Chapter 108 More money?

"Yes, I plan to buy five acres of land to build a factory, and another ten acres of wasteland to grow cacti," Jiang Hua said slowly. Isn't it normal for her to buy land? Why is she so excited?

"Miss Jiang, can you manage to cultivate so much land?" Village Chief Lu asked tentatively, recalling what Jiang Hua had said before about hiring a group of farmhands. He wondered if they could hire villagers from Shili Village.

"We'll need to hire people and take care of things then," Jiang Hua said calmly.

Upon hearing this, Village Chief Lu felt hopeful and happily accepted the silver given to him by Jiang Hua. He then drove his oxcart to the government office to complete the formalities for Jiang Hua.

After returning from the village chief's house, Jiang Xingzhou and his son had already come out of the study and were looking at the cacti in the second courtyard.

"Stepmother, which courtyard do you live in?" Jiang Jingyi asked, as he wanted to live in the same courtyard as his stepmother.

"You should move to the third courtyard. There's a study there where you can read," Jiang Hua suggested after thinking for a moment.

I've already taken the study in the fourth courtyard, so that leaves the one in the third courtyard.

"Okay." Although he was a little reluctant, Jiang Jingyi still agreed.

After staying at home for three days, Jiang Hua and Jiang Xingzhou sent Jiang Jingyi back to the academy.

Apart from Wenyu, the rest of the family members also returned to town to open shops.

"Where are you going?" Jiang Xingzhou asked after seeing the reluctant Jiang Jingyi into the academy.

"Go to the slave market and buy an old woman and a few maids to serve you."

When the two arrived at the market, Chunniang immediately recognized Jiang Hua.

"Miss Jiang, what a distinguished guest! What kind of people are you looking to buy this time?" Chunniang walked over, swaying her hips and waving the handkerchief in her hand.

"Oh, Miss Jiang. This must be your husband. The two of you look like a match made in heaven."

"Thank you for your kind words."

“This time, just like last time, there are five maids and one old woman,” Jiang Hua said.

"Yes, yes, please come with me." Chunniang led Jiang Hua and the other woman to the same courtyard as before.

“Miss Jiang, this old woman just arrived last month. Do you think she suits your taste?” Chunniang asked, pointing to an old woman in a cage.

Although the old woman's clothes were covered in stains, it was still clear that the fabric was of high quality.

"Let her come out and take a look," Jiang Hua said.

Chunniang gave a wink to the man following behind her, and the man immediately stepped forward and released the old woman from the cage.

Just then, someone brought over ten maids.

"Go and pick a few capable and efficient workers," Jiang Hua said, looking at the still bewildered old woman.

"Hurry up and go!" Chunniang kicked the old woman when she saw that she was still unmoved.

"Be smart, or I'll take you to a brothel. There are plenty of men who like your still-attractive charm."

Upon hearing this, the old woman turned pale and quickly got up from the ground. After carefully examining the ten maids, she pointed out only five of them.

“Then these five will do,” Jiang Hua said to Chun Niang.

"Alright!" Chunniang was overjoyed.

“Miss Jiang, it’s probably too late to go to the yamen to file the report today. Why don’t you tell me where you live, and I’ll have someone send them and their indentures to you tomorrow?”

"Okay, thank you very much, Chunniang." Jiang Hua paid Chunniang the silver.

...

"I have to go to Mingyue Tower. Shen Qingchuan is back," Jiang Xingzhou said after leaving the market.

"Okay, you go first, I'll go to Mingde Hall."

As soon as Jiang Hua arrived at Mingde Hall, Manager Shen invited her into a tea room in the back hall.

"Dr. Jiang, please take a look at me quickly."

As soon as Manager Shen closed the door and left, Meng Xin couldn't wait to speak.

"What's wrong, Miss Meng?" Jiang Hua asked, raising an eyebrow.

"My area is like it was before again," Meng Xin said, blushing.

"The medicine you gave me before is no longer effective. Will it affect the baby in my belly?"

As he spoke, his tone became increasingly anxious.

"Miss Jiang, aren't you going to take my pulse?" Meng Xin asked unhappily, looking at Jiang Hua who hadn't moved an inch.

"Does he know you're pregnant?" Jiang Hua picked up the tea on the table, took a sip, and asked.

Meng Xin was taken aback, but still replied, "I haven't figured out how to tell him yet."

"If you don't tell us soon, your belly will start to show," Jiang Hua kindly reminded her.

"Miss Jiang, I dare not. Why don't you come with me to talk to him?" Meng Xin pleaded.

She originally wanted her mother to accompany her to find Liu Yan, but her mother refused and even threatened to sever ties with her, leaving her with no other choice.

"Oh dear, this isn't right." Jiang Hua took out a small porcelain bottle from her medicine box. Seeing her fidgeting, and thinking of Madam Meng, she finally couldn't bear it.

"Go behind the screen and apply this medicine; it will make you feel better than you do now."

"Thank you, Miss Jiang." Meng Xin quickly accepted the gift and got up to go behind the screen in the tea room.

“Miss Meng, your pregnancy is unstable, so it’s not advisable to have intercourse,” Jiang Huaming said after she came out.

Meng Xin blushed and said, "I understand, Dr. Jiang. I won't do it again next time."

“Have you ever thought that the reason you got this disease is because of Liu Yan?” Jiang Hua said, looking at the expression on Meng Xin’s face.

"No, Dr. Jiang, it must be because my body is weak," Meng Xin retorted without hesitation.

"Otherwise, how come he's fine, but I'm the one who's in trouble?"

“Miss Meng, Liu Yan is a regular customer of Mingdetang, didn’t you know?” Jiang Hua asked in return.

"Dr. Jiang, Brother Liu Yan came to the pharmacy to get medicine for his mother," Meng Xin explained.

Jiang Hua smiled, no longer dwelling on the question: "Miss Meng, when would you like me to go with you?"

"Is it okay now? I want to go find Brother Liu Yan right now and tell him this good news." Meng Xin was already quite impatient.

“Alright, Miss Meng, please lead the way.” Jiang Hua stood up, told Manager Shen that she was going out.

After leaving Mingde Hall, I circled around to South Street, passed through several alleys, and finally stopped in front of an adobe house.

Jiang Hua glanced around and saw that this was the only one in the row of shops that was still an adobe house; the others had all been rebuilt into brick houses.

"Brother Liu Yan." Meng Xin stepped forward and knocked on the door.

Actually, it's no longer called a door; it's just a long wooden plank placed on top of it.

"Xin Xin, what brings you here?" Liu Yan moved the door open and looked at Meng Xin with a surprised expression.

"Do you have any money on you? Quickly lend me some money, I need to get medicine for my mother, she's run out of medicine." Without saying a word, Liu Yan reached out and asked Meng Xin for money.

"Do you want more money?" Meng Xin's expression changed slightly. "Didn't I already give you twenty taels of silver yesterday? Why do you want more now?"

“Xinxin, the doctor at Mingdetang said that my mother’s illness requires ginseng as medicine, but twenty taels of silver isn’t enough to buy ginseng slices.” A hint of impatience flashed in Liu Yan’s eyes before he explained.

"But didn't you say before that the doctor from Mingdetang said your mother is too weak to take tonics and can't eat ginseng?" Meng Xin asked, puzzled.
