Chapter 21 A chaotic and terrible day

Chapter 21 A chaotic and terrible day

The sky is falling.

What should I do if my dad thinks I have a crush on my mom?

Elvira's expression broke. She looked at Claude's face, wanting to say something but stopping herself.

Finally she said dryly, "I think you misunderstood. I don't have such thoughts about your fiancée."

Claude said, "I'm so sorry, Miss Elvira, I find it hard to believe what you're saying. From your behavior, it seems you have a lot of affection for my fiancée."

Avella was shocked: “Is it so obvious…No, that’s not what I meant!”

Claude had an expression that said, "I'll listen to your excuses."

"What I mean is that I treat Anna as my real sister. I have never had a sister since I was a child, and I really hope to have a sister like Anna." The more Elvira explained, the more she felt that her words were pale and powerless.

She couldn't control herself when she first approached Anna. After being reserved for a few moments, she immediately became passionate and unrestrained. From an ordinary person's perspective, it is hard not to have other intentions.

From her father Claude's unconventional perspective, this was essentially competing with him for his fiancée.

"I don't believe it." Claude said the coldest words.

"How can you be like this! It's totally unreasonable!" Elvira finally understood that the person in front of her was a stubborn person, not her mature and steady father.

She glared at Claude fiercely, then did what she had always wanted to do but dared not do - she stepped hard on Claude.

Then he ran away, leaving Claude hopping on the spot.

Ahahahahahahaha it feels so good haha ...

Compared to the setbacks Elvira suffered, a more severe test was waiting for Darian.

He has to get up, have breakfast quickly and then go to open the shop.

"Dear master, since you went to bed a little late last night, I have delayed waking you up today. But it is very late now." Sewell took out his pocket watch from his inside pocket.

Darien rolled up the quilt to cover his head and didn't want to pay any attention to him.

"Mrs. Fitch made a cherry gratin and a bacon and egg pancake," said Sewell.

There was a gap in the quilt.

Twenty minutes later, Mr. Wizard sat down at the dining table.

The sweet aroma of food wafted from the table, while the crunching sound of gnawing bones could be heard from under the table.

Pluto had been given a beef shank bone and two potatoes for breakfast, and was now gnawing and licking the bone.

Darien wondered if eating normal food would leave grease stains or vomit on the pages of the magic book, but Pluto seemed to be enjoying his meal like a real puppy.

"Where's Leon?" Darien finally remembered that he still had a clock.

Lyon hasn't been seen since arriving here.

"He had a fight with Mrs. Fitch yesterday," said Kenneth, who watched the whole thing.

"What happened? Why did they quarrel? Seville, why didn't you tell me?" said Darien.

"My dear master, I was with you all day yesterday," said Sewell.

"After Leon became a human, he still stuck to his eating habits and only drank pine oil for his three meals a day. But you know, the smell of pine oil is really bad, so Mrs. Fitch suggested that he use butter or olive oil instead, which has the same lubricating effect. Leon disagreed, and then they had a fight." Kenneth said.

"Mrs. Fitch said that Leon was a stupid piece of wood who stuck to the old ways. Now that he had become a human being, he should enjoy the happiness of being a human being. But Leon refused sternly. He thought that the cooking oil would attract ants." Jenny Pig added.

Darien was silent.

After a long while he said, "I hope Leon and I won't be at the same table. Everything else is up to you."

Sewell said, "Well, my lord, the picnic basket is packed and ready to go."

Darien nodded and began to concentrate on breakfast.

Now that she lives outside, she can shop a lot, and the dishes Mrs. Fitch cooks have become much richer in both taste and texture.

The bacon and egg pancake was burnt to perfection, the chopped bacon was crispy, the spread eggs had a greasy skirt, and a little fennel root was added. Although it smelled a bit strange, it tasted sweet.

The cherry baked pudding was studded with large, whole cherries. Mrs. Fitch didn't pickle them with sugar, so the large cherries were sweet enough on their own, and they blended purple-red in the smooth pudding.

After a satisfying breakfast, they returned to the cellar hole and jumped down to the underground market.

There are fewer people in the market.

Due to a sudden thunderstorm, several entrances and exits to the royal city's sewers were out of service, and water began to drip down the streets of the underground market, so everyone simply closed their businesses.

Darien spent half the morning bored in the store, and Seville played poker and noble chess with him. He used gem dust as stakes and won a whole bottle.

"Stop feeding me cards, Seville, your acting is really poor." Darien said.

"I didn't." Sewell smiled and shook his head.

In fact, he really did.

The bell rang and the door was pushed open.

"Can you... help me get rid of the curse?" The guest who came in from outside clutched his robe tightly.

It was a bit damp outside, and the door brought in a lot of moisture as soon as it was opened. The edge of the guest's robe was also wet, and it dripped onto the floor.

"Of course, would it be convenient for me to take a look first?" Darien said.

"Sure." The guest untied her outer robe.

She should be a young woman.

Why use the word "should" to describe it? Because Darien could only tell from her voice that beneath her robe was a bloated body covered with red burn scars, and her head was swollen, with her lower and upper jaws elongated like a dog's muzzle.

She was also very uncomfortable with this appearance and quickly pulled the hood of her outer robe up.

"Can you describe what happened to you?" Darien couldn't determine what kind of curse it was just by observation.

"My name is Tina. I'm a dancer in a bar in downtown. I accidentally witnessed something terrible and ran away, but my body started changing since that day." Tina's voice trembled a little.

She is not a pure human, but a hybrid of human and werewolf. Because her bloodline is not pure, she cannot completely transform her body into a werewolf form, but she can grow a tail and ears. In addition, her hot body makes her very popular on stage.

One night half a month ago, she had just come down from the stage and went to the alley in the back street to get some fresh air.

There was a small corner in the back alley of the tavern where she secretly hid fine wine spiked with wolfsbane, which would make the body excited after drinking a little.

When she turned out of the alley after secretly drinking the wine, her sensitive sense of smell allowed her to smell the strong smell of blood and alcohol.

There was also a strange chewing sound, crunch, crunch, crunch.

She should have turned and run, but people are always curious.

Such curiosity and the excitement caused by wolfsbane wine drove her to take a step forward and take a look.

The horse-drawn carriage that usually delivered wine to the tavern was stuck in the alley. The horse was gone, several wine bottles were broken on the ground, and a figure was with his back to her, gnawing on half of the groom's body.

"Help... Help..." The groom's voice was as weak as a candle about to go out.

The belated fear finally overwhelmed her, and she stifled her scream in her throat and ran away.

The crunching stopped and she was discovered!

The thing caught up with her and bit her hard. The fear of death stimulated the potential of her body. Her body expanded rapidly and transformed into a werewolf, fighting with the thing behind her.

Her memory of what happened afterwards was a little blurry. She bit and ripped herself open instinctively, and finally struggled to escape.

She couldn't change back, nor did she dare to go back. She was able to come here relying on her familiarity with the underground city and some tips on her.

"I don't know what that thing is. I didn't see it clearly. It looked like a person. The clothes on it looked familiar. I seemed to have seen it somewhere... but I can't remember it at all!" Tina held her head and beat herself.

"It's probably not a curse on you. You just mentioned that it bit you." Darien said.

"Yes, that's right. It wasn't just one bite. I was bitten several times while struggling to break free. That monster seems to have been eating people in the downtown area. I heard the patrolmen say that they found more mutilated bodies." Tina said.

"Sevier, go get my herbal catalog so I can check it," said Darien.

"I can still be saved, right? I don't want to be like this. I'm too scary." Tina pulled the hood tighter.

"Don't worry, I will help you return to normal. Everything you have experienced is just a nightmare, and this nightmare can also become hazy. This is my gift to you." Darien said.

"How much should I pay you?" Tina nodded.

"One gold coin and the recipe for wolfsbane wine, that's a fair price," said Darien.

"Oh, that's true." As a popular dancer, one gold coin is just a small thing for Tina.

But she didn't quite understand why Darien needed the recipe for wolfsbane wine.

"Turn to page 285, I remember it was on this page," Darien said to Sevier.

The pages of the book flipped open, turning to a page with a picture of a werewolf and a curved flower.

It records the symptoms of werewolves losing their hair and having difficulty changing their form.

The saliva of a humanoid, hyena-headed monster called the Kalarite will destroy the werewolf's physical transformation, and the antidote requires the blood of this monster.

Other auxiliary materials are available in the store, so it seems I need to go out.

And they have to set off as early as possible. After eating human flesh, the Kalerit will change into the human form of the person it has eaten. The more people it eats, the more fragrant its body will be. This kind of fragrance that only humans can smell will confuse people's minds, and they will not notice anything unusual even if half of their body is eaten.

"Ms. Tina, I will temporarily prepare a buffer potion for you. After drinking it, you can temporarily restore your human form, but the effect will not last long and can only be used once. You have to use your sensitive sense of smell to find the Kalerit." Darien said.

"No problem, I remember how it smelled, it smelled like a rotten orange." Tina sniffed.

Darien prepared two potions, one to take with him to add blood, and the other to give to Tina to drink first.

Tina's body didn't change after drinking the potion. She touched her face and panicked: "Am I hopeless? I'm still like this and there's no way I can change back."

Darien said, "We should wait a little longer. How does it feel after drinking it?"

Tina said, "There doesn't seem to be any particular changes...Ah! I feel like there's a fire burning in my stomach!"

Darien said, "That means it's working. Your body is slowly recovering. Let's go and set off immediately to find the Kalerite before this fire goes out."

With Darien's tacit consent, Seville took a few magic bottles from the potion shelf and wanted to blow up the Kalerit directly if necessary. They didn't want to be bitten by this monster.

Since they were going to the downtown area, they couldn't follow the same route they came from, they had to follow Tina.

"We have to go this way." Tina looked at Darien and Seville. "Do you mind getting wet in the rain? It's a bit dirty in there. I came in from a sewer in the lower city."

mind.

I mind very much.

Darien's face, hidden under the hood, immediately showed a painful expression.

"Don't mind, let's walk faster." He said hypocritically.

Seville silently recalled some spells that could be used in his mind.

For example, small-scale water avoidance and cleansing magic.

They hurried through the streets of the underground bazaar, turned into a dark alley, stepped on the gurgling water, and then walked up.

After stepping over countless puddles, dodging the water splashing down from overhead, and pushing open a manhole cover, they finally arrived at the ground level of the underground city.

Compared to underground, it's not much better here.

The rain was still falling, and the ground in the downtown area was uneven. Mud and water mixed with some rotten garbage of unknown origin flowed everywhere along the cracks in the tiles.

"Come this way with me. I know a shortcut," said Tina.

She bent down and crawled into a hole in the wall that was blocked by debris.

Darien wanted to end the battle quickly, so he pinched his nose and followed quickly.

By the time they reached the back alley of the tavern after twists and turns, the drizzling rain had stopped.

"Ms. Tina, can you still smell the Kalerit? Is it nearby?" Darien asked.

"It's here. I originally wanted to take you to see where the groom fell, but the closer I got, the stronger the smell became. The tavern is simply a cemetery of rotten oranges. The smell is too pungent." Tina pinched her nose.

Then she was surprised to find that her face had returned to normal!

"Great! I'm back!" Tina held her face and laughed and danced in the alley.

"Should we go straight in through the back door?" Darien asked.

"Okay, I'll take you in secretly. I know where the boss hides all the good wine. I can treat you to a drink!" Tina pulled off her robe, revealing the wild and hot girl inside.

"Thank you. When we catch that Kalerit, we'll definitely have a nice drink in the wine cellar," said Darien.

"Please, Miss Tina," said Sevier.

"I remember there's a pair of tongs here. I need to grab some handy weapon," said Tina.

It was just past lunch time, and there weren't many drunkards drinking in the pub in broad daylight. The bartender was very lazy and didn't notice that Tina had sneaked upstairs with them.

"It's almost here." Tina held her breath. "I feel like the smell of rotten oranges here is about to make me vomit. This is the only way to go. I can't tell it apart."

They went up to the third floor, which was a storage room and the dancers' rest and changing rooms. If Tina couldn't smell anything, she could only look at each room one by one.

Darien pulled his hood tighter, "Go open the door."

This was said to Seville.

Sewell nodded and opened the door of the utility room first.

Tina followed behind the two of them, holding a pair of tongs and looking alert.

"There's nothing special inside, just some tables and chairs piled together. Is there a secret space here?" Seville asked.

"Let me see. As far as I know, there isn't any. Tsk, this place is still so messy. Jack's wages should be deducted." Tina leaned over to take a look.

That only left the dancers' dressing rooms.

Sewell walked over, grabbed the door handle, pushed it down hard, and suddenly opened the door.

Tina's expression suddenly changed and turned pale.

Darien saw her expression and immediately prepared to fight the monster inside the door.

The people inside the door also looked over.

"Tina? Is that you? Where have you been these days?" said one of the dancers.

"Ah, I, I met my biological father... You know, every time I meet him, I can't help but chase him and beat him up." Tina lied quickly.

"You've been absent from work for a long time, and your boss thought you were dead. There have been a lot of dismembered bodies in the downtown area recently, and you just happened to be missing." said another dancer.

Darien and Sevier hid in the corridor. The dancers in the room didn't see them and greeted Tina one after another.

"Anyway, I chased after him and got lost, and it took me a long time to get back." Tina lied carelessly, waving the tongs in her hand.

The dancers in the room secretly thought that she might be stimulated.

After a few words, Tina found an excuse, closed the door and slipped out.

"They all smell the same, but after my judgment, I suspect that the Kalerite has turned into Lilith. Lilith hates the color green, but today she actually used a green ribbon to tie her hair, and she also started to care about me. She never did this before... Alas." Tina sighed at the end.

"My condolences. Could you please call it out and we can try to resolve this quietly," said Darien.

"No problem, hold this for me first and return it to me later." Tina handed over the tongs.

Sewell answered.

She encouraged herself, then stepped back through the door and walked in with firm steps.

"Let's go to the stairs and prepare the wire." Darien said to Sevier.

"Okay." Sewell nodded.

They hid at the stairs and waited for Tina to bring Kalerit out, then went up and tied it up.

Not long after Tina went in, she came out with Lilith, who might be Kalerite.

It was a short distance from the locker room to the stairs. Tina walked forward while talking and laughing, enduring the tingling feeling on her scalp, but Lilith did not respond.

Before she even reached the stairs, Lilith pounced on her!

"Ahhhh, I knew it! Help!" Tina rolled and crawled, screaming loudly.

Lilith's skin cracked, and a hyena's head, drooling, bit into nothing. It landed on all fours, twisted its body, and pounced on Tina again.

Sewell yanked the tongs in his hand hard.

There was no skill, only strength. The hyena's bloody mouth was hit by the tongs, and it waved its arms and began to wail.

"Oh no, quickly block its mouth!" Darian's face changed and he rushed forward with the wire twisted.

Tina rolled on the floor, gritted her teeth, closed her eyes, picked up the broom next to her and started hitting.

The door in the corridor creaked, and all the dancers inside ran out, repeating the same words as if they were bewitched: "Let it go, let it go, let it go..."

Several pairs of snow-white arms were clawing at them like octopus tentacles, and there were footsteps coming from downstairs. The situation was very bad.

"Hold it down! I'll take care of them! Hold your breath!" Darien opened a potion bottle.

The bottle contained sleeping mist, and the dancers who reached out to scratch it staggered and fell to the ground in a few seconds.

The same thing happened downstairs. Two sleeping bottles were thrown down and there was immediately no movement.

"Ahhhhhhhh!" Tina burst out with all her strength and stuffed the broom into the dog's head.

Seville threw several small corrosive bottles at Kaleri.

The monster finally fell.

Sewell turned it over and pinned it to the floor, then took the wire from Darien and tied up the monster.

Darien squatted down and cut its neck with a knife, and blue blood flowed out.

Fresh blood was added to the previously prepared medicine and shaken. Tina took it, closed her eyes, pinched it and drank it down.

"Ugh... It's so disgusting... I feel like I've eaten a basket of rotten oranges..." Tina kept dry heaving while drinking.

"It's useless. Kill it and throw the body in the alley behind and wait for the sheriff to find it." Darien said.

"Good master." Seville ended the life of the Calerite that was wreaking havoc in the lower city.

Its body was carried away, and the people who fell in the tavern were moved a little bit and leaned against the wall. Tina locked the door of the tavern and fulfilled her promise to treat them to free drinks.

"I dare say this is definitely the most shocking and exciting thing I have ever encountered in my life," said Tina.

"I hope you never meet him again in your life," said Darien.

"Yes, I am lucky." Tina nodded, with a hint of sadness in her tone.

"I found wine from Reno and noble rot wine from Cancesa." Seville came out from behind the wine cabinet carrying two bottles of wine.

"Oh, good taste. Look at the vintage, I bet you've found the best wine in this cellar," said Tina.

"The three-year and five-year-old ones are okay," said Sewell.

"Give me a glass of botrytis cider, thank you. Do you have a decanter?" Darien said.

"Of course not. Just uncork and drink it directly. It's not that particular. I remember the ham is... here! I found it. We can eat some ham to go with the wine!" Tina jumped up to pick up the ham on the beam.

Darien moved his fingers and the ham flew down by itself.

"Wow, that's amazing! Can you conjure up a roast goose? Roast goose tastes great with wine," said Tina.

"I'm sorry, but I can't," Darien said.

After working for most of the day and having empty stomachs, they each took a bottle of wine, sat down on the ground, gathered around the ham, uncorked the bottles, and started drinking.

"I'm really screwed. It's all because of that Kalarit. Not only have I lost most of the month's wages and tips, I'm also going to get scolded by my boss." Tina complained to herself, tilting her head back and taking a big gulp of wine.

Sewell took out a knife, cut a slice of ham and handed it to Darien.

"No, I'll do it myself." Darien shook his head and took a sip of wine like Tina did.

This experience was quite novel. He took a sip of wine and a bite of ham slice, and his consciousness gradually became blurred under the influence of alcohol.

Tina just grumbled quietly at first, but after drinking too much, she let go, cursing the monster loudly, and sometimes crying loudly, releasing all the suppressed emotions that she had been hiding for the past half month.

The effects of the sleeping bottle would last for most of the day, and no one would notice her noise.

Darien curled up quietly. He didn't know how much he drank. When a ham roll was stuffed into his mouth, he opened his mouth to take it, and then closed his mouth when he was full.

The drunk ones went crazy, the quiet ones were quiet. Sewell threw the drunk out, dealt with the scene of the cheating, and then carried Darien on his back.

"You guys are leaving, take care, remember to come and watch me dance next time... I haven't paid yet... wait a minute... I'll pay now." The drunk Tina spoke loudly, got up from the ground and searched the pockets of the person next to her.

Seville collected a gold coin for Darien and listened to Tina repeat the recipe of wolfsbane wine several times in a disjointed manner.

"Goodbye," said Sewell.

"Goodbye!" Tina burped and slowly slid down the wall.

Although the rain outside had stopped, the sky was still covered with haze. It would obviously be difficult for a humanoid crow to walk back on two legs.

After thinking it over, he used the gold coin to buy a horse and a simple carriage.

I used the last bit of money I had left to buy two quilts and put them in the carriage to cushion the shock.

Mr. Crow took out the map from his pocket, took a look at it, and drove home.

When Darien woke up, he felt a dull pain in his head, like the kind of buzzing pain that comes from having your head put into an iron barrel and someone banging on it from outside.

"Have some lemonade. Mrs. Fitch said it can relieve the discomfort after drinking." Sewell brought a glass of sour lemonade that was half lemon and half water.

"Hiss. So sour. Give me some honey." Darien took only one sip and his face immediately wrinkled like a baked apple.

"Adding honey won't have such a good effect." Sewell rejected the request.

"How did we get back?" Darien asked, pinching the cup.

"We came back in a carriage, and you slept for a few hours and didn't miss dinner," said Sewell.

"How much did it cost to hire a carriage?" Darien continued to ask.

"I bought a horse and carriage, and two quilts. It's exactly what I earned today." Sewell lowered his eyes.

"Yeah." Darien accepted the fact that he came back empty-handed today.

Sewell raised his eyes to him.

Darien looked back and felt that the crow was baffling.

They stared at each other inexplicably for several times, and it ended with Sewell looking away.

Compared to Darien and Seville's thrilling day, Elvira's day was boring and difficult.

I don't know what Claude said to Anna after she stepped on his foot, but Anna began to distance herself from her.

Elvira could feel that Ana wanted to say something, but she hesitated.

And to make matters worse, her necklace was missing.

This necklace is very important to her. It can be opened in the middle and divided into two parts. There are small portraits of Anna and Claude on the left and right sides. When closed, it becomes an oval pendant.

She didn't notice where it fell at all, but when she touched her heart, she suddenly realized that she couldn't touch the necklace.

"Have you seen my necklace? It's golden, oval-shaped, about this big, and has clusters of roses on it." Elvira asked the maid who was cleaning the room.

"I'm sorry, miss, we haven't seen your necklace." The maids shook their heads.

"If you see it, please tell me immediately. This necklace is very important to me," she said.

The maids nodded.

Elvira recalled the place she passed by this morning. She clearly remembered that the necklace was still hanging on her neck yesterday, but it was gone this morning. It was very likely that it fell on the road.

It's all Claude's fault. He suddenly came out to talk to her. Maybe that's when it fell.

She walked up the stairs and then went to the corridor outside to look for it.

"Elvira, what are you looking for?" Catherine asked.

Elvira told her about the necklace.

"I really wish I had seen it too. I'll ask the head maid to arrange a few maids to help you find it. It will be faster than you finding it by yourself. Let's go to the recreation room together. It's boring on rainy days. We can play some games." Catherine took her hand.

Aunt Catherine was still very reliable, so Elvira nodded and followed her.

A performative word game was being played in the recreation room, and almost everyone was there except Anna and Claude.

Elvira was dragged by Catherine to participate in the game. She played absent-mindedly, thinking about her necklace on one hand and where Anna and Claude had gone on the other.

These two things overlapped in her mind, and gradually it seemed as if something was about to connect.

"I want to talk to you," Claude said to Anna.

"That's great, me too. Let's find a place where there is no one. I think this conversation is very important and it's best not to be disturbed by others." Anna said.

The rain outside gradually subsided, so they walked hand in hand and came to a small house a little away from the main building, which was a resting place for those returning from hunting.

Anna took off her coat and shook off the water droplets on it. They didn't ask any maid or butler to come with them. After entering the house, they had to do everything themselves.

Claude struck a match and lit the candlestick, then they sat down face to face and began to talk about the important things they wanted to say.

"You speak first." Anna said to Claude.

"Have you noticed that Miss Elvira has a strange enthusiasm for you, an abnormal one?" Claude said.

"Yes. She is indeed a little too enthusiastic. Although I can feel her sincerity, the feeling is very strange, as if we have known each other before." Anna did not feel a little comfortable with such a fast-paced relationship.

"I think her feelings are a little distorted. She feels the same way I do towards you. She's in love with you," Claude said firmly.

"Huh?" Anna uttered only a single syllable.

"That's right. My judgment is very likely correct. Think carefully about it and see if there is anything particularly unusual about her behavior." Claude reminded Anna.

If Avra was here, she would definitely cover her chest weakly and slowly fall down.

Her mature and steady old father was quite imaginative when he was young.

"Is it particularly unusual?" Anna began to ponder. "She likes to hug me, lean on me, and smell my clothes. She says I smell really good."

"She has fallen in love with you. My dear Anna, I also want to be able to lean on your arms and smell the fragrance of your hair like her." Claude sighed softly.

"I think your speculation is a bit excessive," said Anna.

"The evidence is overwhelming, even if you don't want to believe it," Claude said.

"Let's end this topic here. I want to tell you another thing. Elvira slept in my bed last night and she dropped her necklace. I swear I didn't open it on purpose. It was open when I picked it up from the bed. You should see it." Anna handed over the closed necklace.

Claude took it, pressed the side, and with a click, the oval necklace opened.

He was stunned after just one look.

The small oval is divided into two parts, with a small portrait inlaid on the left and right sides. It looks very familiar, it is him and Anna.

The portrait on the left is him, wearing only a pair of glasses and smiling; the portrait on the right is Anna, with her hair tied up and a golden wreath on her head, looking very peaceful and beautiful.

Who is Elvira and why are there portraits of both of them inside her necklace.

"She, Anna, why are there portraits of both of us in her necklace? Could it be..." Claude was rarely incoherent.

"I was as surprised as you when I saw this necklace today. To be honest, I feel a little confused now." Anna sighed.

"I can't figure it out." Claude gave up thinking and snapped the necklace back together.

"I think we have to talk to her. Only she can tell us why she has these two portraits in her necklace," said Anna.

"I'm worried she has bad intentions," Claude said.

"But she is alone now, her brother is not here, and she doesn't have a personal maid with her. Maybe things will be better than we thought?" Anna said.

"I hope so. When should we talk to her, after dinner?" said Claude.

"Okay, I'll bring her to my room. We need a familiar place to have a peaceful conversation," said Anna.

"Hopefully, things will go well," Claude said.

Elvira was dragged into playing several role-playing games, and she felt that her energy was about to be sucked away by Catherine.

It turned out that her interesting Aunt Catherine had been so lively and active since she was young.

Anna and Claude appeared just as dinner was about to start, and Elvira was keenly aware of the looks they gave her, as if something was brewing in secret.

Sitting next to Anna for dinner, Anna seemed to have regained her gentle and friendly attitude, and she became more and more certain that Anna had something to say to her.

“Avella, would it be convenient for us to come to my room to talk later? I have something to tell you.” Ana turned sideways and whispered to her.

"That's convenient." Elvira agreed.

She noticed that Claude was also looking at her, and suddenly she figured out what had been bothering her for most of the day.

Anna's hesitation to speak and her disappeared necklace, which they had opened and looked at.

What should she do? How should she explain? Should she just admit it? But how could she convince them?

Elvira's thoughts were completely confused, and she didn't notice that the plate in front of her was empty. She pried the air with her fork and then put the air into her mouth to chew.

The unbearable dinner was finally over, and she was like a jellyfish floating in the sea, swaying along the wall and drifting all the way to Anna's room.

Anna and Claude were already waiting for her in the room.

“I’m sorry Elvira, I found your necklace on the bed and we checked it without your permission,” Anna said.

“It doesn’t matter, I believe you didn’t mean it.” Elvira shook her head.

"Ms. Elvira, I want to know why there are our portraits inside your necklace, or are they just two people you know who look exactly like us?" Claude asked.

"Do you want to hear the truth?" Elvira raised her eyes and swallowed nervously.

"Yes, I want to hear the truth," said Anna.

"I will tell the truth. It's hard to make up a lie. My real name is not Elvira Ferrers, but Elvira Holden. I know it's hard to believe, but it's true. I come from 30 years later. I am your future daughter." Elvira said.

There was silence in the room for a long time.

Perhaps these words sounded too absurd, like the most rude deception, causing both Anna and Claude to lose their voices.

Elvira gave up on herself: "You don't have to believe it, because I have no way to prove it to you...but I am indeed your daughter..."

She lowered her head and grasped the hem of her skirt, crumpling it into a ball.

"You do look a bit like Claude. Your eyes are very similar to his, and your lips and nose are more like mine...If we have a daughter, maybe she will look like you." Anna said slowly.

"Anna," Claude said.

Elvira raised her eyes, tears gradually gathering in them.

"I really want to believe you, but you really have to prove it to us, otherwise we can't believe such an absurd fact." Anna continued.

Plop, plop, Elvira's tears fell.

The next morning, Sewell woke up Darien much earlier than scheduled.

Darien almost thought he was dreaming.

The guests downstairs have been waiting for a long time.
