Chapter 110 Proposing Marriage 2

This would also be a good opportunity for Doctor Jiang to see how much Brother Liu Yan felt for her, and then go back and say a few good words for him to her mother.

Just as Meng Xin was getting impatient, Liu Yan walked past her.

Just as Meng Xin was about to call out to him, Jiang Hua covered her mouth: "Don't rush, let's go and see first."

Meng Xin had no choice but to follow Jiang Hua's steps and quietly follow behind Liu Yan.

The two followed him until they unknowingly arrived at a gambling den. They saw Liu Yan standing in front of the gambling den, looking around before swaggering inside.

"Dr. Jiang, Brother Liu Yan, he..." Meeting Jiang Hua's ambiguous smile, Meng Xin looked away guiltily.

“Go back, this isn’t a place you can go,” Jiang Hua said to Meng Xin.

On the way back, Meng Xin was in a daze, her heart pounding. If she hadn't seen it with her own eyes, she would never have imagined that Brother Liu Yan would go to such a place!

"Dr. Jiang is here?" Madam Meng said, looking at the two returning. Then she noticed her daughter's strange expression: "Xinxin, what's wrong?"

"Mother, I'm tired. I'm going back to the courtyard to rest." Meng Xin said with a hint of disappointment.

As soon as Meng Xin left, Madam Meng couldn't wait to go up and ask Jiang Hua what had happened.

Jiang Hua then recounted what had just happened to Madam Meng, saying, "Madam Meng, be prepared to deal with Liu Yan's visit tomorrow."

"Alright." Madam Meng nodded with a somewhat solemn expression. Was it really going to come to that?

"Dr. Jiang, are you coming tomorrow? Or could you stay at the manor tonight?"

"No need, thank you for your kindness, Madam Meng," Jiang Hua politely declined. "My husband and I will be staying at Mingyue Tower tonight."

When Jiang Hua arrived at Mingyue Tower, Shen Qingchuan and Jiang Xingzhou were already chatting.

"Huahua, have you finished dealing with things?" Jiang Xingzhou immediately stood up and asked.

"Not yet. I have to go out early tomorrow morning, and I'll probably be staying at Mingyue Tower tonight," Jiang Hua replied as she sat down.

"Now that Miss Jiang is back, let's calculate the profit sharing for the dishes we collaborated on at Mingyue Restaurant last month."

As he spoke, Shen Qingchuan had Manager Bai bring over the account book and place it in front of Jiang Hua.

"Miss Jiang, the total is thirteen thousand five hundred and eighty taels of silver," Shen Qingchuan said, waving his folding fan.

In just one month, he managed to earn so much; Shen Qingchuan's Mingyue Tower must have made a considerable profit in that month.

“If Miss Jiang doesn’t believe me, every single entry in the ledger is recorded clearly. You can take a look,” Shen Qingchuan added.

“No need, I trust Master Shen,” Jiang Hua replied.

"Then I thank Miss Jiang for her trust in me."

"Are you hungry?" Jiang Xingzhou glanced at the sky outside; it was already dark. He turned to Jiang Hua and asked.

"Okay," Jiang Hua replied softly.

Shen Qingchuan, being astute, instructed Manager Bai to make the arrangements.

"Manager Bai told me before that Ye Shaoling has returned to the capital, and the recipes he has are very similar to ours," Jiang Hua said, looking at Shen Qingchuan.

“Miss Jiang, there’s no need to worry. It’s a two- or three-month journey from Qing Shi Town to the capital. Besides, Ye Shaoling is probably too busy to do anything right now.” Shen Qingchuan’s face was full of confidence.

"Oh?" Jiang Hua raised an eyebrow and looked at Shen Qingchuan, waiting for him to continue.

Shen Qingchuan gave Jiang Xingzhou a meaningful look before turning to Jiang Hua and explaining, "You acted too ostentatiously and offended people you shouldn't have."

Jiang Hua also noticed the look Shen Qingchuan gave Jiang Xingzhou, and she became somewhat certain of it.

"By the way, when you have some free time in a few days, you can come to Shili Village. I'll show you the rouge I've made, or you can take it back to the capital to see," Jiang Hua suggested.

"Miss Jiang, you were able to finish it so quickly?" Shen Qingchuan asked in surprise.

"I can make some first so you can see the effect," Jiang Hua nodded.

"Alright, then thank you for your hard work, Miss Jiang."

After dinner, Jiang Hua asked Sun Nian to prepare a superior room for her to rest.

"Aren't you going back to your room to rest with Miss Jiang?" Shen Qingchuan asked Jiang Xingzhou, waving his fan.

"Drink your tea. I don't want a repeat of Ye Shaoling's situation." Jiang Xingzhou watched Jiang Hua leave, then turned to Shen Qingchuan and said coldly.

When Shen Qingchuan heard him mention this, he touched his nose guiltily.

...

The next morning, Jiang Hua washed up in her spatial dimension and went downstairs for breakfast.

"Where are you going today?" Jiang Xingzhou asked as he poured her tea.

"You can go to the Meng family first and attend to your own business."

After having breakfast, Jiang Hua checked the time and realized it was getting late. She said goodbye to Jiang Xingzhou and left Mingyue Tower.

"Dr. Jiang, you've finally arrived!" Meng Xin stood up from her chair impatiently and ran to her in small steps.

"Has Young Master Liu arrived?" Jiang Hua asked politely.

"Not yet, but I think it will be soon," Meng Xin said shyly.

Just as Madam Meng was about to say something, the Meng family's butler strode over.

"Madam, Miss, there's a young master outside who wants to propose marriage to you," the butler said with a complicated expression.

"Is the young master, the steward, carrying anything?" Meng Xin asked before her mother could speak.

"Yes, Miss." The butler nodded.

"Then please ask him to wait in the main hall." Madam Meng glanced at her daughter, guessing that her heart had already flown to that man.

A quarter of an hour later, Madam Meng led Jiang Hua and Meng Xin to the main hall and sat down.

By this time, Liu Yan was getting impatient. Just as he was about to get up and leave with a sour face, he turned around and saw Madam Meng and the others.

"Brother Liu Yan!" Meng Xin was overjoyed and wanted to go up and talk to Liu Yan.

"Ahem!" Madam Meng coughed lightly, glanced at Meng Xin without any expression of joy, and gestured for her to sit down.

Seeing her mother's expression, Meng Xin had no choice but to obediently sit down.

"Young Master Liu, is there anything I can do for you today?" Madam Meng asked, taking a sip of tea in a neutral tone.

“Madam Meng, it is like this: Xin Xin and I are in love with each other, and Xin Xin is carrying my child. Therefore, I have come to propose marriage to you and betroth Xin Xin to me,” Liu Yan said respectfully.

"Oh? Xin Xin mentioned this to me before. What gift did you bring today to ask for Xin Xin's hand in marriage?"

Madam Meng looked at the few boxes of cheap pastries on the table; the most expensive item was a silver hairpin in the brocade box.

"Madam Meng, your family is so wealthy and powerful, you certainly wouldn't care about the souvenirs that we poor people can afford."

When Liu Yan saw that even after he had said all that, Madam Meng still didn't give him a good look, but instead stared at the boxes of pastries he had brought over, he felt a little annoyed. Was she looking down on poor people like him?
