and me, and then, when we weren't paying attention, they attacked Li Bin. Their thinking was that Li Bin was injured and in a weak position, so they just had to focus their attacks on him.

"Protect yourselves." Zhang Song turned around and said after hearing Li Bin's scream.

"Be careful!" I yelled at him.

Just as he turned around, a wolf jumped towards him.

Zhang Song was prepared. The sharp shovel in his hand ripped a gash in the wolf's abdomen. The wolf instantly collapsed to the ground, its lifeless state evident.

Seeing Zhang Song's bravery, the other wolves retreated together, making low sobbing sounds.

The wolf at his feet lay on the ground, bleeding profusely and steaming. Although Zhang Song did not kill the wolf king, he still had a deterrent effect.

Wang Song saw that their encirclement had been broken, and slowly retreated to our side, saying, "Let's quickly take a detour."

When we retreated far away, the wolves surrounded the wolf killed by Zhang Song, as if they were holding a memorial ceremony for their companion.

We were away from the wolves. Li Bin was seriously injured and Zhang Song was bandaging him.

"Brother Song, you are so awesome!" Li Bin said admiringly, but every time the gauze passed around his wound, he would grit his teeth and scream.

"Indeed, if it weren't for Brother Song today, we might all have become the wolf's lunch." I said with lingering fear.

"I originally wanted to kill the wolf." Zhang Song said honestly.

"Anyway, Brother Song is awesome!"

"In your condition, I'm afraid you'll have to go down the mountain to the hospital. Although the bleeding has stopped temporarily, you still need to go to the hospital for treatment."

Li Bin didn't insist and said, "Then I'll leave the task to you three."

"What? Are you planning to go back by yourself?" Mao Jianming said with a smile.

"You and Brother Song continue to look for your teacher and others. I'll take Li Bin to the hospital," I said.

"That's embarrassing." Li Bin said.

"It's okay, we are comrades-in-arms, there is nothing to be embarrassed about," I said.

"I'll accompany you down the mountain so I can take care of you," said Mao Jianming.

"Jianming is right. Brother Song has experience in surviving in the wild. It would be best for the two of them to go and teach them. If Jianming and I had gone there and encountered the situation today, I'm afraid we would have become their meal by now," I said.

"Okay, I also know that it is impossible for me to continue walking with you in my current condition. I didn't expect so many accidents to happen this time." Li Bin said.

"It's okay. Once I find the teachers, I will contact you using the satellite phone," said Mao Jianming.

"OK, after we get down the mountain, we will go to meet up with Yuzi and the others. If you are still in the mountains, we will come back to find you along the trails you left." Li Bin said.

Just like that, Li Bin and I also started walking down the mountain. Before leaving, I specifically told Zhang Song and Mao Jianming to be careful along the way and to keep in touch.

As the saying goes, climbing a mountain is easy, but descending is difficult. The mountain road after the rain was not only steep but also extremely slippery. If you weren't careful, you could easily roll down. Li Bin and I carefully retraced our steps, snacking on compressed biscuits when we were hungry, without wasting any time.

At night, Li Bin suddenly developed a high fever.

It might be an infected wound, so I found him an amoxicillin and gave him an ibuprofen, and then he fell asleep.

But I can't sleep, I have to keep watch so that I can wake him up in time if anything dangerous happens.

The dead trees in the forest were all soaked by yesterday's rain, making it impossible to start a fire. I had no choice but to sit outside the tent, hugging my calves and curling up. The night was still very cold, and this was the only way I could maintain my body temperature.

Last night, Zhang Song and I were on guard duty, and tonight I had to do it again, so I felt a little sleepy. I rested my head on my knees, and despite my best efforts to resist the drowsiness, I drifted off to sleep.

Fortunately, nothing happened that night, and at dawn the next day, Li Bin and I packed up and continued our journey down the mountain. Perhaps the amoxicillin had taken effect, as Li Bin seemed much more energetic today.

He and I chatted as we walked down the mountain. But as we talked more, we ran out of topics to talk about, and in the end, I was in front and he was behind, and we walked in silence.

At this time, I saw a tent set up in front of me.

Isn’t this the one that Zhang Yu and Zheng Yunyun are wearing?

Logically, they should have left half a day earlier than Li Bin and I, so why were they still here? Puzzled, I approached the tent. Li Bin also saw the tent and followed me.

I stood in front of the tent and could clearly see a figure inside. I patted the tent, but before I could say anything, I heard Deng Yunyun scream from inside.

Li Bin and I looked at each other, not knowing what was going on.

I said to Zheng Yunyun: "Yunyun, it's me!"

Li Bin was also calling Zheng Yunyun outside, but she kept screaming, and finally started crying, and refused to open the tent.

I had to cut open the tent from the outside with a knife.

Zheng Yunyun was the only one inside. She covered her head and curled up in a corner of the tent, as if she was extremely frightened.

She was very resistant to me, and it took me a long time to bring her back to her senses. When she saw that it was me, she hugged me tightly, tears streaming down her face.

I let her hold me and patted her back to comfort her.

She is very emotional now. I haven't seen any trace of Zhang Yu, and I have a bad feeling in my heart.

Li Bin also noticed this, and he anxiously asked Zheng Yunyun where Zhang Yu was.

But after Zheng Yunyun heard Zhang Yu, her emotions, which had just calmed down, became agitated again. She kept saying, "Don't come over here, don't come over here."

Seeing her like this, Li Bin stopped asking questions. I kept comforting her, and finally she hugged me tightly and fell asleep.
