Chapter 45: Getting the Wrong Star Script
"Cut!" the director gave the order and made the decision.
"Congratulations to Teacher Ji on finishing the film—"
"Wow, congratulations, Teacher Ji!"
No matter what the truth is about the incident that happened after Ji Shian came, one thing is undeniable: these two people are not easy to deal with.
Those who were originally arrogant and relied on their powerful background, or those who wanted to win Ji Dongran's favor and soar to the top, all restrained themselves a little and offered their blessings with a shameless face.
The director watched the replay excitedly, "Thank goodness, Yuki-sensei, he single-handedly elevated the tone of the entire show!"
Ji Shian, who was walking with his things on his back, was alert. What's wrong with this director?
Ji Dongran responded quickly: "Don't put me down. There are so many talented kids in the group. Any one of them could be a key player."
Director Shen reacted as soon as he said that, wiped his face and said embarrassedly: "Yes, yes, you are right. We finished the work so early today, how about I treat us all to a meal?"
He glanced around the crew and waved his hand, "Anyone who wants to go can go, and anyone who doesn't want to go is free to do what they want!"
No matter what minor frictions there were, everyone cheered in unison and cleaned up the mess more efficiently.
Ji Dongran apologized, "I have plans early today. If you guys have fun, it's all on me."
When Director Shen heard it said so bluntly, he also blamed him for not having said it in advance, so he nodded and said, "Okay."
The assistant director heard this and rushed over. His voice was so loud that even a megaphone wouldn't be needed. "If Teacher Ji isn't here, what's the point of us all getting together?"
Ji Shi'an was standing behind Ji Dongran and heard everything. He stared blankly at the first and second female characters in front of him who had not left yet. He coughed a few times and hinted with his eyes when the other party looked at him.
The assistant director glanced at it, completely unconcerned and extraordinarily carefree, "Oh, it's okay, they never participate because they think we're too noisy."
I don’t know about it when we were eating, but you’re really annoying now.
Ji Shian and Ji Dongran smiled stiffly, laughed, and slipped back to the hotel.
As soon as he stepped into the hotel, Ji Shian leaned to his side, raised his hand to cover his mouth, frowned slightly, and pretended to cough. The words he had been holding back all the way suddenly came out, "Ahem, no wonder the atmosphere on the set was so weird when I first arrived yesterday, ahem."
From the makeup artist to the director and assistant director, no one was smooth-talking. It would be strange if the crew could be harmonious.
Ji Dongran looked calm and composed, having seen many storms before, and nodded silently in agreement.
She sent a message to Qin Yucheng just after finishing filming. Qin Yucheng had been so busy recently that he almost lived in the company. He finally had the opportunity to spend time with his wife, so he skipped half a day and waited for his wife to get off work with his hands behind his back.
Ji Dongran smiled, "Are you staying in the hotel tonight, or going out to play?"
The option of following the crew to eat was automatically ruled out.
Being asked suddenly, Ji Shian's heart tightened. He pinched his earlobe with his fingers and tilted his head slightly: "Go back to the room to pack up, and then go out to play." Go out to play with Qin Yinghuai.
Ji Dongran didn't ask any more questions, but just laughed even more happily, "Hehehe~"
Ji Shian's eyelids jumped, and he tugged at the corner of her clothes to remind her that this was not an uninhabited area, and the front desk had already looked over!
Because they arrived suddenly, were the last to arrive, and left the earliest, the crew arranged for them to stay on the same floor. The only difference was that they were a bit far apart, one at the eastern end and the other at the western end.
Complaining about the seemingly distant yet near arrangement, Ji Shian pulled out her room card and swiped it, while holding her phone in her other hand to send a message to Qin Yinghuai. After swiping several times without hearing a single "beep," she looked up.
Oh, I took it as a business card by mistake.
He twirled his fingers back into his pocket and fished around. He took it out and saw, hey, it was a business card.
Ji Shian sighed and simply took out all the cards in his pocket.
"Ding ding", the door lock flashed green, the flawless white wrist pressed down, and the door opened with a click.
The curtains in the room were closed and the lights were dim. She was slightly startled and sniffed subconsciously. The fruity and spicy aromas mixed together and were wrapped in the rich aroma of wine.
Ji Shian’s first reaction: Who broke the red wine bottle?
Ji Shian’s second reaction: Why is her room so dark?
Before she could even react, she heard rustling sounds from inside the house, followed by stumbling steps. A tall figure, his shirt hanging loosely from his shoulders, walked towards her.
The corridor was brightly lit and the elevator dinged in the distance. Ji Shian swallowed hard and his scalp tingled when he saw the other person's appearance.
The man walked towards the door with his face sideways in an awkward posture. The collar of his shirt was wet with wine, his black pants were pulled up high to reveal his skinny ankles, and his bare feet stepped on the floor, staggering all the way.
Ji Shian looked at the house number with horror: This is definitely her room!
She took several steps back, her fair neck tense, her back pressed against the wall for a sense of security.
There were footsteps coming from the corridor, and it sounded like a large crowd was attacking. Ji Shian's eyes became fierce and she was about to take the initiative, but she heard the man was faster than her, but his voice was very low as if he didn't want to be discovered.
"Miss Ji, can you help me, please..." The voice was mournful and broken, as if the owner had suffered a lot of grievances and hardships.
After hearing the name, Ji Shian paused slightly, and the look he gave him changed. It turned out that this little star hadn't climbed to the wrong spot, but was coming for her.
Since this is the case, it’s not a good idea to make a big deal out of it. Ji Shian racked his brains to think of a solution. His pocket vibrated slightly. It should be Qin Yinghuai’s reply.
When she thought of Qin Yinghuai, her mind went blank for a moment. If someone saw her like this, she would probably have to perform a medical miracle for everyone in Yun City.
The man listened to the approaching footsteps not far away, a look of urgency on his face, and reached out to pull her. Ji Shian dodged nimbly to the side, but his back hit something too quickly.
"That's great, Shi An, you haven't left yet!" The happy voice of makeup artist apprentice Ye Zi sounded from behind.
Ji Shi'an breathed a sigh of relief, imperceptibly: Okay, as long as Qin Yinghuai is not behind her, she'll be fine.
He was thankful that reality wasn't a TV show after all, and that such a classic scene couldn't just happen. Ji Shian regained his composure. Behind Ye Zi were familiar faces from the crew. He tilted his head and asked, "Sorry, I wasn't looking where I was going. How did you get here?"
Ye Zi waved his hand, "Aren't you here to see you off for the last time?"
The familiar choice of words and sentences made Ji Shian feel at ease for a second. Then he heard the other party look at the wide-open door curiously: "Is today the day we rise?"
Ji Shian didn't react: "What?"
A young assistant behind Ye Zi blushed and screamed silently, excitedly saying, "Finally, a star assistant has a role in this script of knocking on doors in exchange for resources!"
Another young stagehand nodded excitedly, "Yes, yes, this is truly a milestone."
Ji Shian's lips trembled, thinking that they were indeed here to see her off for the last time. So many people didn't care about her life or death.
The man at the center of the conversation was pale, his fingers clasped tightly against the door frame, and he looked panicked. Thinking of the instructions given by his boss, he turned his face straight towards Ji Shian.
Ye Zi asked a soul-searching question: "Is his profile the best looking? Is he trying to seduce you with that?"
Ji Shian was so confused at the time that he didn't bother to look closely. He glanced up at the man and paused. He didn't know if it was an illusion, but he felt that he looked familiar.
The assistant with the bun was calmer: "Let's contact security first."
"Oh, yes, yes, then should we contact the director and the others?"
"Director Shen should have arrived at the hotel. He probably doesn't have time to care about us little shrimps."
Several people were discussing how to deal with the situation. Ji Shian was watching the man's face turn blue and red at ease. Suddenly, someone grabbed her arm, and she stumbled.
Assistants: “Wow—”
Ji Shian slowly lowered her head and looked down at her feet. Exquisitely designed business cards were scattered all over the floor. They were colorful and made her look like a flyer distributor.
The culprit, Ye Zi, squatted down to help her pick it up. He inevitably saw the words on the top, and his mouth always spoke faster than his brain: "Qicheng Electronic Technology Manufacturing Company."
Ji Shian quickly snatched it back, and amidst everyone's hesitant gazes, he explained, "It's just a personal hobby, collecting business cards and stamps."
"You're amazing, you actually have the means to get the business cards of so many different company CEOs." Ye Zi was surprised and admired him honestly, "And they're not from the same industry."
Someone reacted and nudged her with their elbow. Ye Zi suddenly realized she had said something wrong again and quickly made amends: "Those who are not in the industry are also very powerful. Qicheng Technology seems to be very famous. If I remember correctly, it should be in the top 500 in the world..."
It seemed even more wrong. The business card of the CEO of a company that was ranked among the best in the world, where did Ji Shian, a star assistant, come from?
Ye Zi asked bluntly, "Is it illegal to counterfeit business cards?"
Everyone's gaze shifted. Ji Shian read them one by one, confirming that everyone had a different script in mind. She gathered the business cards neatly and used magic to defeat the magic: "It's all real, just a little bit of Jiangshan."
Everyone's eyes lit up: "Oh!"
Ye Zi handed her the last business card: "Then keep it well, or your kingdom will be shattered."
Ji Shian took it and was about to put it back in her pocket when she saw a bony hand come into view. It pinched her wrist and took away the neatly arranged business card.
Ye Zi subconsciously announced: "Look, the kingdom has changed hands!"
Ji Shian didn't bother to confront her. She looked up in surprise and met a deep gaze. At that moment, she seemed to see the seabed shaking violently, with waves surging but then being firmly suppressed.
The weather forecast plays automatically in my mind.
Her voice was flattering: "Why did you come up here?" What did you see? It should be nothing... You saw everything. The TV show was based on reality and it wasn't a lie.
Qin Yinghuai lowered his hat to block the prying eyes of those around him, and said calmly: "I got a free ride."
Ji Shian leaned in to take a closer look, and heard the man standing nearby, unwilling to be lonely, say, "Miss Ji... please help me, I can do anything, please..."
Ji Shian’s pupils trembled: Why are you still waiting there?
She huddled behind Qin Yinghuai and poked him with her finger. "Now that you're here, don't rest. Go ahead, Pikahuai."
Qin Yinghuai pinched her fingers with his backhand and looked up casually, the oppressive feeling of a superior not diminishing at all.
The man, who was gritting his teeth and secretly anxious, met the gaze that was like the abyss. He was immediately nailed to the spot, and his whole body felt like falling into an ice cellar. He subconsciously asked for help from the mission target: "Miss Ji!"
Although Ye Zi didn't quite understand what was going on, he once again performed exceptionally well and addressed the confusion of the onlookers: "Did you recognize the wrong person? Shi An's last name is Shi?"
