Chapter 22 Returning home and the inevitable death announcement

Chapter 22 Returning home and the inevitable death announcement

The family of three gathered together, drinking tea in the living room downstairs.

Darienza went back to bed and dozed for another ten minutes before jumping out of bed.

On the way downstairs in a hurry, Sewell fed him some snacks on a tray. It would be too miserable to receive guests on an empty stomach.

"Good morning. Is there something important that brings you here in such a hurry?" Darien asked.

If you have nothing else to do, just go out, turn left and go. No thanks.

Avella repeated what happened yesterday with two huge dark circles under her eyes.

"Hmm..." Darien's expression was a little hard to describe.

It seems that everyone had a bad day yesterday. He experienced physical torture and Elvira experienced psychological torture.

"I'm sorry, but I can't offer any assistance in this matter." Darien shook his head. "Although I'm a magician, Miss Elvira, the bloodline test you mentioned can only be performed on monsters and some rare beasts. Even then, such a test can't prove blood relationship."

"So you are not Sir Ferrers either, you are using a fake identity. What is your purpose here?" Claude said.

"Claude, shut up," Anna said.

"My head hurts. It's been like this since last night. Fortunately, my mother is here." Elvira sighed.

“Avella.” Ana’s eyelashes trembled slightly.

"Hey, please be careful with your address. We haven't been able to prove your identity yet," said Claude.

"Stop, I don't want to listen to you quarreling. I didn't get up so early to listen to you quarreling. I only care about my balance." Darien felt a headache.

Due to lack of sleep, he accidentally revealed his true purpose.

Fortunately, Elvira and Claude stopped confronting each other and turned to look at him.

"Listen, I have a solution that should help you resolve your current predicament." Darien thought of a solution. "Just drink Veritaserum. That way, you can guarantee that everything you say is true."

"I object. How can we know if this isn't another coordinated deception by you?" Claude said.

Snap——

Anna slapped him.

"Mom is so handsome!" Elvira cheered with sparkling eyes.

"You can drink a bottle yourself to verify its authenticity. If you are not sure, you can watch me make the potion myself. I will make sure that the potion you drink comes from the same crucible." Darien said.

"Then it's settled. Let's go now and resolve this matter as soon as possible." Claude covered his face.

"But before that, please allow my master to excuse himself for a moment," said Sewell.

Darien hadn't had breakfast yet, so he had to disappear for a while to fill his stomach.

Sewell gave Claude a polite smile.

About 20 minutes later, everyone appeared in the wizard's alchemy room.

"Just sit there and don't touch anything here with your hands. Don't talk and disturb me while I'm refining the medicine. Just sit there quietly. If the crucible explodes, we will become pieces of paper stuck in this house." said Darien.

Sewell brought in chairs from outside and asked all three of them to sit down.

And watching a magician make potions is a painful thing.

Sewell took out several bottles of colorful liquid medicine from the cabinet, ground up a dried salamander, and then took out stardust dust and dust flower roots from the cabinet.

These things all looked so strange and bizarre that Elvira and Claude, who were about to drink the potion, showed the same disgusted expression.

Anna was looking at the two of them and felt that they were sharing the same face at this moment.

They really look like father and daughter. If Elvira was her daughter, she would actually be quite happy.

Darien had made Veritaserum hundreds of times and could fish it out of the cauldron with his eyes closed.

After he lit the candlestick under the crucible, he swept the materials on the table directly into the crucible. After the materials were fused, a red light burst out from the pot, dyeing half of the alchemy room red.

Stir three times on the left side, three times on the right side, and five more times in the middle of the vortex. Pop the third bubble that emerges from the liquid...

There were constant crackling sounds coming from the crucible, and the red light from the pot shone on the wall, illuminating the figure of the wizard, and there were also a few vague shadows twisting and spinning.

The medicinal power blended until there was a slight cracking sound like a nut cracking, and the red light in the pot gradually faded.

"Give me two cups," Darien said.

Sewell handed over two champagne glasses.

Darien scooped up the mud-colored Veritaserum liquid and filled the two champagne flutes.

"One cup each, drink it all. The effect of the potion will last for an hour, which is enough time for you to tell all the truth." He said.

Sewell placed the two cups on a tray and carried them over.

Although they were very reluctant, they had no choice but to jump into the hole they dug for themselves. Elvira and Claude pinched their noses and drank all the truth serum.

The taste is really bad. After one cup, it can even bring back the memories of my infancy.

“Mom, it’s really hard to drink…” Avella slowly leaned into Ana’s arms.

"I have some candy in my pocket, have one." Anna quickly took her hand and reached into her pocket.

"Ahem." Claude reminded them that he was still here.

But Anna didn't give him much of her attention.

"Now if you have any questions, you can ask each other. The function of the potion is to make you tell the truth." Darien said.

"Anna, if you ask me, I will try to lie to prove the effectiveness of the medicine." Claude said.

"What's your name?" Anna said as she peeled off the candy wrapper.

"Claude Holden," Claude replied.

Ana fed the candy into Elvira’s mouth, and Elvira held the candy like a little bird.

Claude coughed twice in dissatisfaction. Anna glanced at him and asked a few simple questions.

Claude tried to lie, but the lie became the truth as soon as it slipped out of his mouth. He really couldn't lie.

"Okay, I believe this potion is effective. Now it's my turn to ask questions," said Claude.

"Ask, I can't lie now." Elvira said.

"First question, who are you?" Claude said.

“Avella Holden, your and Anna’s daughter, is from 30 years later.” Avella answered everything in one breath.

"Hmm... I need to think about what else I can ask," Claude said.

"Can you tell me something about Claude that only the three of us know?" Anna asked a slightly difficult question.

"My father likes to collect wax dolls. He has a whole cabinet full of them. He used to do it secretly, but after I was born, he openly said that they were toys for his daughter," said Elvira.

"That's right!" Anna laughed.

"Mr. Claude's hobby is indeed unique," said Darien.

"How did you know? Anna, you promised me that you would never tell anyone else." Claude blushed immediately.

"I didn't tell anyone." Anna waved her hand.

Claude took the initiative to show Anna this little hobby. He has several cabinets full of beautiful dolls. He said that when they have a lovely daughter, they can display all these dolls openly.

"Okay. If you are our daughter, why are you here?" Claude asked.

"Because I want to come and see my mother. I really want to get to know her." Elvira replied.

"Why do you want to see Anna?" Claude told him directly and asked deeper questions.

“Because…” Elvira bit her lip, but she had to answer this question, “Because my mother died when I was very young, and you told me all the good things about her, so I really want to get to know her myself.”

The truth is often cruel, so cruel that it is hard to accept, and the alchemy room fell into silence.

"Tell me you're lying." Claude's voice trembled.

"No, I didn't lie. You can ask me a few more questions and I can answer them all." Elvira shook her head.

"Maybe you can go into the living room to talk. I think you will get into private topics next, and it is not convenient for us to be there," said Darien.

"Thank you. I think you must have provided Elvira with a lot of help by bringing her here." Anna said softly.

But her slightly trembling hands showed that she was not at peace inside.

Sewell invited them all down and kindly provided them with hot tea and Mrs. Fitch's freshly made snacks.

Hopefully, food can bring them some comfort.

When Sewell returned upstairs, Darien was dozing lazily in his chair, like a cat just dug out of bed.

"Go tell Mrs. Fitch and the others to pack. I think we can go back now." Darien yawned. "It took less time than I thought."

"Okay, Master." Sewell agreed, but he hesitated before going downstairs. "Has Miss Elvira's wish come true now?"

"Anna seems to like her very much. She can stay here for a while on her own. She doesn't really need us to be here with her. Our presence is unnecessary." Darien replied.

"Miss Anna foresaw her future in advance. She shouldn't have known that. Would this change her destiny?" Sewell asked again.

"Destiny is not so easy to change. Let's make an assumption. If a cat jumps onto a table and pushes a glass off the table and breaks it, and then after the glass breaks, the cat returns to the table before it jumps onto the table and takes the cat away, then without the cat, the mouse that jumps onto the table will also knock the glass over," said Darian.

"Even if there's no cat, the cup will break. After the mouse is caught, there might be a dog," said Sewell.

"That's right," Darien said. "So why are you still standing here?"

"I'll be there right away." Sewell turned and disappeared out the door.

Avella and the others occupied the living room for a long time, and when they came out, everyone's eyes were red.

"Ms. Elvira, we have to leave here." Darien said.

"Well. Can I stay here for a while longer, and then you can come pick me up later? I feel that only a small part of my wish has been fulfilled." Elvira said.

"Of course, you'll be back soon." Darien nodded.

"Mr. Magician, I heard that you can fulfill any wish. Can you extend Anna's life a little longer? I am willing to pay any price." Claude said.

"I am also willing to give everything so that I can live longer, at least until Elvira comes of age." Anna said.

"I'm sorry, I can't fulfill this wish. I can't change anyone's fate, and you can't afford such a price." Darien shook his head slightly.

"Then is there any other way? I heard... I heard about a mysterious magic that can resurrect people. Can it resurrect my mother?" Elvira's tears were about to fall from her eyes again.

"I'm sorry, there's nothing I can do. Those necromancers can only awaken a soulless body, and Miss Anna doesn't have the talent to become an undead." Darien shook his head.

"There is another way." Sewell said from the side.

All eyes turned to him.
