Chapter 201 Dragon Clan Gossip, Magical Beasts

Chapter 201 Dragon Clan Gossip, Magical Beasts

The night will eventually pass, and dawn will break.

Although the beast tide is not over yet, Lai and his group have weathered the crisis because the beasts changed course, and they can continue their journey after a short rest of half a day.

Tata's father didn't sleep all night and expended a lot of magic and energy.

He landed near the cave, told the monsters that they would come to help in the afternoon, and then found a place to rest.

He told Lai and the others not to worry about him and to set off as soon as the monsters arrived. He had a way to find them and would catch up quickly.

After a whole night of fear and anxiety, everyone was starving.

Lai went out to fetch water, while Lurian protected Seia and Tata, and started a fire near the cave.

I was in a rush and wanted to eat something hot as soon as possible.

Lai only added potatoes and greens to make a pot of dumpling soup, and everyone made do with this rare breakfast.

During this time, Sai asked Sai about the dragon race, and Sai told Lai everything she knew.

To the west of the mainland lies a sea, and in the sea is an island called "Dragon Island".

Dragon Island is home to the most mysterious dragon clan, whose birth can stir up countless storms on the continent.

This is common knowledge among all residents of the mainland.

However, after the war with the demons ended, the dragon race was severely weakened.

Out of concern for the continuation of their race, the dragon elders led the dragons to live in seclusion on an archipelago in the western sea, which is the origin of "Dragon Island".

In recent years, the only news about dragons has been from decades ago, about the scandalous affair between His Highness Willard II, the former lord of Speth Castle, and a dragon princess.

The story unfolds in a very clichéd way, and behind it lies a secret that cannot be told openly, known to very few.

All the world knows is that the married castle lord met a beautiful dragon maiden and divorced his wife for her. The two fell in love and stayed together, and the dragon princess gave birth to a dragon egg for him.

Little did they know the deception and endless scheming behind it.

Seyah only knew a little bit about it, so he told Lai about it as a bit of gossip outside of popular science.

"The dragon race has always lived in seclusion on Dragon Island, so how did they suddenly appear in the Eton Great Forest?"

Lai was puzzled and analyzed the reasons for this with Seyah.

Seyia had a slight suspicion, but he didn't want things to turn out the way he thought.

"Perhaps the demon army has already begun to invade Eaton, which is why the dragons have come out to suppress them."

Leie is more inclined to accept this conjecture.

"There is another possibility."

Lei looked at Seymour.

"Do you remember the story I just told about the castle lord and the dragon princess?"

“I remember, I remember, Seya, Li hasn’t told us the ending yet.”

Tata spoke first, her tone full of curiosity.

"The ending is that the princess died, and after the castle lord took the dragon egg, it was taken back by the dragons."

"This story is boring and has a bad ending."

Tata used the words she had learned from Ray to describe it.

"A failed project? That's a very apt description." Seya smiled and patted Tata's head.

"What a clever little monster."

“I remember that the current lord of the main castle in Speth is of mixed race.”

"Um."

Saya felt awkward inside, but her expression remained calm.

Ray first learned about mixed-race people from the goblin capture incident, when Rhys and another villager were gossiping about it.

"The current castle lord is that dragon egg, so the dragon last night could also be him."

Lei stated his guess with absolute certainty, and Seya did not deny it.

"Things are getting more and more chaotic now."

Lei sighed, and Seya followed suit.

"Let's rest for a while, we still have to travel this afternoon."

Sayya said, and went back to the cave first.

"What happened to Seya?"

Tata felt that the elves were a bit strange; the cubs were always very sensitive to other people's emotions.

"It's nothing, I'm just a little tired. Tata, aren't you sleepy?"

"No!"

The little monster shook its head firmly.

"The beast slept last night, Lei, go to sleep. The beast will guard the doors!"

"Okay, Tata has grown up. She's so good."

Lai, Seymour, and Ryan spent the entire morning catching up on sleep.

Just after noon, Lai vaguely heard Tata arguing with others, and he immediately woke up.

"Who are they?! Why are they near here?!"

Tata questioned the other party in a cute yet fierce manner.

Lai walked behind Tata and saw two very strong horses and a pony standing in the distance.

No, is this still a horse?

He looked at their single horns, which were at least thirty centimeters long, and seemed somewhat uncertain.

Could it be the legendary unicorn?

But he remembered that the unicorn described in the book was a pure, flawless white, which was clearly not the case with the three dark, horse-like creatures in front of him.

"Tata, get away from them quickly."

"good!"

Sensing Lei's wariness, the horse-like creatures moved away from them, showing no intention of attacking. One of them let out a neigh, and Tata seemed to understand what they were saying, beginning to communicate in a howling beast language.

“Lai, they said they were ‘horses’ that Beast Father found. After sending us to the Elf Kingdom, Beast Father promised to give them two magic cores.”

The reliable old father indeed solved their transportation problem.

Lai went back to the cave to call Seya, but the elf had already woken up.

The two packed all their luggage, moved to another location, and brought the three horse-like magical beasts to the other side of the carriage.

Thank God, their carriages are still the same as before.

With the help of the horse-like monster, Lei and Seya pulled the overturned carriage back onto its side.

Important parts such as the wheels and axles were intact, and the carriage could be repaired and used. Ray found the tools to repair the carriage.

Of the eight panes of glass in the two car windows, only the two on the left were preserved. He simply removed a few wooden planks from the shelf and nailed them in place to fill the remaining empty spaces.

Several wooden strips fell off the wheels, which he nailed back in.

After some hammering and tinkering, all the items were put back into the carriage, and it took a lot of effort to finally fix it.

The repair marks are severe, making it look particularly unsightly from the outside, with pieces of wood here and nails there, but it is sturdy and practical.

They have no room for criticism; they are good enough as long as they are usable.

The biggest problem, besides that, was that the magical beast that Tata's father found was too big, much larger than an ordinary horse.

Although their old horse harness had some spare parts, it was still a bit too small.

Lai then made further adjustments, trying to enlarge the harness so that the two magical beasts could fit into it.

“Lei, they say they can pull a carriage with just one horse.”

Tata translated.

This is excellent, meaning that travel speed can be significantly improved.

After more than two hours of effort, the Warcraft-themed carriage was officially unveiled. Lei and his companions finally breathed a sigh of relief and could set off again.

What about that foal?

Lei asked Tata to translate for Warcraft.

It turns out that the two magical beasts are a family, and the little magical beast is their child.

“They said we don’t need to worry about it, he’s already big enough to keep up on his own.”

Hmm, it seems that there are significant differences in how Warcraft treats its cubs among different monsters.

Do you need us to provide food?

Lei continued to ask, and Tata relayed the message.

"Need not."

Lai shook his head as he looked at the monster, and when Tata translated it back for him, he shook his head as well, which was especially cute.

"It will find its own food."

Well, we've saved them the cost of food.

"One last question."

"What's the problem?"

Can they understand Common Tongue?

Tata asked the monster again, then shook her head.

"cannot."

"good."

After Lai and Seya familiarized themselves with the commands from the horse-like monster couple, the carriage was pulled up and the wheels started turning again.

Lai and his group finally set foot on the dirt road leading to the Elf Kingdom once again.
