Chapter 106 Rebirth from the Ashes: He rushed towards new life, He kept his promise to death. ...
The voyage went incredibly smoothly. Not only did no gods cause trouble, but even the monsters kept quiet and didn't attack the ship sailing on the sea.
Easter twirled his white jade pipe, his face expressionless as he awaited the coming storm.
The trip went smoothly, and not only did East notice something was wrong, but the players were also quick to realize it.
"Your Majesty, could there be a trap ahead?" Matsushita Yuki took a deep breath. She had a very bad feeling. The aura around the king had also changed unpredictably. She couldn't tell if it was good or bad. In the end, it was different from the past.
"Baby, we don't have high-end combat power. Why don't we go over there and scout it out first?" Yunmu climbed out of the abyss after finding that no monsters would bother the ship. Baby's side is the most important thing. What if an accident happens?
"I'm afraid it won't work," said Ruo Bao Digua. It wasn't that Ruo Bao Digua was trying to discourage people, but the situation was really special. "That location isn't untouched by players. If there was any problem, they would have noticed it then. Besides, many more players have been there since, and even we've been there twice. We still haven't found anything."
The players were all dejected. As Roasted Sweet Potato said, it was true that if clues could be found there, there would be no need to wait for East to come in person.
"It's alright." Easter seemed calm. No matter the outcome, he was prepared. Life or death, it was all the same result.
Even if he were truly trapped, the existence of the system meant that this continent wasn't entirely devoid of life.
Finally, as we approached our destination, a lone reef stood in the middle of the sea.
The wind changed direction, clouds piled up, and a dark, oppressive atmosphere descended upon people.
The sea was turbulent, and the ship inevitably rocked and swayed.
Easter grabbed the railing to steady himself, but the players weren't so lucky; they rolled around on their backs on the deck.
East had no time to pay attention to the players; his gaze was fixed on the reef. The reef was nothing special, the most ordinary and commonplace thing. What was most suspicious was that it was here, surrounded by the boundless ocean, and it stood out from the crowd.
The two "people" landed silently on the deck.
Easter turned away calmly, not noticing their appearance, but their aura—a strange and alluring charm that drew him in, made him want to be close to them, to submit to them, to revere them. It was the desire of all beings, a sense of superiority, and an inviolability.
East frowned imperceptibly. He knew this feeling all too well. Wasn't it the seductive aura that would occasionally emanate from him? It made people blindly support him and even willing to die for him.
But something is not right. If every deity has the same temperament, how can they be divided into different functions?
Secondly, one will notice their appearance. They are androgynous and difficult to distinguish between male and female. However, you cannot say that they look masculine or feminine. Their beauty transcends gender and is beyond description in human language. However, their outstanding appearance makes them seem unreal.
The wind stopped, the sea calmed down, and the clouds in the sky pressed down lower and lower.
The strange atmosphere made the players hesitant to make any rash moves, and they all watched the two "people" with wary expressions.
"Don't be nervous. You can call me 'Lies.' If you know your ancestors, you'll know we have a close relationship." The voice that came out was a teasing and flippant male voice. He had light pink hair and warm white eyes, which were exactly the opposite of Felix's inherited hair and eye color.
East felt nauseous and wanted to vomit, an uncontrollable physiological reaction.
"Hehe, [liar], don't flatter yourself, little one, the taste of love on your skin is truly wonderful." A gentle and seductive female voice, warmly enticing one to fall deeper into its clutches.
"May I ask the purpose of your visit?" East asked with a faint smile and a calm demeanor.
[The Lie] He raised an eyebrow and asked with great interest, "Aren't you afraid?"
“There’s no need,” Ister replied. Gods can no longer descend in person. They can only use a human body to descend, or they can only project a part of their consciousness. The former’s power is limited by the human body. Using too much power will cause the body to explode and die. As for the latter, they have basically no combat power unless they are willing to give up this part of their consciousness.
"Where's Arepo?" [Love] asked. "We've all appeared, why is he still hiding?"
East tightened his grip on the white jade pipe in his hand. "Shouldn't you be asking yourselves how he is?"
“Sigh~” [Lies] look at Ister with such an ignorant look. “If he were really that easy to kill, [Sky] would be laughing its head off.”
“You have no murderous intent,” said [Love], “not even resentment, you are peaceful.”
"Your performance was so vivid and lifelike, the emotions were so genuine that it was hard to tell if they were real or not. For a moment, we really thought he was dead, what a pity..." [Lies] said with a smile, "I am [Lies] myself, how could I be fooled by you?"
I don't know when it started, but fog rolled in, shrouding the vast sea and reflecting the heavy dark clouds in the sky, making the sky so dark that not a ray of light could be seen.
East rested his arm on the ship's railing, raised his pipe and took a light puff. A thin, ethereal mist wafted out, a mist that, though similar to the mist rising from the sea, was difficult to dissolve, gently and softly enveloping "the man."
Ister didn't look at the two opposite him. He looked up at the sky. How could an old monster who had lived for countless years be so stupid?
The wind rose and the clouds surged, dispersing the thin mist, lifting the boats, and rays of light pierced through the dark clouds.
Everyone, including the gods, knew this was a trap. Humans thought they were luring people into a trap, while the gods thought they were using a counter-strategy. In the end, it all came down to who had the better strategy.
There was nothing earth-shattering, nor was the scene grand or magnificent; everything happened silently, as if time had stood still and things had frozen in time.
East looked keenly at the towering reef, where sparks flew and drifted into the sky, forming a continuous line that blocked the sunlight from piercing through the dark clouds.
"Whoosh~" It sounded like the cold wind sweeping across the snow, empty, vast, and desolate.
Snowflakes fell heavily from the sky, freezing the sea surface. The ripples suddenly froze in mid-air, and even the fish and shrimp inside could not escape.
"It's useless," [Lies] said, dispelling the mist from his body and gazing at the starlight and ice in the sky. "It's only a thousand years, but for us it's just a moment."
Easter put his index finger to his lips in a shushing gesture, and the pipe in his other hand fell onto the ice. It didn't break; instead, it blended into the ice.
East glanced at [Lies] indifferently, lowered his hand, and said, "If gods were so easy to die, it wouldn't be our turn."
"What do you mean?" [Lies]'s gaze narrowed slightly. Theoretically speaking, they are immortal and indestructible. Unless humanity's faith in them is severed, they will slowly perish as their power weakens; or they themselves will decide not to live and return to the rules.
“It’s very simple,” East said. “We never intended to kill you here.”
East was speechless. They weren't stupid. Gods either descend in divine form or project their images. They couldn't descend in their true form and couldn't even touch their bodies. How stupid could they be to think they could kill them so easily?
In truth, Easter couldn't say for sure what Arip and the others were plotting. Arip had genuinely concealed the signs of life, so at this point it seemed that Arip was indeed alive. But when news of his death came, he truly believed that something had happened to him. No one had told him about the plan or the consequences; he acted entirely on intuition and guesswork.
"What a pity..." [Lies] sighed regretfully, "The mark of [Miracle] on you is too weak, but it's better than nothing. With some patching and repair, we should be able to catch a little bit."
East sighed. From the perspective of a god, he too would be obsessed with the power of miracles. Everyone pins their hopes on it, and even if the odds are slim, people still flock to it.
East looked up at the sky again. A clear mist surrounded him, blocking the power released by the [Lies]. The stalemate between him and the two divine projections was the least important thing. What really mattered was the battle in the sky.
"Don't waste your energy if you can't win." His power is no match for the gods. Just as [Lies] said, he has too little power of [Miracle], but compared to the projections of the gods, he is not at a disadvantage.
[Lies] are most adept at bewitching people, silently guiding them to act according to their wishes. Unfortunately, Ister is protected by the power of [Miracle], and no divine power can affect him. Seeing that there was no other way, the two divine consciousness projections settled down and quietly waited for the outcome of the dispute.
Black flames ignited on the ice. "How could I miss out on this excitement?" he said arrogantly, looking down on everyone.
Easter breathed a slight sigh of relief. The devil was here, and seeing how confident he was, he probably wouldn't let him embarrass himself.
Asan walked across the burning flames, seemingly slowly, but in fact, he was on the deck in an instant.
When Asan saw Ister clearly, he was visibly taken aback, his eyes filled with regret and melancholy. "Your Excellency."
East nodded in response. He understood why the devil would react this way. Faced with reality and with false hope, each had its own choice.
Asan stopped looking at Ister and looked up at the sky as well. Huge black wings spread out from his back. "Your Excellency, please be careful." With that, he flapped his wings and rushed into the sky. Black and red flames followed and soon merged with the sparks in the sky.
"Impossible, how could there still be any chosen ones left in this world?" [Lies] looked at Ister with eyes that seemed to devour anyone they wanted to kill.
Easter shook his head. "Who knows?"
Intricate and eerie patterns cover the entire sky. The sun rises and sets, the Milky Way fills the sky, and the sky changes rapidly. Finally, the three scenes are framed together, with the vast starry sky and the sun and moon hanging together.
East only glanced at it before lowering her eyes; if she looked any longer, she would be tempted to immerse herself in the magic circle.
“I see,” [Lies] said calmly, “but going to this point, neither Areber nor that chosen one will survive; they will perish together. Is it worth it?”
East couldn't help but look up at the sky. Sparks were falling, and within the flames were drops of blood, boiling, burning, and evaporating.
A drop of residual blood fell onto the corner of East's eye, coinciding perfectly with the beauty mark under his eye, and slid down his cheek.
East reached out and wiped it, staring blankly at the bright red in his hand.
"[Lies] will eventually die from lies. I fabricated a lie to deceive a sincere heart, but in the end, it was nothing but an illusion." The projection of [Lies]'s consciousness dissipated.
"[Love] never believes in love; this world has long been incapable of nurturing love." The projection of [Love]'s consciousness then dissipated.
East had no time to pay attention to the changes in the two divine consciousness projections. He stared at the sky without blinking for a moment. The starlight continued to fall, but there was no longer a trace of blood encased in the flames.
"Ha." Is faking death not enough? Does he have to die clearly and openly in front of him to count?
As Easter's pupils darkened, a single flame suddenly appeared, igniting the wisps of white mist that were rising from the ground, and Easter was engulfed in flames.
The more scorching the flames around him, the more desolate his heart became.
"Screech~" The sound was high-pitched and resonant, with great penetrating power.
The fiery cocoon burst open, and a gigantic bird-like creature with a long, fiery tail flew out. It flew towards the falling meteors, and the scattered flames merged into its body, making it even larger and more overwhelming.
Its body, constructed of flames, shimmered with iridescent light, dazzling like the blazing sun, too bright to look directly at. It rushed towards new life, it went to its covenant with death.
