It was already ten o'clock when Zhou Pin changed the door lock and the front door. When he arrived at the bedroom on the second floor, he found that Xu Lin had already laid the floor and set up the beds in both rooms. Zhou Pin didn't say anything. After washing up, the two of them went to sleep in their respective rooms.
Zhou Pin didn't suggest that Xu Lin live with him because he knew that Xu Lin was a person who valued rituals, and he also had his own plans.
The next morning at seven o'clock, Xu Lin woke up. Zhou Pin had already prepared breakfast: millet porridge with salted duck eggs and two steamers of xiaolongbao (soup dumplings).
The outside temperature is around 52℃, and even wearing thermal underwear, it feels a bit hot. The two decided to start renovating the house with the air conditioning on and then work on the outside when the temperature drops in the evening.
The bedroom only had flooring. Xu Lin first put the bed away, then took out wallpaper, and the two of them chose wallpaper together. Since it was for their own room, they only took out good wallpaper. Xu Lin chose light pink to satisfy her girlish heart, while Zhou Pin chose gray, a very ascetic style.
The two of them finished putting up the wallpaper at four o'clock in the afternoon, had a quick lunch in between, and Zhou Pin volunteered to cook dinner in the evening.
“We’re eating less and less food in the space now that we have a house, so I cook extra food for each meal to put in the space,” Zhou Pin said.
"Okay, I'll go wash the fruit. Wash a lot and put some in the storage space so we can take them out and eat them directly later."
For dinner, we had cold noodles with a tomato and egg stir-fry sauce, along with shredded cucumber, carrot, potato, and green bean stir-fry. Xu Lin ate so much that she kept burping.
"I'll go out and install the electric grid myself in a bit. You can stay home, rest, watch some variety shows, and have some fruit."
"Are you trying to make me look like a pig? This is the apocalypse, I can't afford to be decadent."
Despite saying that, Xu Lin didn't go out to help after dinner. Instead, she stayed inside with her tablet, studying the renovation and drawing sketches.
At ten o'clock, Zhou Pin returned to the house after installing the electric fence in the yard. Xu Lin had already drawn up the renovation sketches.
"Take a look and see if there's anything that needs to be changed?" Xu Lin handed the drawing to Zhou Pin.
"The first floor is a cement floor. We'll put a secondhand sofa and coffee table there. The kitchen will be simple, with a gas stove. Should we put a refrigerator in there?" Zhou Pin carefully looked at the diagram and said to Xu Lin.
"It doesn't matter whether we put the refrigerator in or not, there's plenty of space anyway, and we probably won't be inviting anyone over for dinner."
"Okay, we'll go with your idea. We can add more later if needed. Just make sure the second floor is nicely decorated."
"That's what I think too, after all, the second floor is our territory."
"It's getting late, let's rest first."
The two went into the space to wash up.
"Zhou Pin, have you noticed that time in this space is a bit off?"
"When I entered the game the day before yesterday, there were 720 hours left. I didn't enter yesterday, and today there are still 720 hours left."
"That means the longest time in space is 720 hours."
Xu Lin couldn't describe her feelings. She had originally planned to accumulate more space time so she could use it to escape future catastrophic disasters, but it seemed she could only stay for a full 30 days. Oh, working wouldn't reduce the time, but she couldn't work forever.
"Being able to enter the space is already pretty good, what more could I ask for! There's no need to specifically save up time anymore." Xu Lin pondered for a while before coming to her senses.
People who have experienced the apocalypse generally have some psychological issues. Xu Lin has collected a lot of books on psychology and sometimes takes them out to read. Now she adheres to the principle of eating and drinking well and not taking things to heart. This may be the reason why carefree people tend to live longer.
