Chapter 84 Assassination - 2 Wu Chen and the others left in the middle of the night. No…

Wu Chen and his companions left in the middle of the night. Without using their spiritual power, they scaled windows and walls, leaving the inn silently. After traveling some distance, they flew on their swords and entered the mountains. When the sun rose, they hid in a dense forest to rest.

Yu Jitang was seething with anger, so he hunted two rabbits and roasted them over a fire.

Looking at the rising smoke, Wu Chen couldn't help but sigh, "If someone is following us, they'll spot us immediately. This whole night will have been a waste."

Yu Jitang gritted his teeth and said, "I'm bursting with anger. If anyone dares to come, I'll roast them along with this rabbit."

Qi Ying sat down to the side, sword in hand. "My lord, why don't we lure these people out? I also want to know who they are, with such audacity." Daring to intercept and kill two divine servants, no less! Are these people tired of living?

While cautiously surveying their surroundings, Wu Chen whispered, "Since these people are determined to attack us, they will follow us even if we don't seek them out. We should arrest them if we can, but our priority should be getting on our way. There must be a reason why they dare to be so brazen."

Lu Qing squatted to the side, intently watching the two sizzling rabbits, not paying much attention to their discussion. "How about I send a little demon to inform my sister, so she can send some assistants? That way, no matter how many assassins come, we won't have to worry."

Wu Chen gave a wry smile. The current situation was already chaotic enough. If Qi Wu came, it would likely turn the already muddy waters into a raging storm. It was better to let her stay in the Western Wilderness. "This is only the beginning. How can we reveal our trump cards now? We can ask Madam Luo for help when things really come to that."

Lu Qing thought for a moment, "That's true. There was a commotion in the Western Wilderness, and my sister was the only one who stole the show. I didn't even get a chance to show my face. It's a real pity that I missed the opportunity to make a name for myself." She rested her chin on her hand with some regret.

Yu Jitang retorted, "Give me a break. With your skills, you'd struggle even against ordinary monsters. Everyone who was still standing that day was incredibly powerful. If you showed your face, you'd only get beaten up."

Lu Qing glared at him. "I cultivate very quickly. Don't underestimate me."

Yu Jitang scoffed and continued to rummage through his rabbit. "If you ask me, you should help me find some wild grass, wild fruit, or rock salt around here to add some flavor to this rabbit..." Before he could finish speaking, a sharp sword aura swept towards his brow.

Yu Jitang dodged backward, "You attacked me after only a few words..." He thought Lu Qing was angry and embarrassed, but when he looked, he saw that Lu Qing and Wu Chen had also been ambushed.

Lu Qing shouted, "It's all your fault, that rabbit! Look, it's been caught up with!"

Forget about the rabbit now. Yu Jitang grabbed his sword and jumped up, engaging his attackers in combat. The one who had ambushed him was the vanguard, and several more quickly surrounded him. These men might not be a match for him in a one-on-one fight, but they formed a sword formation, trapping Yu Jitang in the center. Yu Jitang stopped cursing and revealed his true skill. With a single strike, two men were unable to retreat and were wounded in the arm, blood spurting out. Seeing that they could no longer wield their swords, the remaining attackers immediately closed in, preventing Yu Jitang from advancing any further.

Yu Jitang sensed something was wrong; if this relentless attack continued, they might not be able to escape. He glanced at Wu Chen. Wu Chen was holding Lu Qing with one hand and a sword in the other. Qi Ying was with them; the three of them stood side by side, attacking outwards, but they were surrounded by even more people.

In that moment of distraction, the men besieging Yu Jitang opened a pill in their hands, and the pill emitted a pungent smell when it was exposed to the wind.

Yu Jitang held his breath, but it was too late. His vision went black and he collapsed.

Lu Qing scoffed. "Such tactic dares to use in front of me?" Without a word, she pulled something from her sleeve and threw it. Her men, startled by her action, quickly retreated.

Wu Chen immediately went over and grabbed Yu Jitang, then threw him to Qi Ying.

After those people backed away, they found that the thing Lu Qing had thrown out made no sound. They immediately realized that Lu Qing had just scared them, and they immediately drew their swords and surrounded them again.

Lu Qing chuckled, flipped his hands, and sent two more objects flying. This time, the people refused to be fooled and continued to rush forward. But when a faint wisp of smoke spread out, their legs went weak, and they felt their spiritual energy leaking out of their skin like a tidal wave, causing them to collapse uncontrollably.

One of them, at the very back, immediately raised his hand towards the sky. He had some kind of mechanism hidden in his sleeve; a signal shot into the air, accompanied by a conspicuous yellow plume of smoke, making it exceptionally clear in the forest.

With a few swift sword strikes, Wu Chen severed the meridians of all the attackers. He then grabbed Lu Qing and called to Qi Ying, "Quick, let's go!"

Lu Qing quickly grabbed the branch with the rabbits on it, "They're already cooked, don't waste them."

Wu Chen and Qi Ying were both amused and exasperated, but they could only let her carry the string of rabbits in her hands.

Not long after they left, someone caught up with them and arrived at their previous hideout. They found many of their men collapsed on the ground, unable to speak. All of them had their meridians severed; although their lives weren't in danger, their cultivation had been completely destroyed. To continue cultivating, they would likely have to go through a great deal of trouble to find medical treatment. The person who arrived later glanced at them and asked, "Which way did they go?"

The person who gave the signal turned their eyes and gestured in a direction with their gaze.

The person who came later sighed, gave him a pill, and said, "Good luck to you all."

After saying that, he ignored the people on the ground, sent several more signals into the sky, and led his men to chase after them.

Soon, several groups of people gathered at this spot and gave chase.

When Yu Jitang woke up again, he saw Lu Qing, who was walking through the woods with a ruler over his eyes, winking at him. "How do I feel?"

How was it?

Yu Jitang then realized he was lying on Wu Chen's back. He shook his head, remembering how he had been ambushed, especially after he had mocked Lu Qing. Lu Qing was fine, but he was the one who had collapsed. Ugh, how embarrassing.

"Hey, hey, you're awake, why don't you get down and walk yourself? You're lying on my spot, he's mine now." Seeing that he seemed to want to bury his face in Wu Chen's back, Lu Qing didn't care whether he felt ashamed or not, and unceremoniously pulled him down.

Wu Chen was amused by Lu Qing and turned around with a smile, "Let him catch his breath, we haven't shaken him off yet."

Lu Qing snorted, then casually took out a few more pills, cracked them open with her fingers, and dropped one down at intervals. These pills were different from the ones she had used before; the gas they emitted was colorless and odorless.

Those who followed didn't notice at first, but soon, like dumplings being dropped into a pot, one after another, they fell from mid-air.

Hearing the noise, Yu Jitang turned around and could even see the resentful look in the eyes of the pursuer closest to him. "What did you use?" he asked, very curious.

Lu Qing chuckled, revealing a gentle smile quite similar to Qi Wu's. "I'll let you try it another day."

Yu Jitang immediately patted Wu Chen on the shoulder and said, "Thank you, you can come down now."

Those who were hot on their heels were all lying on the ground. This time, Wu Chen didn't need to lift a finger; Qi Ying went over and dealt with the ones in front. Lu Qing's eyes darted around, and she reached into the sleeves of those men, finding a small dart inside. She fired one of the darts to the side. In the distance, someone immediately mounted their sword and chased after them in the direction the signal indicated.

Lu Qing directly removed the weapons from him and the others behind him, throwing them into his spirit pouch. Of course, he also removed their spirit pouches and weapons.

"Should we take one away for interrogation?" Lu Qing asked Wu Chen.

Wu Chen glanced back and said, "It's too late. There are too many people chasing us. Carrying them is too much of a burden. Let's go quickly."

The four flew on their swords, heading deep into the dense forest. Along the way, Lu Qing set up two more traps on the ground. A moment later, the traps shot haphazardly into the sky, instantly disorienting the pursuers.

Wu Chen and his group took the opportunity to go deep into the mountains.
