Chapter 3

Chapter 3

I also attended school for a while in the celestial realm.

Our school is different from the human world. Our classrooms are not so crowded; they are spacious, and the things we talk about are much more interesting, such as silencing spells, fire control spells, and shapeshifting spells.

Speaking of this transformation magic, I really don't understand it. Wu Qi can transform into 72 different forms in no time next to me, like Sun Wukong reincarnated, while I transform into a strange creature that doesn't resemble anything else, which makes the whole class burst into laughter.

A comparison reveals just how boring classrooms are.

Actually, I initially planned to just coast along, since it was only a year and nothing would come of it. However, on the third day of school, I was called away by the teacher, who said I was sleeping in class the whole time.

this.

This is really not my fault. If anyone is to blame, it's that teacher. He lectured like he was chanting a sutra, which confused anyone who listened. Instead of reflecting on his own actions, he came over and lectured me. He's crazy.

But I couldn't say it like that. I was quite tactful. I said I would try my best to restrain myself in the future.

The teacher was unhappy again, feeling that I was subtly mocking him.

"Come on, tell me, how can you not sleep?"

I rubbed the back of my neck and came up with a reasonable answer: "I won't listen to you, so I won't go to sleep."

Then I was kicked out and made to stand as punishment.

Standing for two classes, with people coming and going in the corridor, I felt that not many people in this school knew about me, the newcomer, before, but now everyone does.

Ugh, so embarrassing.

I secretly recited all 108 Heavenly Rules, trying to calm myself down, but when I got to "You cannot throw fruit peels or melons in the Heavenly Court," I got hungry.

I was so hungry that I didn't decide until school was over that the first thing I would do after leaving the school gate was to find a convenience store.

I asked my deskmate, and the nearest convenience store was two blocks away. I had no idea what two blocks meant, and it wasn't until half the people around had disappeared that I finally found the little convenience store tucked away in the corner.

I asked the shop assistant where the sunflower seeds were, and he pointed to behind a pillar.

The place was in a corner; it took me ages to find it. I grabbed two nicely packaged bags, and just as I looked up, a dark shadow flashed past the glass window.

The movements were too fast; it was hard to tell whether it was real or an illusion.

I stared blankly for two seconds, then realized that my posture was a bit idiotic, shook my head, and went to pay the bill.

18 pieces.

I was utterly shocked.

Is this a rip-off? Such expensive sunflower seeds.

However, I've always been too lazy to argue with people. At worst, I'll just take on some hard work in a few days to earn the money back. Why bother with money?

So I bought two more bags. They had a buy-four-get-one-free deal, so I carried five bags of sunflower seeds back home. On the way, I thought I saw that dark figure again, but this time I was more experienced and just assumed it was my imagination. I guessed it was just from standing in the corner as punishment that afternoon.

The place I'm living in now was also found for me by Lady Taixi. She's incredibly powerful; she knows everything and knows everyone. She found me a place to live in the mortal realm, in a four-story apartment building. It's nothing special, just a small balcony.

Ordinary people hang their clothes out to dry on the balcony, but I don't have that many clothes, so I look at the stars.

Unfortunately, the clouds were too thick to see many stars.

After you've seen enough, go to bed and do some mindless homework.

Honestly, it's so idiotic, I don't even bother writing it.

Occasionally, Wu Qi would come to see me.

However, his way of making an appearance is rather unusual. He would just inexplicably appear on my balcony, tap his knuckles on the glass window, and signal me to open it for him.

My attitude was fairly amiable: "There's a very ingenious invention in the world called a 'door,' so next time you can just take a couple of steps."

Wu Qi sat down casually on my desk. "Really? I'll try it next time."

Bullshit. Next time you'll have to appear through the window again.

I know his character too well, I really can't bear to expose him.

Wu Qi would eat my sunflower seeds and ask me what happened today. No matter how witty or unusual my answer was, he would just smirk and say, "Boring."

I'm so angry but I can't say anything. If you find it boring, then don't listen. You keep listening, and I can't get rid of you no matter what I say.

However, I also have a problem; I tend to get carried away when I talk, and I might say things like, "But I was at the convenience store the other day—"

He only realized halfway through his explanation that this was a rather unseemly eye-dropping phenomenon, and suddenly rolled his eyes and remained silent.

Wu Qi asked, "What happened at the convenience store?"

I breathed a sigh of relief. "It's okay."

Fearing he might overthink it, I added, "Buy four sunflower seeds and get one free at the convenience store."

Wu Qi laughed and said, "I'm just a small person, yet I try to take advantage of ordinary people."

I punched him on the head: "Other kids get comforted by their parents after school, they don't need sunflower seeds to keep them entertained."

After saying that, I sighed and remembered the looks I got when I was being punished by standing in the corner. "I was the only one who was upset."

Wu Qi's expression froze for a moment at first, then he beamed with joy.

He ruffled my hair, then, noticing it was getting late, prepared to leave: "Go to sleep early, you're the most depressed person in the world."

I didn't try to stop him, but I told him, against my will, not to fall and die.

It would be better if he could die from the fall, but I know that's impossible for him.

Although his official title sounds rather lazy—the God of Wealth—it's just something passed down from his ancestors for thousands of years; he didn't choose it himself. Wu Qi's magical power or skill is top-notch; even if he were reduced to a semi-mortal, he would still be at a high level.

I'm different. I have a little bit of cleverness, but I'm just a lazy bum in this world.

Not only me, but my deskmate said the same thing.

She was a girl who knew how to dress herself well. At first, we ignored each other, until one day I forgot her name and was in a hurry to go out, so I called her "Pigtails".

Unexpectedly, she gave him a disdainful look and said, "Do you have something to say, Little Red Rope?"

I:"……"

Finally, we looked at each other and then burst out laughing. I begged her, "Let me out. If I don't hand in my homework, I'll be punished again."

The girl with the braided hair pulled the stool leg forward: "Hurry up, hurry up, I don't dare to sleep in class without you."

I laughed in exasperation: "You sleep even better if I sleep next to you?"

Braided pigtails: "No, you sleep even more soundly than me, so the teacher usually only catches you."

I:"……"

Then we got better.

To be honest, I really like people who dare to speak their minds. Although they're very straightforward, it's very comfortable to be around them. For example, when I later found out she had OCD, I would often tease her by saying she'd lost a lock of hair while combing it.

Later, she probably felt that the little red rope didn't suit me, so she called me by my full name "Sang Yue", and I called her by her full name "Meng Xiaoqiong".

That day, Meng Xiaoqiong and I walked home from school together. I'm always generous to people I'm close to, and I always give them my best. So I sincerely invited her to my house to eat sunflower seeds.

But she said she had something to do and declined.

It's strange, she was fine before I mentioned eating sunflower seeds.

I was carrying my schoolbag and was about to ask her what was wrong when I heard a commotion outside the school gate.

I'm not tall enough, so even standing on the steps I can't see very clearly.

Meng Xiaoqiong pressed my tiptoe back down and waved her hand dismissively, saying, "I guess it's some kind of luxury car accident, or maybe it's a luxury car that's been in an accident."

I didn't quite understand, so I asked, "Is this such a big deal?"

"People are all rather superficial," Meng Xiaoqiong added.

I have nothing to say about that.

After all, we're not human, and we don't dare to ask.

As I approached the door, preparing to say goodbye to Meng Xiaoqiong, another commotion erupted outside, this time a small chorus of screams.

I wasn't curious at first, but I couldn't help but look towards the source of the sound, and then my eyes widened suddenly.

The man in the crowd stood with his head down, sunglasses hanging behind his ears, holding a lollipop stick in both hands. Actually, he wasn't dressed flashy at all, just a simple white T-shirt and skinny jeans, his legs resting against the bright pink sports car behind him, glancing at me from afar.

I instinctively looked away, not caring whether they saw me or not, and quickly fled into the crowd, hoping to escape by taking advantage of the large number of people.

Meng Xiaoqiong didn't react immediately and reached out to tug at me, "Where are you going?"

I desperately wanted to run away. Even when I encountered people in the Heavenly Realm or enemies among the Demon Clan, I was never this panicked.

I calmly broke free from her, but the next second, I was pulled aside by another hand.

Another round of screams erupted around them, even more frenzied than before.

I finally understand what it means to feel embarrassed.

The man grabbed my shoulders and turned me around, then held me firmly with one hand. He asked me with a smirk, "Pretending not to know me, huh?"

I pushed him hard and mumbled, "...Wu Qi, stop being shameless."

He pretended to be deaf and blind, oblivious to the stares of so many people.

Then, in a voice that was neither too loud nor too soft, she announced: "I regret to inform you, Ms. Sang Yue, that you have lost your qualification to compete for the title of 'Number One Depressed Person in the World'."

I:"……"

Wu Qi pushed me towards the car, saying, "You'll have someone to pick you up from now on."

I:"……"

My teeth ached, and for a moment I didn't know what to say. I glanced at the crowd, and those who had passed by me and pitied me when I was being punished were now staring at me blankly, as if wondering who I was.

Wu Qi didn't notice at all. He shoved me into the back seat, then climbed in from the other side, grabbed the window, and jumped, landing perfectly on his feet.

I really want to punch him.

I miss it so much.

But I can't, there are too many people.

I said, "Could you please make your appearance a little more low-key?"

He put his sunglasses back on, revealing a smug set of white teeth in a smile: "No way. Your appearance is your peak."
