"That's hilarious! Are you two just bored and have nothing better to do than drag me into this to show off your love?" Jiang Hua said, her eyes filled with undisguised disdain.
“Huahua, Yan Yan and I have nothing,” Zhou Yingxuan explained.
"Yes, cousin, Xuan-gege and I really don't have anything," Lin Shuyan explained from the side.
"And then?" Jiang Hua raised an eyebrow at Zhou Yingxuan: "Zhou Yingxuan, why did you give me the money?"
"I..." Zhou Yingxuan was about to speak when Jiang Hua interrupted him.
"Do you want me to go back to that abusive home, to suffer all the bullying from the Xu family and Lin Shuyan, or to be sold by the Xu family to Xu Yaozu to marry a wife?"
"Or is it that without my presence, you feel a lack of accomplishment, and your kindness has nowhere to go?"
"Do you know how Lin Shuyan treats me behind my back every time you're nice to me? Can't you really see that?"
Jiang Hua's words seemed to completely tear away the fig leaf between the three of them. Upon hearing this, Zhou Yingxuan was stunned, his thin lips trembling slightly.
"Brother Xuan, that's not how it is, Cousin, I didn't..." Lin Shuyan explained with a hurt expression.
"Huahua, so in your heart, am I such a hypocrite?"
After a long silence, Zhou Yingxuan finally spoke and asked.
“Brother Xuan, you’re not one of those hypocritical people,” Lin Shuyan comforted him, her eyes red with tears.
“Cousin, blame me if you must. It was all my fault for not stopping Grandma and Aunt and Uncle from hitting you. Please don’t blame Brother Xuan anymore,” Lin Shuyan said to Jiang Hua.
"Huahua, I understand. It was my fault. I will never be presumptuous again." Zhou Yingxuan suddenly said in a cold voice:
"Don't drag Yan Yan into our business. She's innocent. Yan Yan is very kind. I hope you won't slander her like this in the future."
Jiang Hua was too lazy to talk to the two idiots.
“Stepmother, you must be tired. Come in quickly, let me give you a shoulder massage,” Jiang Jingyi said as he walked over.
"Good, Xiao Yi is so sensible." Jiang Hua didn't even bother to look at them and followed Jiang Jingyi back to the inner room.
Fifteen minutes later, when Jiang Hua came out of the courtyard again, there was no one there.
“Stepmother, before that Ye Dongjia left, he looked at me as if he had skinned me alive,” Jiang Jingyi suddenly said.
“Then you’d better stick close to your stepmother from now on, or she’ll skin you alive,” Jiang Hua replied, going along with his answer.
"Yes, I understand, stepmother." Jiang Jingyi nodded seriously.
After resting for two days, Jiang Hua went to help out at the shop, where business had gradually stabilized.
There weren't as many customers as at the beginning, after all, there are quite a few foods to eat in Qing Shi Town, and snail rice noodles are not the only option.
"Girl, something terrible has happened!"
On this day, as soon as Jiang Hua entered the door, Wen Ya quickly came to greet her.
"What's wrong?" Jiang Hua asked, frowning as she looked at the impulsive Qing Ru.
“There’s also a snail rice noodle shop right across from us,” Wenya quickly said.
"Oh, really?" Jiang Hua went out and took a look.
Just as Wenya had said, a snail rice noodle shop really did open across the street, Ye Family Snail Rice Noodle Shop.
They simply put the name on it, so she didn't have to think about it; she knew who it was.
"Girl, they've spread the word that the taste is basically the same as ours, but they're selling it for a lower price."
"Miss, I really didn't reveal our shop's soup base recipe," Fangru explained nervously as she stepped forward.
"I know, go get to work," Jiang Hua said, waving her hand without any sign of mind.
"Sister Jiang, I think I know something?" Honghua said timidly.
"Hmm?" Jiang Hua looked at her.
“Sister Jiang, she claimed to be your cousin, and she came to the shop with that Young Master Ye to eat snail rice noodles and braised dishes,” Honghua recalled.
"Okay, I understand." Jiang Hua nodded.
"Look, isn't my heroine amazing?"
The long-absent, mechanical voice of the system rang out: "You wouldn't believe it, would you? This is the cheat code I've given her recently."
Upon hearing this, Jiang Hua understood. So, the reason this damn system hadn't spoken for so long was because it was plotting something.
So, what kind of special ability did Lin Shuyan possess? A remarkable palate that allows her to discern the recipe for any dish, no matter what she's eating?
Jiang Hua guessed to herself.
Perhaps sensing Jiang Hua's silence, the system was already smugly showing off in its mind.
"Stepmother, what's wrong?" Seeing that Jiang Hua didn't speak, Jiang Jingyi thought she was affected by Honghua's words, so he quickly tugged at her sleeve.
"I'm fine."
In the afternoon, Jiang Hua took Jiang Jingyi to Shili Village, where Village Chief Lu had already found workers to build the house.
"So few?" Jiang Hua asked, looking at the mere dozen or so people.
“Miss Jiang, isn’t this enough?” Village Chief Lu asked.
"Not enough, the more the better." Jiang Hua shook her head.
"Miss Jiang, how big of a house are you planning to build? We're all experienced workers," the leader of the dozen or so workers asked, stepping forward proactively.
"These are my blueprints. See if you can build it according to them," Jiang Hua said, handing him the blueprints.
The man took the blueprints from Jiang Hua's hand and was completely stunned.
When Village Chief Lu saw this, he went over to take a look and was completely dumbfounded.
"Miss Jiang, are you serious?" Village Chief Lu blurted out.
"A house with five...five courtyards!"
"Miss Jiang, are you sure you can manage staying here? What if guests come and you don't even know when they knock on the door?"
Didn't they hear you knocking?
This is a good question. Jiang Hua thought about it briefly and quickly came up with a solution.
Why not just buy a dozen maids to serve you then? You'll surely hear the knocking on the door then.
“Miss Jiang, if you build a house according to these blueprints, with five courtyards, it will cost a lot of money. And you’re asking for a brick house.” The foreman hesitated.
"Here's two thousand taels of silver. Take it and buy bricks and building materials for the house," Jiang Hua said, handing the two thousand taels of silver notes to Village Chief Lu.
"I've already checked the going rate for your wages. Meals aren't included, so it'll be fifteen coins a day. The more people, the better. I'm in a hurry to move in."
"Fifteen coins a day!"
Everyone was in an uproar, and Village Chief Lu felt that the two thousand taels of silver notes in his hand were burning hot.
He had lived most of his life and had never received so much silver!
"Thank you so much, Miss Jiang!"
Village Chief Lu knew that Jiang Hua was a person of her word, and now that she had decided to build such a large house, it was true.
"Village Chief Lu, there's no need for thanks. I'll have to trouble you to help me with the construction of my house," Jiang Hua said politely.
