Chapter 80 was also sent to the police station, where Qiao's neighbors were...

With the testimonies of Qiao's neighbors and Director Guo's attempt to shift the blame, it was an undeniable fact that Wang Zhaodi had forced him into marriage and abused him. The police station immediately put Wang Zhaodi into a detention center.

The police were summoned by Director Shen, and Qiao Aimei was also taken away by Director Shen. The final outcome of the matter will definitely be reported to Director Shen.

The day after the police detained Wang Zhaodi, they reported the results of their investigation to the Women's Federation. When the women in the office heard about this, they were furious and gave Wang Zhaodi a severe dressing-down.

Liu Wenhong was aware of this matter, and the fact that she was saying such things now was clearly because she was taking advantage of Qiao Aimei's honest nature and her reluctance to cause trouble, and was deliberately trying to annoy her.

Qiao Aimei has already suffered enough, and yet she still uses such words to hurt people's feelings. It's disgusting to the core.

Qiao Aimei was upset by Liu Wenhong's words. Her face turned red, she lowered her head, and tears streamed down her face. Liu Wenhong looked at her, feeling smug.

Hmph, Qiao Aimei doesn't know her place and dares to disrespect her.

Qiao Hongmei was honest and didn't dare to say anything, but Mingxi didn't tolerate Liu Wenhong. She slammed her hand on the table, her expression serious.

"Liu Wenhong, are you now advocating for the criminals?"

Liu Wenhong's eyes widened.

What's going on?

When did she ever speak up for criminals?

Mingxi: "After investigation, the police have confirmed that Wang Zhaodi's abuse of Qiao Aimei is clear, the evidence is conclusive, and the motive is clear. The case has been submitted to the procuratorate, and Wang Zhaodi has been detained in the police station. But what did you just say? You suspect that Qiao Aimei is faking it? Aren't you trying to defend Wang Zhaodi? What are you doing?"

She raised her voice, her words resounding: "Liu Wenhong, are you questioning the competence of the police officers, questioning the fairness of the public security system, and speaking out for a criminal?"

Liu Wenhong's legs almost went weak with fear.

Mingxi was always quick to label people, and these words were practically branding her as a reactionary who questioned the police and opposed the organization. Liu Wenhong's lips trembled; she couldn't understand how a casual remark could have led to such a serious accusation.

She quickly waved her hand: "No, no, I wasn't speaking up for Wang Zhaodi, I just... I just said it casually. Mingxi, don't take it to heart, just ignore what I said, don't worry about it."

Liu Wenhong rubbed her hands, hoping Mingxi would let her off this time, but Mingxi didn't even look at her, only staring at Qiao Aimei and saying, "Don't cry."

Liu Wenhong instantly understood Mingxi's meaning. She quickly turned her head, rubbing her hands together, and said to Qiao Aimei, "Aimei, don't cry. I was confused before and said the wrong thing without thinking. I didn't mean anything by it. I sincerely apologize to you. Please don't be angry with me..."

Qiao Aimei sobbed, her bloodshot eyes wide open, somewhat unable to comprehend how quickly Liu Wenhong's attitude had changed.

Seeing that Qiao Aimei remained silent, Liu Wenhong frowned impatiently. However, with Mingxi, such a troublemaker, still there, she dared not say anything. She could only purse her lips and reluctantly admit her mistake.

"Aimei, please don't be angry with me. Yes, I admit it was my fault. I complained that you didn't get me food, and I said those hurtful things on purpose to make you angry. I was just being cheeky and deserved a beating. But I really didn't mean to speak up for criminals or question the police officers. Please don't misunderstand!"

Qiao Aimei sobbed, not knowing what to do, and subconsciously looked at Mingxi.

Mingxi didn't speak, but Qiao Aimei gave her a meaningful look.

Whatever Qiao Aimei wanted to do with Liu Wenhong was entirely up to her.

Qiao Aimei sniffed, her face flushed, and looked at Liu Wenhong, saying, "Sister Liu, please don't be like this."

Liu Wenhong gritted her teeth, thinking to herself, "You're telling me not to do this? Then hurry up and forgive me! If you don't forgive me, how can I not beg you?"

She was unhappy inside, but on the surface she put on a kind face: "Aimei, I'm begging you to forgive me from the bottom of my heart. Please forgive me for taking care of you so much during this time. Don't be angry, and don't complain to Director Shen. I'm begging you."

Liu Wenhong put on a very convincing act of admitting her mistake, looking as if she wanted to kneel down before Qiao Aimei.

Mingxi was worried that Qiao Aimei would be fooled by Liu Wenhong's performance and forgive her so easily, but she didn't expect that although Qiao Aimei was honest, she was not without temper.

After hearing Liu Wenhong's words, Qiao Aimei simply shook her head gently.

"Sister Liu, don't worry, I won't go to Director Shen to complain."

Qiao Aimei: "But I won't forgive you either. What you just said was nasty, and I didn't like it. I also don't like it when you told me to go to the cafeteria to get food. You didn't give me money because you wanted me to help you take advantage of the cafeteria. I don't have any money. Director Shen kindly let me eat in the cafeteria without charging me, but I can't help you take advantage of the cafeteria. That would be letting down Director Shen and the cafeteria's kindness."

Liu Wenhong's face turned from blue to red, then back to blue, a jumble of colors that made her look quite unsightly.

She never expected that Qiao Aimei, such a spineless little girl, would point out that she wanted to take advantage of her.

People started arriving at the office one after another. Not only the staff from the Women's Federation office, but also the staff from the two offices on either side were almost all there. Liu Wenhong's voice attracted a lot of attention.

Feeling the piercing gaze directed at her, Liu Wenhong couldn't save face.

Although she usually took advantage of her seniority as an employee and would try to take advantage of any new staff member who joined the Women's Federation, the new employees were all shy and didn't dare to offend anyone. At most, they would complain a little to those they knew in private, but no one would spread the word. So, only people within the Women's Federation knew about Liu Wenhong's penchant for taking advantage of others.

Liu Wenhong had always maintained a good image in public, but when the people in the other offices heard this, they looked at her with surprise and whispered among themselves.

"I never would have guessed that Liu Wenhong was this kind of person."

"That's right, she's not bad off at all, so why is she like this?"

"They're never satisfied with just taking advantage; that's what makes people disgusting."

Everyone was talking about it, and Liu Wenhong's face turned completely dark. Just then, Director Shen arrived.

As soon as Director Shen went upstairs, she saw that her office door was surrounded by people in layers. She stepped forward with a stern face and asked, "What's going on?"

When the others who were gathered at the door saw the leader arrive, they all scattered and returned to their respective offices. The other people in the Women's Federation office did the same, all of them sitting back in their seats.

Director Shen turned his gaze to Mingxi, signaling her to explain what had happened. Mingxi had no choice but to step forward and quickly explain what had just occurred.

Director Shen already knew that Liu Wenhong liked to boss newcomers around and had them buy things for her.

Director Shen even criticized Liu Wenhong for this.

She didn't expect that Liu Wenhong, even after being criticized once, still hadn't changed this bad habit, and even used it on Qiao Aimei.

Qiao Aimei was already being abused at home and was placed in the Women's Federation, but unexpectedly she was being bossed around by Liu Wenhong.

Director Shen's face darkened immediately. She pointed at Liu Wenhong with a stern expression and said, "Liu Wenhong, you are also a veteran of our Women's Federation. How could you do such a thing! You really don't have money to buy food, so you're just looking for a bite to eat?"

Liu Wenhong lowered her head, not daring to make a sound.

Director Shen: "I'm asking you a question, so tell me. Are you really that desperate for food?"

This time, Liu Wenhong dared not ignore her. She quickly explained, "No, Director, I really didn't mean to this. I just forgot to bring my money."

Director Shen, seeing that she was still spouting nonsense, angrily slammed his hand on the table and said, "Why don't you forget your head! Besides, if you don't have any money, you'll just go hungry, won't you?"

Liu Wenhong nodded hurriedly: "Yes, yes, Director, please don't be angry. I promise it will only happen this once, there won't be a next time. If I don't have money with me next time, I won't eat."

Director Shen was still furious: "You want a next time? Let me tell you, this is your last chance. Go back today and write a self-criticism, seriously reflecting on your habit of taking advantage of others. After you finish writing it, come to the office tomorrow and seriously reflect on it in front of everyone else. If your reflection is not profound, then don't bother coming back."

Liu Wenhong: "Director, please don't! Director, please believe me, I will definitely reflect on my actions sincerely. Please don't send me home, I really will reflect on my actions sincerely..."

After Director Shen finished speaking, she turned around with her anger still simmering. She was so busy with work every day, and she had just arrived in the morning, and she still had to deal with this kind of petty thing that Liu Wenhong did to take advantage of others. What kind of person did she take her for?

Are you referring to the teachers in the preschool class who watch over the children to prevent them from fighting?

She doesn't have that much free time!

Director Shen turned and walked towards his office. Liu Wenhong, seeing that Director Shen was truly angry, panicked and hurriedly followed behind him, explaining, "Director, I really didn't mean it, please believe me, I..."

On the other side, watching Director Shen and Liu Wenhong leave, Yu Xiaomin excitedly sidled up to Mingxi and said, "Great! Liu Wenhong should have done this a long time ago. She's always trying to take advantage of everyone, and she deserves it this time. She's really bitten off more than she can chew!"

Yu Xiaomin and Liu Wenhong were already at odds, and what's more, Liu Wenhong's attempt to take advantage of someone backfired this time, so of course Yu Xiaomin wanted to gloat.

Mingxi felt a sense of satisfaction seeing Liu Wenhong's fate.

Liu Wenhong is someone who never learns from mistakes. The last time she came, I already disciplined her once, but I didn't expect her to still try to take advantage of me. She deserved to be scolded by Director Shen this time.

Qiao Aimei, on the other hand, looked flustered as she watched Liu Wenhong enter the office with Director Shen. She bit her lip; she hadn't intended to complain to Director Shen, but she hadn't expected him to overhear her.

Qiao Aimei clutched her sleeve and asked, "Mingxi, is Liu Wenhong really going to be fired?"

Mingxi turned to look at Qiao Aimei: "What, are you worried about her?"

Qiao Aimei pursed her lips: "It's not that I'm worried, it's just... it's just..."

She thought Liu Wenhong was bad and disliked her, but she still felt bad that Liu Wenhong was fired because of such a small matter.

Mingxi knew that Qiao Aimei was an honest person, so she wasn't surprised that she would think that way. She patted Qiao Aimei on the shoulder and said, "Don't worry, Director Shen definitely won't fire her for such a small thing."

It's often said that jobs these days are considered "iron rice bowls" because, in this era, bosses can't just fire people arbitrarily. Unless you've committed a serious offense—and by "serious offense" I don't mean a work-related error, but a legal one—and you haven't violated any regulations or rules, generally speaking, your boss can't fire you.

Liu Wenhong's act of taking advantage of others is immoral. If this gets out, countless people will condemn her for being shameless and never satisfied with taking advantage of others.

But to be honest, did she break the law?

She didn't break the law.

It's impossible for Director Shen to fire her.

Didn't you see that Shen Mo was labeled as morally corrupt and had improper thoughts by the factory? They only got punished and transferred, but weren't fired.

That's the power of a secure job.

Director Shen's earlier threat to fire Liu Wenhong was just a scare tactic; Liu Wenhong herself knew the truth.

She was only in a hurry to explain to Director Shen because she didn't want to offend him.

Hearing Mingxi say this, Qiao Aimei breathed a sigh of relief, feeling much more at ease.

Mingxi patted Qiao Aimei's head. This little girl is too honest and too easy to bully.

At this moment, Yu Xiaomin discovered the blind spot.

She looked at Mingxi and asked curiously, "By the way, when did our cafeteria start serving steamed buns in the morning? I went to the cafeteria today and they only had steamed bread."

There were no steamed buns available, so why did Liu Wenhong ask Qiao Aimei to go to the cafeteria to buy them?

Speaking of this, Mingxi chuckled: "There are no steamed buns, because I brought them from home."

Yu Xiaomin's eyes widened, her expression complex.

So Liu Wenhong lost face in front of so many colleagues because of a steamed bun that the cafeteria didn't have, and was scolded by Director Shen. She even had to write a self-criticism.

Mingxi blinked and spread her hands innocently: "It's not my fault. She didn't even ask me if I bought the buns from the cafeteria."

Yu Xiaomin couldn't help but burst into laughter.

Haha, Liu Wenhong deserved to have her career floundered this time!

Liu Wenhong also came out of Director Shen's office at this time.

Director Shen ignored her explanation and sternly told her to go back and write a proper self-criticism, which she would then present in the office the next morning before everyone started work.

Liu Wenhong's face darkened. Admitting her mistake was one thing, but making a self-criticism in front of everyone in the office was another.

A self-criticism is so embarrassing!

She reluctantly left Director Shen's private office, and that's when she heard Mingxi's words.

Her already ashen face turned completely black, like the bottom of a black pot, so black that even scrubbing with a steel wool pad couldn't clean it.

Damn it, Mingxi is so heartless, she didn't even tell her that the buns weren't bought from the cafeteria.

If she had known that the steamed buns weren't bought from the cafeteria, she wouldn't have forced Qiao Aimei to buy them, and none of this would have happened.

Mingxi did it on purpose!

Liu Wenhong, who thought herself clever, put her mind to work again. She believed that Mingxi had done it on purpose, and that it was all a scheme orchestrated by Mingxi and Qiao Aimei to frame her.

It has to be said that Liu Wenhong's imagination is really too wild.

If Xi did it on purpose, then there is indeed an element of intention involved, but to say that she conspired with Qiao Aimei to set a trap?

Liu Wenhong is still not quite qualified.

However tragic Liu Wenhong felt, and how much she hated Mingxi and Qiao Aimei, those two cunning and wicked women, she dared not say anything at this moment.

Without the annoying Liu Wenhong causing trouble, Mingxi and Yu Xiaomin's work went very smoothly for the rest of the day.

The Women's Federation just finished two large-scale events, and there's not much going on for a while. I'm also lucky today; there are no fights between husbands and wives or between mothers-in-law and daughters-in-law that require the Women's Federation's mediation.

Mingxi was able to slack off and do nothing, but she wasn't actually idle. Instead, she took the time to teach Qiao Aimei to read.

Wang Zhaodi, the wicked stepmother, was unwilling to send Qiao Aimei to school, and Qiao's biological father also didn't care about Qiao Aimei, saying he wouldn't send her to school and that was it.

So Qiao Aimei was actually a completely illiterate person who couldn't read a single word.

You can't do it if you don't know how to read.

To find a job in the city, you need at least a junior high school diploma.

Director Shen contacted the labor service company and said that once Qiao Aimei's injuries had healed and she was no longer in any trouble, she would go to the labor service company for training. After that, like Li Ying, the labor service company would arrange work for her.

Mingxi guessed that the job that the labor service company arranged for Qiao Aimei was probably the same as Li Ying's, most likely being introduced to the home of a retired professor or former leader as a nanny.

However, even a nanny needs to be literate; at least she should be able to write her own name.

What if I get scammed when I go out?

These past two days, Mingxi has been taking every opportunity to teach Qiao Aimei to read.

Qiao Aimei was intelligent and eager to learn. Although she had never been to school before, she could absorb everything Mingxi taught her.

Mingxi would teach her twenty characters a day, and then test her on those twenty characters the next day. If Qiao Aimei could answer them smoothly, she would pass. Then she would start learning new characters. If she couldn't answer them, she would fail and have to learn them again.

Qiao Aimei was able to answer the questions she had learned the day before every day, which allowed Mingxi to fully indulge his desire to teach.

Mingxi was happy teaching, and Qiao Aimei was happy learning.

She never imagined she could recognize so many words.

Just then, Qiao Aimei and Mingxi were happily learning to read when they heard someone calling from the doorway.

"Is Qiao Aimei here? Someone at the door said it's your father, he's here to see you."

Upon hearing this, Qiao Aimei's shoulders trembled, and she subconsciously shrank back.

Mingxi knew she was scared, so she patted her shoulder reassuringly and said, "Don't be afraid, we're all here."

Qiao Aimei's teeth were chattering, but when she heard Mingxi's words, she forced a smile and said, "Yes, I'm not afraid."

Mingxi didn't expose her. She stood up and said, "Come on, I'll go out with you and see what your dad is here for."

Qiao Aimei nodded and stood up together.

The two walked out together, followed by Yu Xiaomin, Sister Wang, Aunt Gong, and others who were eager to hear the news.

Of course, Yu Xiaomin and her group did not admit that they were good news.

They were just afraid that Qiao's father would bully Qiao Aimei, so they went out to support Qiao Aimei.

Finally, almost all the staff from the Women's Federation office came out. They all rushed to the main gate. Qiao Zhenjun, Qiao's father, was standing at the gate. When he saw so many people coming out in a rush, his face stiffened.

But when he saw Qiao Aimei walking in the middle, his eyes lit up.

He took two steps forward, grabbed Qiao Aimei's arm, and without saying a word, launched into a lecture.

"You think you're all grown up now and think you can do whatever you want? Your stepmother told me you were disobedient, and I didn't believe her. I never imagined that I'd only been away on a business trip for a few days and you'd cause such a huge mess. You even sent your stepmother to a detention center? Do you even know she's your stepmother, my wife, and your brother's mother? No matter how much you two have disagreements, she's still family. Can't you talk things out at home? If that doesn't work, wait for me to come back and let me handle it for you. Instead, you went and made a scene at my workplace, and the Women's Federation even saw it and called the police. Are you trying to make things difficult at home?"

Qiao Zhenjun launched into a tirade, then, before anyone could react, grabbed Qiao Aimei's arm and pulled her outside.

As he walked, he said, "Come with me to the police station now and tell the police that it's all a misunderstanding, that you're talking nonsense, that your stepmother didn't force you into marriage, and that they should release your stepmother."

Even though Mingxi already knew that Qiao Zhenjun was definitely not a good person, she couldn't help but widen her eyes upon hearing this.

What the hell is this?

Is this really his biological father?

She really wanted to drag Qiao Zhenjun and Qiao Aimei to the hospital for a paternity test to see if Qiao Aimei was her biological daughter.

Otherwise, it's really hard to understand what Qiao Zhenjun was thinking.

It is said that even a tiger wouldn't eat its cubs.

Qiao Aimei is Qiao Zhenjun's biological daughter, but when Qiao Zhenjun learned that Qiao Aimei was abused by Wang Zhaodi, locked at home and starved for five days, and almost forced to marry a mentally ill person, his first reaction was to blame Qiao Aimei, saying that she shouldn't have made a big fuss and should have waited for him to come back to handle it.

Doesn't Qiao Zhenjun want to laugh when he hears this?

If Qiao Aimei hadn't resisted, she would have already been married off to the Guo family by Wang Zhaodi and become the wife of Guo's foolish son.

If we had gone any faster, we might have caught up with Guo's stupid son having an attack, and Qiao Aimei would have been beaten to death by now.

Didn't Qiao Zhenjun think of these things?

No, he certainly could think of that, but in his eyes, the name of his biological daughter, Qiao Aimei, was not as important as whether Wang Zhaodi went to jail.

To be honest, that's really what Qiao Zhenjun thought.

Although Qiao Aimei was his biological daughter, she wasn't his only child; he also had a son born to Wang Zhaodi.

Compared to a son who can carry on the family line, provide for his parents in their old age, and even hold a funeral procession and break a basin for them after his death, Qiao Aimei's daughter is much less valuable.

Anyway, Qiao Aimei will get married sooner or later and become someone else's family member. She's a money-losing commodity, so it doesn't matter if she's a little casual.

His wife is still more important. She's the one he can spend his whole life with. He'll need her to take care of him when he gets old. Besides, she's his son's biological mother.

Qiao Zhenjun was shrewd. If Wang Zhaodi went to jail, not only would he be affected and gossiped about in the factory, but he and Wang Zhaodi's son would also be branded as relatives of a criminal.

Although we are no longer in an era where class background is the sole measure of success, there's no guarantee that his son won't be discriminated against because of it, and might not get into a good university or become a leader.

That would ruin all his hopes for the rest of his life!

Because of this, Qiao Zhenjun absolutely could not agree to Wang Zhaodi going to jail; he was determined to get Wang Zhaodi out.

Qiao Zhenjun then set his sights on Qiao Aimei.

He thought that Wang Zhaodi was detained in the detention center because of forced marriage, so as long as Qiao Aimei admitted that she was lying and that the matter of Wang Zhaodi forcing marriage did not exist, the Public Security Bureau would definitely have to release Qiao Aimei, right?

As for what consequences Qiao Aimei will face and how people will talk about her after she admits that she was talking nonsense.

He couldn't be bothered with that.

Qiao Zhenjun had a well-thought-out plan, but Qiao Aimei wouldn't cooperate with it.

Qiao Aimei pursed her lips, pulled her wrist away from Qiao Zhenjun's hand, and said firmly, "I'm not going!"

Qiao Zhenjun was furious. He raised his hand and said, "Hey, you brat, you dare disobey your father? Don't forget, I'm your father. If it weren't for me supporting you, you would have starved to death long ago."

He glared angrily at Qiao Aimei, his eyes wide and menacing: "Tell me again, are you going to the police station or not?"

Qiao Aimei's eyes reddened, tears welling up as if they were about to fall, but her attitude was firm: "I'm not going!"

"Fine!" Qiao Zhenjun: "You really are too arrogant and disobedient. You don't even have a shred of respect for your own father. Fine, then today I'll teach you a lesson, show you how to be disobedient, how to disrespect your parents, and how to be utterly disrespectful to your elders!"

As Qiao Zhenjun spoke, he raised his hand to strike, but at that moment, Mingxi stepped forward and grabbed Qiao Zhenjun's arm.

Qiao Zhenjun's arms were as thick as Mingxi's two arms. He was used to physical labor, and when he swung his arms, the veins on his arms bulged, clearly showing that he was using all his strength.

Even so, he still couldn't break free from Mingxi's slender wrist.

Qiao Zhenjun was angry for a moment, then angry again.

He stared intently at Mingxi, his eyes wide: "You!"

Mingxi: "What do you mean, 'what am I'? If you have eyes, take a good look at where you are. This is the Women's Federation, not a place where you can run wild!"

Qiao Zhenjun was disdainful. So what if it was the Women's Federation? In his mind, Women's Federation cadres were not proper cadres and could not do anything to him.

Mingxi could tell he was unconvinced, so she twisted her hand to restrain Qiao Zhenjun and said, "If I heard correctly, you were threatening Comrade Qiao Aimei to give a false confession in order to release Wang Zhaodi?"

She demanded sharply, "Do you know that giving a false statement is a crime?!"

Mingxi was very imposing, and when she shouted, Qiao Zhenjun subconsciously trembled.

Mingxi: "Giving a false confession is a crime. Threatening Comrade Qiao Aimei to give a false confession is also a crime. Based on this alone, I can send you to jail!"

Qiao Zhenjun was unconvinced and wanted to say, "Who are you trying to scare? He's not a three-year-old child who would be frightened by such words."

But his arm was twisted behind his back by Mingxi, and he couldn't struggle to break free. He could only be held down by Mingxi in a twisted position, looking extremely disheveled. He couldn't even speak and could only remain silent.

Mingxi wouldn't let him off the hook: "You think I'm joking with you? Humph, then wait until we get to the police station, and you'll see for yourself whether I'm joking or not!"

As she spoke, she waved her hand and asked the security guard at the gate for a rope.

The security personnel cooperated with Mingxi, quickly handing her a rope. She swiftly tied Qiao Zhenjun's arms behind his back, then pressed him down and took him to the nearby police station.

Qiao Aimei was still in a daze and hadn't reacted yet when Mingxi had already pushed Qiao Zhenjun and walked a distance away.

Yu Xiaomin was the first to react. She quickly lifted her foot and followed Mingxi's steps. Aunt Gong and Sister Zhang also joined in the fun. Sister Wang patted Qiao Aimei on the shoulder: "Don't be afraid. Mingxi is just taking your dad to the police station to scare him so he won't cause you trouble in the future. If you don't want to see him taken to the police station, then you can go back to the office first."

Regardless of the circumstances, Qiao Zhenjun is Qiao Aimei's biological father.

Moreover, Qiao Aimei is soft-hearted; it's perfectly normal that she couldn't bring herself to do it and didn't want to see her own father sent to the police station.

Sister Wang is older and more experienced, unlike Mingxi and Yu Xiaomin who are quick to anger. Even if Qiao Aimei doesn't want to send Qiao Zhenjun to the police station, she can understand.

Sister Wang had already prepared for Qiao Aimei to return to the office, but to her surprise, Qiao Aimei did not.

She was silent for a moment, then said, "I want to go and see."

Sister Wang was a little surprised, but she still nodded: "Okay."

The two of them walked side by side, catching up with the main group that had already gone far ahead.

In broad daylight, Mingxi was leading a man with his hands tied behind his back down the street, making him very conspicuous. Many passersby couldn't help but stop and watch.

Some curious onlookers, seeing Yu Xiaomin walking behind, couldn't help but ask, "Girl, what's going on here? What are you doing?"

Yu Xiaomin: "Auntie, this is a long story. To make it short, the woman in front of me is taking the man to the police station because he and his second wife abused the daughter left by his first wife. They even forced the daughter to marry a mentally challenged man. When the daughter refused, they almost killed her."

"My God! Is this still my biological father? This must be my stepfather!"

"Having a stepmother means having a stepfather!"

"That's incredibly cruel and malicious!"

Yu Xiaomin's loud voice quickly attracted many passersby. Mingxi, with her malicious intent, walked slowly. After walking for a while, Yu Xiaomin had been gossiping for quite some time, and Mingxi, with Qiao Zhenjun in tow, hadn't even gone ten meters.

Although Qiao Zhenjun's arms were tied, his ears were not plugged and his eyes were not blindfolded, so he could hear all the chatter around him.

He felt his vision go black and black again.

On the street, you see all sorts of people. As luck would have it, there was an acquaintance of Qiao Zhenjun in the crowd. When that person saw Qiao Zhenjun surrounded by the crowd, he immediately called out.

“I know this man. He’s from the textile factory’s transport team. We all know about how he and his new wife abused the daughter left behind by his first wife!”

"His firstborn daughter had a terrible life. She was bullied by his second wife from a young age, never having enough to eat or wear, and she didn't even have a place to live. The little girl was only three or four years old, not even as tall as the stove, yet her stepmother forced her to cook and wash clothes. If she didn't do something right, her stepmother would pick her up and beat her severely. Although Qiao Zhenjun was her biological father, he didn't care at all and just watched that woman beat his daughter. The little girl was covered in scars from a young age. Even in the summer when she wore short sleeves, her exposed arms were covered in scars, one after another, which was heartbreaking to look at..."

Upon hearing this, the onlookers on both sides became agitated, and their faces showed extreme anger.

I've seen vicious people, but I've never seen anyone this vicious.

Some of the more furious ones picked up rotten vegetable scraps that had been thrown on the ground by a vegetable stall and threw them at Qiao Zhenjun.

Surprisingly, the old lady threw it quite accurately, hitting Qiao Zhenjun right in the face. It was like a slap to the face, and his face turned red instantly.

Qiao Zhenjun's eyes were also bloodshot. He tried to look up to see who had thrown the rotten vegetable scraps at him, but before he could see clearly, another egg was thrown at him.

Mingxi: "Hey, hey, don't throw them around! Eggs are expensive, it's not worth it to hit people like that."

No sooner had she finished speaking than a shout came from afar: "It's nothing, I just threw a rotten egg!"

Mingxi: "Oh, the rotten egg is fine now."

At this moment, the egg had already hit Qiao Zhenjun's eye socket. The eggshell broke, and the spoiled egg liquid flowed out.

The egg liquid had been sitting there for who knows how long; it was completely rotten. The egg liquid was black, a dark greenish-black color, and as it flowed out, a foul odor instantly spread.

Mingxi covered her nose and immediately moved to the side.

What a joke! What if you get accidentally injured standing next to Qiao Zhenjun?

She doesn't want to get rotten eggs thrown at her!

Mingxi quickly dodged to the side. Seeing Mingxi leave, the passersby who had been somewhat restrained immediately let loose, throwing rotten vegetable scraps and rotten eggs at Qiao Zhenjun.

An elderly woman, who had been smashing the rotten vegetable scraps on the roadside, glanced around and spotted a manure scoop placed near the entrance of a public toilet. Her eyes lit up instantly.

This is good stuff!

She strode quickly toward the public restroom.

Mingxi, with her sharp eyes, spotted the direction the older woman was heading and immediately recognized her target. Her pupils dilated in shock.

No, what if this doesn't work?

If a manure ladle gets covered in excrement, whoever it touches will die.

Although she stabbed Qiao Zhenjun, she still had to take him to the police station later.

It's best not to cause any trouble for the police officers.

Mingxi quickly stepped forward and hugged the woman around the waist: "Auntie, calm down! We don't need such a powerful weapon!"

Mingxi spent a long time trying to persuade her before she finally stopped the old woman.

She let out a long breath. Seeing that Qiao Zhenjun had been taught a lesson and was covered in a mess, looking like a lump of mud, completely listless, Mingxi felt that was enough and continued to escort Qiao Zhenjun to the police station.

Of course, Yu Xiaomin didn't stop there. As she walked with Mingxi to the police station, she kept telling him about Qiao Zhenjun's "great achievements".

And so, Qiao Zhenjun was pointed at and whispered about all the way until he finally arrived at the police station.

When he walked into the police station, Qiao Zhenjun even breathed a sigh of relief, feeling that he was finally free.

But will things go as he wishes?

Of course not.

Qiao Zhenjun was led into the interrogation room. The room was small and windowless, so even in broad daylight, it was dark except for a low-wattage overhead light. The dim light was ineffective in such a small room, barely enough to make out the general layout of the furnishings.

In fact, there was not much furniture in the interrogation room, except for a long table in the middle, and a stool on one side of the table, which was the stool that Qiao Zhenjun was sitting on. The stool had armrests on both sides, but handcuffs were still hanging on the armrests.

Although Qiao Zhenjun wasn't handcuffed by the police, he still felt frightened by the cold, gleaming handcuffs.

Qiao Zhenjun shrank his neck and looked at the other side, which was the other side of the long table.

On the other side were two stools, just ordinary stools with backs, which seemed to be reserved for the police officers.

Apart from that, there was nothing else in the interrogation room.

Qiao Zhenjun scanned the room but didn't see anything else unusual. If he had to say, the only thing he saw was the eight large characters painted in red on the white wall opposite: "Confess and you will be treated leniently; resist and you will be punished severely."

The bright red paint looked strangely eerie under the dim yellow light.

As Qiao Zhenjun read on, he couldn't help but shudder.

He gritted his teeth and cursed inwardly. Those damned women's federation people actually dared to send him to the police station. After cursing the women's federation people, he couldn't help but curse the police officers at the police station.

When the police saw the Women's Federation representative arrive, they didn't ask what was going on and just locked him in the interrogation room. Half a day has passed and no one has come to ask what happened.

What do they mean? Do they just want to ignore him and keep him locked up like this?

The interrogation room had no windows, so there was no view outside. There was no clock, and no one else in the room to talk to. This feeling of being forgotten by the world, of being all alone in the entire space and universe, was unbearable. Qiao Zhenjun was alone inside, and after a while, he couldn't take it anymore and started shouting.

"Where is everyone? Is anyone here? Nobody's coming out to say anything? Aren't you the police? Aren't you here to interrogate me? Come here, interrogate me!"

He would rather have a police officer come out and interrogate him fiercely than stay here alone.

Seeing that Qiao Zhenjun's shouts were getting louder and louder, and he was becoming more and more desperate, Li Gong'an outside looked at Mingxi and asked, "How about that, is that enough?"

Mingxi glanced at the time and said, "Let him wait five more minutes."

Officer Li: "In five minutes, I'm afraid he won't be able to take it and will break the window and come out."

Mingxi pouted: "It's only been a short time, less than twenty minutes."

Mingxi brought Qiao Zhenjun to the police station today on purpose to scare him, and leaving him alone in the interrogation room was also intentional.

Those who frequently visit police stations know that the most grueling part of the experience isn't the endless, relentless interrogation.

Instead, locking the other person alone in an interrogation room creates a time vacuum that is the most agonizing.

Police Officer Li knew that Qiao Zhenjun was Qiao Aimei's ruthless and vicious father, who was not her stepfather but was just as cruel. So he cooperated with Mingxi to lock Qiao Zhenjun in the interrogation room and make him suffer.

Officer Li was quite cooperative with Mingxi.

Mingxi said five minutes, and he waited five minutes before pushing open the interrogation room door.

At this point, Qiao Zhenjun broke down and cried, unable to bear it any longer.
