Chapter 16 The Case and Police Officer Li Yue

A few days later, in the afternoon, Xu Chen bumped into Li Yue, dressed casually, at the school gate. Li Yue had striking features, delicate eyebrows, and a tall figure; her appearance immediately attracted the attention of many male students. Xu Chen asked in confusion, "Excuse me, who are you?" Li Yue smiled and extended her hand to Xu Chen. "Hello, my name is Li Yue. I came here specifically to thank you. This isn't the place to talk, shall we find somewhere to sit down?" Xu Chen nodded and led Li Yue to a nearby coffee shop. They found seats, put down their bags, and sat down opposite each other. Xu Chen looked at Li Yue's face and felt like he had seen her somewhere before. "Excuse me, did we meet before..." "Have you seen her before?" Li Yue asked excitedly, quickly replying, "Yes, just a few days ago at Xingda Shopping Mall. I was the police officer in charge." Xu Chen then recalled that he had noticed a pretty policewoman and paid her a few extra glances. "I'm here today to thank you. If you hadn't intervened, that girl might have been hurt." Xu Chen thought to himself, "Looks like she knows me." He quickly waved his hand, "It's nothing, no need to thank me. I just saw injustice and helped." Li Yue gave Xu Chen an appreciative look. Helping those in need is rare these days; most people just watch with a spectator's mentality. "Regardless, thank you very much."

Li Yue glanced at Xu Chen and noticed his handsome features and bright, piercing eyes. Her face suddenly flushed, and she inwardly cursed herself for never having seen a man before, actually developing feelings for a man seven years her junior. Xu Chen looked at the dazed Li Yue, finished his coffee, and then said, "If there's nothing else, I'll be going now." Li Yue watched the younger man walk away, her mind filled with curiosity. Someone who could accurately hit someone's hand with a stone thrown from forty meters away, and who could judge the timing and strike in just half a minute, was someone worth investigating and exploring. Originally, she really wanted to challenge Xu Chen to a fight and test his skills, but then she thought that would make her seem like a brainless female supporting character in those idiotic urban dramas. So she simply thanked Xu Chen, saying, "There will be plenty of opportunities in the future."

Xu Chen, back home, received a message from Wang Li: "Chenchen, who was that girl at the school gate after school today?" Xu Chen smiled and teased, "Her? She's my first love." A video call came in shortly after. Xu Chen went into his room, put down his schoolbag, and looked at the somewhat sad Wang Li. She whispered, "So...what did she want to see you about?" Xu Chen's expression turned serious; he hadn't expected this girl to be so easily teased. "Okay, just kidding. She's a police officer. You know about the hostage situation at Xingda Shopping Mall a while back? I was a witness, and she came to question me." Wang Li was taken aback, realizing Xu Chen had been teasing her. She immediately feigned anger: "Oh, Xu Chen, how dare you tease me! I won't be eating at home tomorrow morning. You're punished by having to bring me breakfast." Xu Chen put his phone on the table, clasped his hands together, and said, "Yes, sir."
