Chapter 44: Lizard, you should go back and retake the Monster Atlas course

Chapter 44: Lizard, you should go back and retake the Monster Atlas course

Yes, that's right, they were at Hawkins's house.

But there are some small changes in this home.

A large burning beam crackled under the weight and a moment later landed at Darien's feet, flames in its grip.

Darien was used to it. He drank a luck potion and performed a ritual to improve his luck, so he could walk around the burning house freely.

"Sevier, 5 gold coins for each frost potion bottle you smash, put it in Hawkins' account." He said to Sevier.

As an excellent magician, it is necessary to carry various potions with him. Darien grabbed a handful of frost potions into his pocket.

The small glass bottle hit the flame, and the cold mist spread out. A small bottle could freeze the fire in half of the room.

Of course, he could use frost magic, but Darien didn't want to waste his magic power.

The frost potion was unsaleable, and thanks to Hawkins, he was able to sell off his remaining stock.

Hawkins's house was a two-story building with a basement. Most of the walls were made of stone, and the staircase floors and beams were made of wood. The fire should not have been so big.

But because he had accumulated a lot of clutter, just a spark could set the whole house on fire.

But this may not be a bad thing. At least Hawkins no longer has to worry about cleaning up the clutter, because these things that he could not find once they were piled up were burned up in a fire.

"Hawkins, where are you?" Darien shouted.

"I'm upstairs! Upstairs! Cough cough! Help!" Hawkins' voice came from upstairs.

The wooden staircase was burned to half its frame. Darien simply threw two more bottles of frost potion on it. The frost quickly condensed on it, and new steps appeared before their eyes one after another.

Go up and see what's going on.

The situation upstairs was not optimistic either. The door was burned to a frame. The first thing Darian did when he went up was to smash the frost potion in the smoke that could make people cry.

Seville was also very busy. Not only did he have to calculate the number of potions thrown out, he also had to use a small wind magic to blow the smoke in another direction. Finally, he had to be careful not to step on the wooden floor that had several holes in it.

Where is Hawkins?

After the smoke cleared, Darien saw his friend who was always getting into trouble.

"Thank God you are finally here. I thought I was going to turn to ashes along with my house." Hawkins hugged the wobbly copper chandelier, and he didn't know how he got up there, but he sat on it.

"Can't you use frost magic to put out the fire yourself?" Darien looked up at his embarrassed old friend.

"My magic wand is not at hand, and I can't cast most spells without it." Hawkins's face was blackened by smoke, and there were traces of fire on the hem of his clothes.

"You're so useless," Darien commented deadpan.

"Everyone has their own shortcomings." Hawkins shook his head and sighed.

His movements were so large that the brass chandelier, which was not suitable for hanging people, fell down with a crack along with the ceiling fragments.

Hawkins, who had not drunk the luck potion, was very unlucky. Even though Darien summoned the wind to support him in time, he still fell through the fragile floor and went straight to the first floor.

"Are you okay, Mr. Hawkins?" Sewell looked at the big hole in the floor worriedly.

"Ahem... I'm fine... I'm fine..." Hawkins used his hands and feet to crawl out of the hole on the ground.

Sewell breathed a sigh of relief that the next bill was paid.

"What's going on here? And the dragon eggs you mentioned... did you hatch the dragon? Where is the dragon?" asked Darien.

"It's hatched. It's a very naughty little creature. The flames that spewed from its throat are everywhere." Hawkins wiped his face, and the black ash on his face was spread more evenly. "I don't know where it hid. When the dragon entrusted the child to me in my dream, he didn't tell me it would be so naughty."

"What about your house? It looks like it's going to be uninhabitable for a long time," said Darien.

"Let's ask the dwarves to help rebuild it. It will probably take at least a month. Darian, you have a lot of empty rooms there, right? Can I stay there temporarily?" Hawkins asked.

"Hmm...you mean to bring that fire-breathing dragon to live in my tower temporarily?" Darien said in a long tone. "As your friend, I should help you...but this can't be done. It will burn through my tower."

The tower was too valuable; burning down one room meant losing half a year's income.

"Oh... I think I should move to the snowfield to live, so that at least I can put out the fire at any time when it breaks out." Hawkins was frustrated.

"As for the dragon, let's catch it first. This place can't be set on fire again, otherwise it will take you more time to rebuild the house." said Darien.

"Carlo, where are you? Come out quickly." Hawkins called Xiaolong while sitting in the ruins.

His shouting continued for quite some time, and finally, a small fiery red lizard emerged from behind a pile of wooden boards that had been burnt into charcoal.

"Hawkins." Darien frowned. "Don't you notice something's wrong? This isn't a dragon. It's a young salamander."

"ah?"

Hawkins, holding the little lizard in his hands, froze.

The little lizard in his hand burped, and the flames that came out set his hair on fire.

Fortunately, Seville reacted quickly and poured half a bottle of frost potion on his head to save his hair.

Darien came to Hawkins and pointed out the difference between salamanders and dragons.

"There is a thin webbing on the back of the neck of a salamander, which will become upright spikes when they grow up. The spots on the abdomen of this salamander are also very obvious... Where did you take the Magical Creature Atlas Analysis class? You can mistake a salamander for a dragon. You should go back and retake it." He sighed deeply to Hawkins.

Hawkins was horrified.

Now he was holding a baby salamander in his hand, but what about the dragon? Where was the dragon egg entrusted to him?

"Hurry up, let's go to the Venetian Crater! I took the wrong egg! How could I make such a mistake! Damn it!" Hawkins jumped up suddenly.

Unfortunate people often become more unfortunate. He accidentally broke through the wooden board under his feet and tripped himself hard.

Darien had to give him some emergency treatment to help him recover from his dizziness.

"Okay, I can take you there, since we are friends. But before we go, we have to pack up this salamander so that it can't climb out of the cage and spit fire. I don't want anything of mine to be burned. They are all unique pieces, and you can't find an identical one even if you pay money." said Darien.

"It's great that you are willing to help! Let's have a friendly hug!" Hawkins opened his arms moved.

Darien backed away and hid behind Sewell. "No, I don't want to get covered in dust. Let's make a cage quickly so we can find the dragon you forgot about in the crater."

Hawkins had to leave the stage with regret.

The debris in the house was not completely burned, and they were still able to find some materials to make a fireproof cage.

The lucky potion and lucky ritual played a big role. Darian and Seville could easily get the materials they wanted just by rummaging through the ruins.

They quickly made a simple cage, put the baby salamanders in it, and returned to the tower.

Hawkins was in a dishevel, and there were few intact clothes to be found in the ruins.

The first thing he did when he got to the tower was to use the bathroom to wash himself.

The tower has prepared some simple clothes for the guests, because some guests need to stay here and don’t have any valuables on them, but they have great potential for development in the future.

Darien is happy to invest in these guests.

Hawkins got himself ready and they headed towards the location of the Venetian crater.

This time, the Plantagenet Gate brought them to a ruined temple.

This temple is at the foot of the volcano and was once dedicated to salamanders, which the local villagers believed to be gods many years ago.

When Darien and his companions arrived here, the temple had been abandoned for a long time. As soon as they passed through, the door behind them collapsed.

"Let's repair it and go back. We still have to go back from here." said Darien.

Seville lifted the door and carefully placed it against the gap. It didn't fall, so it was barely repaired.

"I have to take it out first. If its parents see me putting their children in the cage, the consequences will be serious," said Hawkins.

As soon as the baby salamander in the cage was taken out, it burst into a happy little flame.

Mount Venetian is an active volcano, so Hawkins thought of coming here to hatch dragon eggs.

Dragon eggshells are thick and hard, and under normal circumstances they cannot be broken. They are also resistant to high temperatures. Dragons do not love their children that much, so no baby dragons have been born for many years.

Darien was surprised that Hawkins was entrusted with a dragon egg by a dragon in his dream. Before he saw the dragon egg or the baby dragon with his own eyes, he was skeptical about the authenticity of the dragon egg incident.

Hawkins had been here not long ago and was very familiar with the road conditions here. He quickly led them past the edge of a salamander nest built on a steep slope.

"This road is easier to walk on. We have to keep our voices down when we pass by so as not to be discovered by them. Their sense of smell is not that sensitive, but their hearing is very developed." Hawkins said in a low voice.

"What should we do with the salamander in your hand? Are we going to release it right here?" Darien also lowered his voice.

"I don't think this is a good idea. It's so small. What if it gets accidentally stepped on by another salamander?" Hawkins also had a headache.

"I think we should get out of here quickly." Sewell stepped between the two of them. "Something seems a little off."

"Hmm?" Darien looked back at him.

When they turned around, they saw a huge fireball coming towards them.

His body moved faster than his brain. His mind went blank but he threw out three bottles of frost potion with his backhand.

With a few crackling sounds, the huge fireball was immediately extinguished by the rising ice mist.

"What's going on? Have we been discovered?" Hawkins squatted down and put his hands on his head.

"No, I meant they were fighting," Sevier whispered.

These fireballs that were wasted everywhere were not aimed at them, but because there was an internal conflict among the fire lizards and they were attacking indiscriminately.

Darien originally wanted to slip away quietly, but the group of salamanders could speak, and a few words floated into his ears on the wind.

"Who on earth were you secretly having an affair with? Why did such an ugly creature hatch from the egg you laid? This is not the offspring of a salamander at all! You betrayed me!"

I have to stay and listen. The lucky potion is still effective now, so nothing will happen if I get a little closer.

"Let's go over and take a look." He turned to Sewell and Hawkins.

"Do you really want to go over there? I don't think the current situation is suitable for joining in." Hawkins hunched his shoulders, looking weak and pitiful.

"Did your brain get filled with magma from cracking the Fire Crystal? How dare you slander me with such a reason! I also want to ask you if you stole our eggs! Who did you give birth to outside?" another voice roared.

There were many fireballs flying in the air, and many fire lizards came out of their nests, risking their scales being singed to join in the fun.

"Ahem, stop for a moment, I have something to say." Darien had seen enough of the excitement and stood out with a frost potion in his hand.
