Chapter 58 Tata's Adventures (Part 1) Running Away, Falling into a Trap

Chapter 58 Tata's Adventures (Part 1) Running Away, Falling into a Trap

The door was ajar, with a small crack in it.

A chilly breeze, due to the temperature difference between inside and outside, kept blowing into the living room. Finally, a strong gust of wind blew through and opened the heavy wooden door.

The fire in the stove had gone out, and the only remaining piece of wood that hadn't completely burned was keeping the stove warm.

As cold air entered the room, tiny sparks flickered on the wood with the airflow, emitting wisps of gray smoke. Suddenly, the wood spontaneously combusted again.

Tata was fast asleep by the fireplace after eating his fill when a cold wind blew by, making him shiver, but he didn't wake up.

He only slowly opened his eyes when the temperature in the living room dropped to a very low level.

He shook his fur, felt a cold wind blowing behind him, and turned around to look behind him. To his surprise, the door was open.

Those two humans are sleeping; isn't this a perfect opportunity to escape?

Father, Mother, Tata will be back soon! Make sure to prepare some delicious fresh meat for the beast!

Tata burst out of the small building like a small cannonball.

The big yellow dog in the yard trembled with fear at the aura of the high-level magical beast, tucking its tail between its legs and hiding in its kennel. The mule paced anxiously in the shed.

Leaving the small building, Tata sprinted and jumped onto the low wall, carefully observing her current location and surrounding environment.

Opposite him stood a tall cedar tree, and fifty meters away he could see a cluster of houses. Beyond those, he saw the woods in the distance.

He remembered that his home was in the Great Forest of Eton.

His father had said that when he was big enough, he would take him to tour all the lands they owned and teach him hunting skills. When he reached adulthood, he would also have his own land.

Tata was, after all, a two-year-old cub, an age when she should have been playing carefree under the protection of her parents, but now she had been kidnapped and brought into human society.

Recalling the happy times of the past, her round, big eyes glistened with tears of grievance.

Wait for Tata, Tata will be home soon!

The little furball jumped off the low wall and ran headlong towards the woods.

The big yellow dog came out of its kennel and paced restlessly. Realizing that no one had noticed the newcomer had run away, it started barking wildly.

"Woof woof woof!"

The barking of the dog woke up Ray, who was a light sleeper. He opened the door to the living room and immediately understood what had happened when he saw the open door.

"Brother, what's wrong?"

Neil stumbled down the stairs, scratching his head a couple of times. His hair had grown considerably longer in the past few months.

Why is the door open?

Neil's eyes widened suddenly as he looked at Raye with a questioning gaze. A hint of relief mingled with his nervousness.

"elder brother?"

His voice trembled slightly. Lei felt a pang of pity, but the deed was done and there was no escaping it.

"They ran away."

Neil pouted, trying to hold back his tears.

"Don't rush, put on some warm clothes and we'll go find him."

"good!"

Neil dashed back to his room and changed his clothes and shoes. Ray also put on a cotton coat and casually stuffed the dagger into his pocket.

"Walk."

The two locked the door and began searching for the small pet that had escaped.

It was freezing cold, and footprints weren't easily left on the ground. Most of the snow that Lai swept away piled up next to the low wall, where several small paw prints could be clearly seen.

"You exit from this side!"

Neil pointed to the low wall and said.

There wasn't much snow on the wall, and the paw prints disappeared quickly, making it difficult to determine the direction Tata had left in.

"It seems to have gone into the woods. The woods are huge, so it's not easy to find them."

Lei's judgment.

"Then what should we do?"

Neil pinned all his hopes on Ray.

"Go back inside and get the towel An'an used. Let's see if Da Huang can find him."

Lai turned his gaze to the big yellow dog in the yard.

Hopefully it will work.

Neil quickly brought out a towel, and Ray took it from Dahuang, smelled it, and loosened the other end of the chain.

Big Yellow was very excited, barked once, and rushed out. Ray, holding the chain, and Neil followed behind, heading towards the woods.

Tata jumped down the low wall and quickly darted backwards on her short legs into the woods.

Except for the paths where people usually walk, everywhere here is covered in snow. Tata's fur is so white from being washed that it's completely invisible once it jumps into the snow.

He ran as fast as he could, but he was already panting heavily after only a short distance.

He heard voices coming from the woods and immediately hid under the dry grass. Sure enough, two humans passed by where he had just been.

The two of them chatted as they carried a dead tree as thick as a thigh past.

"Have you heard? Maggie's second son brought her niece from her maternal family home with a mule!"

"Really?"

Another person immediately asked, being gossipy.

"How could what I saw with my own eyes be fake?"

"Her niece is so old, wasn't she supposed to marry the eldest son? Why was it the second son who went to pick her up?"

The man asked again.

“It seems they couldn’t wait any longer and kept urging us. The eldest son went out to work a few days ago and only then did he say he would be back in a few days. Maggie immediately arranged for her second son to bring her niece back, saying she wanted to give him a surprise.”

"surprise?"

He scoffed.

"I think it's more like a shock! Who in the village doesn't know that Maggie used despicable means to break up her eldest son and his childhood sweetheart? It's only because the eldest son is filial that he's left; otherwise, I would have run away long ago!"

"It's because he has younger siblings to take care of him, and it's not easy for him either."

...

The two quickly walked past the withered grass, unaware that Tata was hiding there.

The little guy breathed a sigh of relief and continued on his way after everyone had walked away.

This time, he deliberately chose to go to more secluded places to avoid humans who might appear at any time.

He was just too small; no matter how hard he tried to run, he was still very slow.

When will we finally reach the Great Forest of Eton? My father hasn't come looking for me; has he abandoned me?

Tata got tired of running and started having some terrible thoughts. Without paying attention, she stepped into a trap and ended up hanging upside down from a tree.

"Aww!"

The little monster's innocent cries were filled with anger and fear.

He swung his limbs, turning himself from an upside-down position to an upright one.

It turned out that he had been caught in a net, and no one knew who had set the trap here.

"Awooo!"

Tata struggled desperately, but couldn't escape. He stopped screaming and forced himself to calm down, trying to think of a way to escape the net.

There are all sorts of birds in a big forest; after all, with so many goblins gathered together, there are bound to be a few who don't follow the rules.

Although the mountain where they lived was safe, there wasn't much prey there either. After the goblins' recent raids, they couldn't even find a trace of it.

So some goblins took a long way to avoid people's sight and came here to hunt secretly.

To be honest, the trap was very rudimentary, but Tata was preoccupied with other things, so she stepped right into it.

The commotion was quite loud, and the goblin who was trying to capture a wild red field bird immediately ran back to the trap.

Three dark figures stood out against the snow-covered forest; Tata spotted them as soon as she looked down.

They weren't obedient goblins like Iru and his companions; they just wanted to hunt some meat to improve their meals. If Iru and the others hadn't hidden their food so well, why would they have come out hunting in this freezing weather?

"It's a white, long-toothed beast."

"No, it's clearly a cat."

"Why do I feel like I'm looking at a little fox?"

The three goblins stood at the foot of the tower, excitedly discussing something.

"Never mind what it is, as long as it's edible, that's all that matters."

"right!"

"right!"

At this point, the goblins excitedly wanted to put down their prey hanging there. After putting Tata down, they didn't dare to approach him rashly, but just stood very close and watched.

"I told you it was a cat."

The goblin's tone was filled with the smugness of victory.

"Bring the stick over here."

One of the goblins handed a stick to the other. The goblin took the stick and slammed it down on Tata's hind leg. Tata howled in pain.

The goblin was about to make another move, intending to beat his prey to death in the net.

Pain and the perception of danger spurred Tata to reach her full potential.

A beam of blue light appeared near his mouth and shot out, freezing the goblin's hand that was holding the wooden club high.

"Ouch! That hurts so much! What was that?!"

The goblin screamed and clutched his arm. The other two goblins rushed over and saw that his hand holding the stick was frozen solid, maintaining a tight grip on the stick.
