Chapter 76: Your Beauty is Unparalleled
Most blind people have very sensitive hearing. Because they have lost part of their senses, they pay more attention to the movements around them.
The guest's body looked stiff, and she had realized that she had come to an unfamiliar place.
"Hello, I'm Darien, the owner of the Magic Shop. How can I help you?" Darien said.
"Hello, I'm Olyfia," the customer said. "I know the legend of that shop. Did my god answer me, granting me the wish to come here?"
"It was your heart that brought you here, not the gods. Do you need me to help you up there? There are steps under your feet," said Darien.
"Thank you for your reminder. I have a cane. I can walk up by myself, but I have to go a little slower." Olivia shook her head and raised the cane that was leaning against her fluffy skirt so that Darien could see it clearly.
Darien saw the huge diamond embedded in the top of the cane.
How rich! He couldn't help but sigh in his heart.
Since the wealthy lady didn't need help, he should respect her wishes.
"Sevier, serve the guests a pot of black tea and ask Mrs. Fitch if she has any snacks." Darien told Sevier.
This was a big deal, and it was definitely worth the high-level hospitality he'd shown. There was no other way, since he was a profiteer.
Olivia took her shiny cane, tried to touch the steps in front of her, and then walked slowly forward.
Her shoes were very inconvenient; they were the kind of high-heeled, pointed-toe shoes that aristocratic ladies wear. They looked nice but were not very convenient for walking up stairs, especially for a blind lady.
Darien watched this important guest until she reached the steps and said, "Please come this way, Miss Olyphia."
Olivia followed his voice and used her cane to find the way. "Okay."
The display cabinets in the store were all against the wall, and the path after the stairs was empty, so Olivia walked steadily.
"You might want to change your shoes; heels can make it harder to move around," Darien said.
"Mother said ladies must wear shoes like this." Olivia shook her head.
"Okay," Darien said, "then please let me help you sit down. The chair is over here."
He gently took Olivia's cane, led her a few more steps, then pulled out a chair and helped her sit down.
"Thank you, Mr. Magician," said Oliphia.
"You're welcome. Do you like meringue cookies?" Darien asked.
"I like it very much!" Olivia's voice was a little cheerful.
"Xavier, please put the teacup and biscuits next to Miss Olivia. Miss Olivia, be careful of the heat." Darien said.
"Please enjoy your meal." Sewell placed the teacup and biscuits together, making a not-so-loud noise.
Enough for Oliphia to hear.
Darien was not in a hurry to ask Olivia what her wish was. He waited until she had drunk tea and eaten biscuits and said some irrelevant things before getting to the point.
"Miss Olyphia, what is your wish?" Darien asked.
"I want a pair of eyes that can see everything clearly," Olivia said. "I would give anything for such a pair of eyes."
This is a completely unsurprising answer.
"Of course, I can fulfill your wish. As long as you are willing to pay the corresponding compensation." Darien said.
"My father has consulted many pharmacists and even magicians, but none of them could cure these eyes. Those potions only make me feel very uncomfortable, and the severe pain from the cutting blade is also unbearable." Olivia showed fear on her face.
"Please don't worry, Miss Olyfia. As long as you trust me, I will do my best. It's just that..." Darien paused for a moment, "You have incomparable beauty, and it deserves a pair of bright eyes."
"My beauty?" Olivia was a little surprised.
"Yes, your beauty is enough to pay for a pair of bright eyes." Darien nodded. "It's up to you to decide. You can tell me the answer later."
Olivia seemed very hesitant.
Darien waited patiently for her answer. Almost every guest who walked in here would stay and pay the price to fulfill their wish.
"I don't know," Olyphia replied. "My father and mother are most proud of my appearance. They need my beauty more than I do."
Darien frowned, his intuition telling him that it would be best not to pursue this issue any further.
So he said, "I can give you a taste of life with bright eyes, but it's temporary and can only be used once. Of course, it's not free, you have to pay a little money."
Olivia nodded happily. "I have a lot of beautiful jewelry. Can I pay with that?"
Darien's eyes flickered to the giant diamond on his cane and he nodded, "Of course. Please sign the contract. Can you read and write Braille?"
Olivia nodded, "I can."
Darien said, "Then this contract will be written in Braille. Once you read it and feel comfortable with it, you can sign your name."
Olyphia said, "Thank you, Mr. Magician, you are so kind. I don't know how to thank you enough."
Darien smiled and said, "You're welcome."
But in fact, he was thinking that it would be better to give more money, but he couldn't be so blunt in front of the guests.
To temporarily restore the eyes' brightness, Darien has a recipe that can be used, but it must be used in conjunction with a strong sleeping potion.
The formula is called Ernest, invented by an alchemist named Ernest. The effect is quite terrifying. When the potion made with this formula is dripped into the eyeball, it will directly burn the eyeball and then give birth to new flesh and blood, but the new eyeball will wither within a few days.
The process is extremely painful and there is a high possibility of dying from the pain. The result is not very pleasant either, so not many people use it.
In order to avoid scaring Olivia, Darien was not going to tell her about this bloody process.
"Sevier, take Miss Olivia to the room with the stone altar. It will be a better place for Miss Olivia to see the light again." Darien said.
"Yes, Master." Sewell nodded. "Please raise your cane a little, Miss Olivia. I will take you there."
"Okay." Olivia followed Seville and left here temporarily.
Darien also got up and went to the alchemy room to prepare all the potions he would need.
"Gorse, troll's eye, merman's tears, sage ashes..." Darion muttered as he rummaged through the herb cabinet, as if calling their names would make them respond.
When he had almost gathered all the materials, Seville walked into the alchemy room.
"Miss Olyfia was a little scared," Sewell told Darien. "When she sat down on the stone altar and the chains made a noise, her expression changed instantly. I had to repeatedly assure her that I would never do anything to hurt her before she calmed down."
"Ahem. Although altars are generally used for sacrifices, this altar is only for some special formulas." Darien choked.
Since Olivia is afraid, don't make her wait too long, so as not to scare her.
Darien asked Seville to help grind the ore and various monsters, then he lit the fire under the crucible and stirred it twice as fast as before.
The potion in the pot was stirred too quickly and turned into a sticky paste. Darian grabbed the spoon with both hands and pulled out a ball of slime-shaped jelly with one force.
With a bang, the flame at the bottom of the crucible exploded, and then the flame went out in an instant, leaving only the empty bottom of the pot and Darian looking at each other in bewilderment.
Sewell pointed at the slime hanging from the spoon and asked, "Is this still usable?"
Darien was very depressed. "Of course this won't work. Go and help me scrape the spoon clean and find another batch of ingredients for the powerful sleeping potion."
Being too hasty would not produce good results, so Darien could only take a deep breath to calm himself down before rekindling the fire to refine the potion.
This time it went much more smoothly. Both potions were refined and it was time to find Olivia.
Olivia was sitting on the stone altar, her back straight and her posture upright, like a motionless porcelain doll.
"Miss Olyphia, I'm sorry to have kept you waiting," Darien said.
"No, it's not too long, it's just a little scary here. Why are there chains here?" Olivia's tone was filled with fear.
"I'm sorry to tell you, this is used to lock you up. But don't be afraid, this is to prevent you from getting hurt." Darien explained weakly.
This statement is not convincing at all.
"Why would I hurt myself?" Olivia asked, scratching her hand while suppressing her fear.
"Because this potion will be very painful, you will also have to drink another potion that will make you sleepy. Just sleep it off and you will be fine," said Darien.
"Okay, okay." Olivia nodded.
"Then please drink the sleeping potion first. It's raspberry flavored. Do you like raspberries?" Darien asked.
"I like raspberry tarts. The raspberry jam inside is sour and sweet," said Olivia.
The bottle of medicine was placed in her hand. The taste in her mouth was really sweet and sour, just like raspberry juice. Olivia's uneasy mood was slightly soothed, and she was not as nervous as before.
"Please lie down. We are going to put chains on you now. Just think of it as a dream. When you wake up, you will see everything in front of you." said Darien.
Sewell also brought thick blankets and some strips of cloth to pad under Oliphia's body and wrap around her limbs to prevent her from hurting herself.
Oliphia lay down, and Darien and Sevier locked her limbs and torso firmly on the altar with layers of chains.
"Will I be able to see everything when I wake up, and it won't be just a dream, right..." Olivia's consciousness began to fade.
"Yes, go to sleep, Miss Olivia, and you will see it when you wake up." Darien lowered his voice and said in a coaxing tone.
Olivia fell into a deep sleep.
"Sevier, help me open Miss Olyfia's eyelids. Be quick." Darien handed over a pair of tweezers.
"Okay, master." Sewell took the tweezers.
The two of them tiptoed over, and after opening his eyelids, Darien quickly dropped the potion.
As soon as the medicine dropped into their eyes, a violent crackling sound immediately rang in their ears.
Olivia's body suddenly spasmed, but due to the effects of the powerful sleeping potion, the great pain could not awaken her sleeping soul.
The iron chains rattled as they were slapped, and the process continued for a long time.
