Chapter 19

Chapter 19

The pet hospital created a file for Qiao Ye so they could check it next time they came, and then Ji Fang took Qiao Ye home.

After Joe fell ill, he had to stay home to recuperate, and it took him almost a week to fully recover.

During this time, Joe had to take this unpleasant medicine every day. He wanted to cure it with his own immunity. It was just a cold; taking the medicine would take a week, and not taking the medicine would also take a week, so there was no difference.

However, his owner was too strict and had to watch him eat. He even prepared candy to coax him, which was quite unusual!

The master only allowed him to eat the original human food, and forbade him to eat any other snacks, which made Joe very helpless.

However, the original inhabitants eventually got used to the food they ate.

After Qiao had fully recovered from his illness by taking the medicine, Ji Fang stopped making him take it.

Wei Liangguan discovered that Ji Fang had called him. He called back immediately after leaving Youyuan Forest. Ji Fang answered and saw a man covered in blood and dirt. Wei Liangguan explained, "Don't even mention it. I was chasing a monster and went a little deeper, but I got lured into a hideout. Half of the regiment I was leading was wiped out. We barely made it out. The situation inside was extremely complicated, with chaotic magnetic field radiation."

Ji Fang's expression was grave as he said, "My situation is the opposite of yours, and it feels calmer, but there's an unsettling feeling that a storm is brewing."

The two talked about some things at the border, and their mood wasn't good. The situation at the border is constantly changing, and this year has been particularly turbulent.

After talking for more than half an hour, Wei Liangguan finally remembered the reason for making the call in the first place: "Since everything is peaceful on your end, why are you calling me in the middle of the night? Are you lonely and missing me? I don't like that kind of thing!"

Ji Fang was speechless, his tone slightly cold: "Try saying that again, and the treatment room won't be able to cure your disability by the next time we meet!"

Wei Liangguan immediately refused: "No, I was wrong, I was just joking, hehe." Wei Liangguan was still curious, "Then you didn't accidentally call me in the middle of the night, so you contacted me?"

Ji Fang stopped Wei Liangguan's chaotic thoughts in time, and said, "The original human I raised had a fever in the middle of the night, and I wanted to ask you how to deal with it."

Wei Liangguan was quite experienced with the matter of the Primordial People. He said, "It's very troublesome when Primordial People get sick, especially when they have a high fever. If the fever isn't brought down in time, it can lead to pneumonia or other serious conditions. It's been so many days, is it better yet?"

Ji Fang nodded, "I took it to the vet, they prescribed some medicine, and I've been giving it to it every day. It's fine now."

The thought of feeding medicine gave Wei Liangguan a headache. He asked, "Is your dog willing to take its medicine obediently?"

Ji Fang nodded: "Yes, it's very well-behaved; it takes its medicine when told to."

Wei Liangguan was somewhat surprised. He once again envied his friend's incredible luck in finding such an obedient, well-behaved, and intelligent primitive human, who had even been delivered to his doorstep.

Speaking of Ji Fang's temperament, he doesn't seem to have the kind of charm that pets have. It's already a good thing if animals aren't afraid of him. Could it be because he's handsome?

They should have brought this well-behaved little Yuanren over to raise in the first place; theirs is just too much of a worry.

Wei Liang felt nothing but envy. Now that Ji was raising it, there was absolutely no way to get it back. When he first saw this Primordial Human, he felt that this Primordial Human was different from other Primordial Humans. Its eyes were particularly intelligent!

To prevent the original person from running away at will, Ji Fang changed to a more secure lock. Qiao also looked at the key he had hidden before, realizing that everything was now useless, and sighed. He had lost his freedom.

Qiao also eagerly awaited Ji Fang's return every day, feeling that if he continued like this for a long time, he would get sick from feeling stifled.

When Ji Fang finally had time to take him out, Qiao became very happy, and Ji Fang could clearly sense his joy.

Ji Fang patted his head and asked, "Don't like being locked up? Then I'll take you out more often! We're going to the vet for deworming today."

Once outside, Joe would be secured with a safety rope, which made him feel uncomfortable, but he understood.

Although he considered himself a person with dignity, in this world he was merely a pet, on par with cats and dogs. In the eyes of the Cohen people, he was an animal, someone who could be killed without breaking the law.

Seeing the owner holding the rope, Qiao quickly stepped forward and took Ji Fang's hand, so that it didn't look like he was being led by a rope.

Ji Fang glanced down, gently tightened his grip on Yuan Ren's small hand, and the two quickly arrived at the pet hospital.

Qiao and Ji went inside and saw Dr. Xu and his assistant holding down a primitive person and forcibly feeding him medicine. The primitive person struggled, looked very resistant, and made pig-like screams.

Qiao felt a chill run down her spine upon hearing the sound. The struggling cries were exactly the same as those in the original human slaughterhouse, reminding Qiao of the terrifying scene, and her face instantly turned pale.

The original human being being fed medicine was being held by an older woman. After the medicine was finished, the woman held him and kept comforting him, but the original human being cried incessantly, as if he had suffered a great injustice.

Joe also felt a bit annoyed. He couldn't stand seeing a grown man cry. Although he knew that this adult primitive man's intelligence was only that of a five-year-old, he still felt a strong sense of incongruity.

Qiao also took a closer look at this original person. He was well-fed and plump, and even his aunt could hardly hug him. He probably weighed about 200 pounds. Upon closer inspection, however, he turned out to be a father-in-law.

Joe felt a chill in his lower abdomen. He looked at the pet hospital with some fear. Did they not offer spaying/neutering surgery here? He didn't want to have to go through surgery!

Ji Fang sensed that the person in his arms was a little nervous, so he patted Qiao Ye's back to comfort him.

When Dr. Xu saw Qiao Ye, he was deeply impressed by this original human. No one can dislike a smart and obedient pet. He said, "Here for deworming today? Let me register it first."

Joe looked around and, finding no signs of any spaying or neutering incidents at the pet hospital, calmly accepted the medication the doctor was giving him.

Dr. Xu instructed Ji Fang to hold down Qiao Ye's wrist to prevent him from struggling. Qiao Ye only felt the pain the moment the needle pierced his skin.

Seeing that he had indeed finished obediently and without making a fuss, Dr. Xu was a little puzzled. Logically speaking, such obedience and calmness was too strange. He asked, "Your original person may not have developed enough pain receptors."

Joe wanted to roll his eyes too. Of course it hurt! Was he going to scream and wail like that primitive man just now because of the pain of the injection? He didn't want to embarrass himself!

After the injection, Dr. Xu continued to promote his services: "Do you plan to have your pet spayed or neutered? If this pet is any older, the surgical wound will heal very slowly. Autumn is a better time for surgery because the weather is neither too hot nor too cold."

Joe froze. If his owner were to neuter him, he would do everything in his power to escape through the window like Spider-Man! Never!

Qiao's heart pounded as she awaited Ji Fang's answer.

Ji Fang hadn't considered sterilization; he said, "No sterilization."

Qiao felt a weight lifted off her shoulders; thankfully.

Dr. Xu continued, "If it's not spayed or neutered, it will be very troublesome. Unlike other animals, primitive humans don't have fixed estrus periods. Once that period is over, it's over. Primitive humans can go into heat at any time once they are mature. It's so big now, it should have been in heat before, right?"

Ji Fang recalled that Ling Mu usually liked to wear pet costumes and didn't like to be naked, and there were no signs of him being in heat.

Ji Fang had witnessed the behavior of primitive humans during their heat cycle; some would make indecent gestures towards their owners anytime, anywhere, and even soil the room with filth, but Qiao did not.

Ji Fang said, "He didn't."

Dr. Xu felt increasingly that this original person was somewhat strange. He looked puzzled and said, "Your original person seems different from others. I suggest he have a full body check-up to see if he has a mental illness."

Now, Qiao finds the doctor repulsive. He not only wants to turn him into a eunuch, but also wants his owner to pay more money. Qiao doesn't want to stay in this pet hospital anymore.

Qiao also pulled Ji Fang outside, signaling them to leave.

Dr. Xu sensed that the customer wasn't very interested, so he casually remarked, "We should pay more attention to Yuan Ren's mental well-being. We should take him outdoors more often; keeping him cooped up at home for too long will make him sick."

Welcome back next time!

Qiao angrily pulled Ji Fang forward, and upon hearing the farewell message from the server at the entrance, she thought to herself, "I'm never coming here again!"

Ji Fang found it somewhat amusing that the pet hospital was so strongly opposed to it: "You don't like it here?"

Qiao also lowered her head, squeezed Ji Fang's hand, and instructed him to drive, making it clear that she wanted to leave.

Ji Fang patted his head, drove away, and returned to the residential area.

There are also people in the community who keep Yuanren (a type of human-like creature). Qiao had seen it before, but never had the chance to interact with it. She just happened to meet an old man walking his Yuanren.

"You've taken good care of your original human! Did you go out for a stroll?" The old man, with his hands behind his back and holding the original human's hand, praised Qiao.

Ji Fang nodded slightly to the old man, "Let it loosen up a bit."

The old man agreed, "Yes, that's right. If my little one doesn't come out for a walk every day, he'll tear the house down. He's happy when he comes out. Look, look." The old man shook the rope and led the little man who was playing with stones on the ground over.

The original human had neatly cut hair, but didn't want to pay attention to the old man. He just wanted to squat on the ground and play with stones. The old man pulled him up by the rope, and then he naturally started to urinate under the tree roots.

Qiao also felt extremely embarrassed when she saw this scene, but the old man and Ji Fang did not feel embarrassed at all.

The old man was still praising Qiao Ye: "She looks very well-behaved, much quieter than my dog. Look at those eyes, they're so bright!"

Ji Fang didn't talk much with the old man, but he gained more experience in raising Yuanren. He thought that keeping Yuanren at home was a last resort. Taking them to the military camp wasn't impossible, but it would have a bad influence. As a military general, it would be too inappropriate for him to take Yuanren there.

Acting like Wei Liangguan is simply outrageous!

Ji Fang has his own principles, and keeping Yuan Ren locked up at home was a last resort.
