Chapter 2 Rescue, Household Registration

"Sister, my eldest cousin must have gone to get reinforcements."

"What should we do? When my aunt and uncle come, they'll beat us to death."

Lu Yao's soft voice, filled with worry and lingering fear, stirred Lu Qiqi's heart aches once more.

According to the original owner's memories, two years ago, her father, Lu Dashan, was captured and forced into military service, where he died on the battlefield.

The three women, mother and daughter, relied on each other for only half a year. Her mother, Chen, was washing clothes by the river when she lost her footing due to exhaustion and drowned.

When the body was brought back, it was swollen and obese.

His skin was whiter than the funeral banners hanging outside.

Due to extreme fright, both sisters developed high fevers that night.

He was saved only because the barefoot doctor in the next room gave him a bowl of medicine.

Therefore, Lu Qiqi's eyes softened a little more when she looked at Lu Yao.

Lu Qiqi patted Lu Yao on the back to comfort her, "Don't be afraid, I'm here for you. I will definitely protect you from now on."

Although it was a time-travel story, Lu Qiqi knew the importance of household registration. It was something that had been registered and recorded in the government office. Without household registration, one was equivalent to a vagrant, with no place to settle down.

"Little white rabbit".

"Huh?" Lu Yao looked up at Lu Qiqi in confusion. Where was the little white rabbit?

"Hey, Yao, do you know where our household registration is?"

"Of course I know. After Father died, Mother hid it in the wall under the bed."

Lu Yao was a little confused. Yesterday, her sister had told her that she must never tell anyone where her household registration was located, not even her grandparents.

Why did her sister forget? Could it be that she hit something hard? Lu Yao was a little worried that her sister might have gotten seriously injured.

"Sister, you just reminded me yesterday, why have you forgotten today?"

Lu Qiqi chuckled dryly and made up an excuse: "I might have bumped into something. There are some things I can't remember clearly. I'll have to ask you about them in the future. Don't worry, it's not a big problem."

Hearing this, Lu Yao relaxed her expression and smiled, revealing two symmetrical dimples on either side of her mouth, making her look incredibly cute.

"Okay, sister, just ask away. I have a very good memory."

"Wow, she's so cute!" Lu Qiqi reached out to pinch Lu Yao's little cheek.

Just as he reached out his hand, the door was kicked open violently.

With a loud bang, Lu Yao burrowed into Lu Qiqi's arms.

Who ruined her plans?

Lu Qiqi recognized the person as Lu Changping's reinforcement, Jin, the original owner's aunt.

Now Lu Qiqi finally understood why Lu Changping was so ugly; it turned out she inherited her mother's features: a donkey-like face, beady eyes, and a flat nose.

It's as if the mother and daughter share the same face.

"You little slut, how dare you lay a hand on your eldest cousin? I think you two have a death wish."

Jin's voice was unusually loud, and Lu Qiqi even suspected that this person had practiced the "Lion's Roar" technique.

"It was my eldest cousin who said we stole grain," Lu Yao argued softly in Lu Qiqi's arms.

"You have no right to speak here."

Jin roared, and Lu Yao turned into a quail again, too afraid to move.

"Lu Qiqi, if you don't kowtow to Aping and admit your mistake today, you can forget about having dinner."

"Kowtowing?" Lu Qiqi pulled Lu Yao behind her. "I, Lu Qiqi, kneel to heaven, kneel to earth, and kneel to my parents. Who do you mother and daughter think you are? You want me to kneel to her?"

"Is she dying? Why is she so eager for me to mourn?"

Lu Qiqi didn't yell or shout, but she still exuded an imposing aura.

Jin was stunned. When A-Ping cried and begged her for revenge, saying that Lu Qiqi actually dared to fight back, she didn't believe it at all.

After all, Lu Qiqi was so timid that she would tremble if she spoke even slightly, unlike her sister who occasionally dared to talk back.

How dare you do that?

Judging from this aura, he might be possessed by a ghost.

“You’re getting bolder and bolder these days, even daring to talk back to me.”

"Ah Ping, go and hold those two sluts down. I'm going to find out their household registration today and send them to someone else to be disciplined." Since these two troublemakers are so disobedient, we can sell them for some grain and keep some silver for ourselves. That way, we'll have an easier time on our journey to escape famine.

Lu Changping wanted to drag Lu Yao out, but she was afraid that Lu Qiqi would attack her again. She was still shaken by the fact that Lu Qiqi had kicked her down earlier.

Seeing that her daughter was not moving, Jin rolled up her sleeves. She had worked in the fields for many years and was strong enough to handle the two little girls.

She took a few steps forward and pinned Lu Qiqi down. After beating her up, she wanted to see if these two sluts would dare to cause trouble again.

"Ouch!" Jin's hand was twisted behind her back by Lu Qiqi.

"ah."

Lu Qiqi kicked Jin's knee, forcing Jin to kneel on one knee.

Jin kept cursing: "You slut, you're a jinx just like your mother. I'll release you right now, or you'll be sorry."

Seeing that even Jin was no match for Lu Qiqi, Lu Changping began to shout loudly, "Brother, come quick! Lu Qiqi is going to kill Mother!"

Hearing Lu Changping's cries for help, Lu Changhu rushed over and saw his mother being forced to kneel on the ground by Lu Qiqi.

Enraged, Lu Changhu grabbed some firewood from outside the door and was about to hit Lu Qiqi.

"If you dare to come forward, I'll smash her to death," Lu Qiqi said fiercely.

Lu Changhu then noticed that Lu Qiqi was holding a clay pot in her right hand. This clay pot weighed at least three pounds. If it smashed her head, would her mother still be alive?

Immediately, Lu Changhu gave Lu Changping a look, signaling her to go and call her father.

Before Lu Changping could even leave the house, her uncle stepped inside, and there were several villagers outside who had come to watch the performance after hearing the commotion.

"You little beast, hurry up and let go of your aunt!" Lu Dazhuang felt ashamed to see his wife, Jin, kneeling on the ground with onlookers watching.

Seeing that Lu Qiqi wouldn't let go, Lu Dazhuang rushed up and wanted to slap her to teach her a lesson about respecting elders and superiors.
