Chapter 105 Setting Sail: We'll have a smooth journey.
When East arrived at the port, the ship was already ready; it was a large ship used for navigation.
Watching the few little firemen that had boarded the ship, East held the crystal ball and lowered his eyes in deep thought.
"Little one, don't be afraid, we'll find it." Yunmu leaned against the ship's railing, looking up at East.
The ship set sail, and one can't help but marvel at how diverse the players' abilities are. There was only one human on board, East; the rest were players.
Easter tied up her wind-blown hair with a hairband, smiled at the little fire figures in front of her, and said, "Hmm."
"Let's put that aside for now and see how far it is," said Matsushita Yuki.
East released the crystal ball from his hand, and the crystal ball floated up, slowly unfolding a route map. The destination was a sun, and their location was a little red bird.
Several players looked at the route map and involuntarily glanced at Ist.
East made a soft "ha" sound in his throat. Did he seem unprepared?
Regardless of the reason for forcing him out of "Felix" territory, the fact that such methods were used proves that Areper's chances of survival are not entirely nonexistent, which is good news.
The map was delivered to the captain's cabin, where the player at the helm and his first mate examined it carefully. The captain then told East, "The wind direction is favorable recently; we should reach this location in two days at most."
"You've worked hard. I'll bring you some good food later." Eastmo stroked the necklace he had taken off his neck and shoulder, the silver chain wrapped around his wrist, and the sapphire in his hand, trying to relieve the restlessness in his heart through these small actions.
“It’s alright,” the captain laughed heartily. “It’s going to be a very interesting mission. We’ll have a smooth journey, I have a feeling.”
“Your Majesty, you don’t need to stay here,” the lieutenant said. “We will inform you if there are any problems.”
Not wanting to make his little player uncomfortable, Easter turned and left the captain's cabin.
The number of players on the ship has decreased, and those with high combat strength have entered the sea, determined to clear the way ahead and ensure the king's safe journey.
East walked onto the deck, leaned against the railing, and looked up at the sky. The wind was strong today, blowing away the dark clouds that had gathered in the sky. Although the sun was shining, the light that fell was cool.
The sharp edges of the sapphire dug into my palm; I wished it could be embedded in my very bones.
East half-closed his eyes, quietly sensing the subtle connection. He knew what coming out meant: the road ahead was fraught with difficulties and dangers, and he might face annihilation.
The sounds of the wind, waves, and birdsong faded away, leaving behind a tranquil silence, as if from a dream.
He had never wanted to force things before; he only hoped that day would come later. He didn't want to become too unrecognizable. Besides, "Source" could fight demons while wandering outside, and if it merged into his body, it would only be used to fill his body and soul.
The fact that "Source" didn't come knocking all at once wasn't because his appeal wasn't strong enough; it was more likely arranged by [Miracle]. Because whether it's strengthening the body or the soul, it's all about gradual progress. Trying to fill too much gaps at once would most likely only result in the body exploding and dying.
But now that things have come to this point, no matter how unwilling he is, he can't risk his life. What if... what if that information comes true? He won't be unable to take revenge.
Fog rose over the sea, initially appearing as a faint white veil, gradually deepening and thickening until it was as dense as a viscous liquid, leaving only a vast expanse of white all around. Strangely enough, this fog did not affect the navigation of ships at all. The ships moved through the white fog as if traveling through the sky, rather than on the sea.
East was oblivious to the changes in the outside world; his entire being was consumed by pain, far more intense than the outburst he had experienced in Cyrus. That time, it seemed only bones were being crushed, but this time it was different. Every single strand of flesh and bone was being torn apart, even his soul. The pain in his body was bearable to some extent, but the combined pain in his body and soul was not a simple addition; it was many times greater, enough to drive a person insane or even to death.
When the pain reaches its extreme, one cannot react. Easter lay sprawled on the deck like a mangled mess of flesh. Mist surged wildly into his body, merging into his flesh, bones, and soul, filling the cracks that should not have appeared in his body. Only then did a broken, shattered "person" truly take shape.
"Alas~ Such is fate..." A voice that was neither male nor female, indescribable in human language, awakened Esther's consciousness.
East's eyelids trembled, and his gaze slowly focused as he watched a hazy, indistinct figure embrace him, as if giving him a hug, or perhaps it was just his imagination. The fog was too thick, and the figure was mixed in with it, making it difficult to distinguish.
The pain had lasted so long that the sudden comfort was extremely disorienting, and it took a while for people to process it.
The surging fog slowed down, and the surrounding white fog was not as thick as before. After an unknown amount of time, the white fog completely dissipated.
The clear, bright sky reflected in East's eyes. He blinked with difficulty, slowly moving his fingertips, trying to regain control of his body.
He thought he probably had to kowtow to a miracle; if no miracle happened, he might have ruined himself. No, if the assumption of a miracle didn't hold true, he wouldn't have been born, let alone be where he is now.
Easter was amused by his own thoughts, and only then did he truly come back to his senses. Dragging his still limp body, he knelt on the deck and knelt down three times facing the sea.
[Miracle] is [Miracle], and he is him. He has always been very clear about this distinction. After undergoing transformation after transformation, as he has learned more and more, and more and more deeply, to use a shameless analogy, he can barely be considered a descendant of [Miracle]. This is not because he is really shameless enough to compare himself to this, but because [Miracle] itself conveys this meaning.
East sat leaning against the railing, his long legs stretched out from where he had been curled up. He should be grateful for the care and attention shown to him by the [Miracle], otherwise he would have been doomed.
East twirled his fingers. Unfortunately, good gods don't live long. Even if the world was reluctant, it had to let go. The fragmented remnants of his consciousness and his existence were merely a result of the world's affection for him, so it turned a blind eye.
A slender white jade pipe took shape in his hand. He held the mouthpiece in his mouth, and a wisp of white smoke escaped from his lips, blurring his features and making him appear ethereal and distant.
If you owe something, you should pay it back; that's a matter of course.
[Host, are you alright?] Seeing that Easter's condition had stabilized, the system popped out of the system space. A lop-eared rabbit sat down next to Easter, its sapphire-like eyes filled with worry.
East reached out and ruffled the System Rabbit's head. "Not bad." He had just fused two "Sources" at once, and the benefits he received were extraordinary. In any case, it was the power of a god.
"System, do you think it can come back to life?" East put down his pipe, picked up the necklace that had rolled onto the deck, hung it back around his neck, and then hugged the system rabbit to his chest.
"Does the host mean [Miracle]?" the system asked.
East is the default.
"Host, He has returned to the laws," the system said. "Even assuming the [miracle] reverts to a god, it is no longer Him."
East remained silent, rubbing the System Rabbit's ears. This was something he already knew, but he still couldn't help asking.
"System, I want to smoke. The one I had just smoked didn't have any smoky flavor."
[Host?] The system was baffled.
"Annoying." If it were anyone else who knew that Ister possessed divine power, their first reaction would be to get themselves a pipe and complain that it lacked a human touch; they would probably want to beat him to death.
System, should I issue quests to the players?
"Never mind," Easter refused, but it hadn't come to that yet.
After the pain subsided, most of the negative emotions that had been building up inside dissipated, which should be considered a good thing.
“System, I know this is a setup, but I still couldn’t resist walking into the trap,” East put out his white jade pipe again, lowered his eyes and took a puff. There was no tobacco, but wisps of white smoke escaped from his lips. “Am I stupid?”
The cool mist slid into the lungs, stimulating the mind.
East felt a little wronged. Why were they pushing him like this? He knew that in the end, they would always find a reason to persuade him, and there would always be a greater cause pressing him down.
[Host, think about it. If Areber hadn't died, you could have brought him home this time. Would that make you happier?]
East leaned directly onto the white jade pipe, the weariness and boredom on his face dissipating slightly. "System, you're getting better and better at understanding my thoughts." He unconsciously ground his teeth, his gums itching, wanting to bite someone.
"Little one...would you like something to eat?" Cai Cai had come specifically to deliver food. He prepared it in the palace kitchen, put it in his backpack, and then teleported over according to the coordinates. He delivered it to the players first before coming up to the deck to find the king, wanting to keep him company and chat with him. He never expected to see this scene with such mixed feelings.
East patted the seat next to him. "Sit here if you don't mind."
Cai Cai jogged over to East's side, first giving the pipe a disapproving look, then taking out a food box from her backpack. "Have something to eat, it's lunchtime."
Easter twirled the white jade pipe in his hand and casually handed it to Cai Cai, saying, "Don't worry, it won't hurt your body."
Cai Cai took out the meat pie from the food box and curiously took the pipe. It was warm and smooth to the touch, made of fine white jade, with wisps of blue flowers floating on it, creating a very artistic atmosphere, without any hint of smokiness.
East munched on a meat pie and mumbled, "Smoking for half a day only leads to loneliness."
Cai Cai was speechless. Had her little one gone mad? Something was off. "Aren't you worried?"
With a meat pie in his stomach, Easter felt a sense of grounded comfort. Holding a bowl of soup in his hands, he slowly blew on it to warm it up. "The initial excitement has passed," he said casually. "The results will be out soon. There's no point in rushing at this point."
Cai Cai gently smoothed Ister's hair, tidying up the messy strands, and whispered, "Baby, don't be sad."
Easter buried his head in his soup, suppressing the emotions welling up inside him. "I'm not sad."
Cai Cai said no more, and handed the meat pie to him again, gesturing for him to eat more.
Easter ate it with a smile; he was in too much pain earlier and needed to replenish his energy.
The ship sailed toward its destination, the wind blowing the banners fluttering, and the undulating seawater raising bursts of white spray. How insignificant a person is in such a situation.
