Chapter 77 The Beginning of a Perfect Romance
The effect of the powerful sleeping drug lasted for a long time, so long that Olivia did not wake up even after her eyeballs grew back.
During this time, Seville went to the kitchen and brought Darien a plate of Mrs. Fitch's new snack, beef and fennel shortbread. It was salty and tasted very good. Seville specially paired it with a pot of rose tea with honey. The mixture of salty and sweet tastes could last for a long time.
"Sevier, tell Mrs. Fitch to prepare an extra dinner. I think Miss Olivia will stay here for dinner." Darien said as he wiped the grease off his fingers with a handkerchief.
"Okay, master." Sewell said as he cleaned up.
Olivia finally came to herself before the dinner bell rang.
She sat up from the altar and rubbed her eyes subconsciously.
"How did you sleep, Miss Olyphia?" Darien asked with a smile.
"I slept very well. Thank you, Mr. Magician. As long as I wake up, I can see everything clearly. It feels magical." Olivia looked at Darien with wide eyes. It was the first time she saw a human face.
"You have beautiful eyes," Darien said. "They're a clear lake blue."
"Thank you. What does blue look like? Is it the color of your eyes?" Olyphia asked.
"No, my eyes are green, your skirt is white, and your hair is light blonde," said Darien.
"Can I have a mirror?" Olyphia asked.
"Of course, it's getting late, I'd like to invite you to stay here for dinner," said Darien.
"Is it okay? I've been missing for the whole afternoon. They must not be able to find me anywhere. Oh my God, I have to go back quickly." Olivia jumped down from the stone altar anxiously.
"Don't worry, Miss Olivia. The time here is different from the time outside. It will only take less than ten minutes for you to finish dinner and return," Darien said. "If you don't want to stay for dinner, I won't force you. Dinner is free."
"I want to stay for dinner." Olivia blushed a little. "Can I walk around here before I go back? Is there a garden here? I want to walk around by myself. My family rarely lets me go outside, and I want to take a look secretly."
She explained a little embarrassedly that she didn't stay just for free.
"Of course." Darien nodded. "It's not dinner time yet. I can take you to the garden first. There's a new swing in the garden. You can sit on it for a while."
"Thank you very much, Mr. Magician. Are these jewelry enough? I have necklaces, bracelets, rings and hair accessories." Olivia quickly took off her jewelry.
As a profiteer, Darien naturally had his own research on gemstone jewelry. The gemstone necklace was the most valuable jewelry on Olivia's body. He only took the necklace and refused all the others.
I accepted the necklace, and will disassemble it, melt it down, re-mount it, and sell it later. It should be able to pay part of the tower's bill.
After she regained her sight, Olivia turned into a curious little bird, chirping and curious about everything. On the way to the garden, Darien had answered more than a dozen of her questions continuously.
After pushing open the door to the garden, Darien couldn't help but breathe a sigh of relief.
But Olivia's problems became more numerous.
"Mr. Magician, what kind of flower is this?"
"Mr. Magician, I heard that water is blue. Why does it look transparent in the fountain?"
"Mr. Magician, are there any birds here? I think I hear birds singing."
…
Darien felt as if his head had turned into a tree trunk, and a little bird named Olyphia was standing on it and pecking at it non-stop. His head hurt so much.
After finally answering these questions, in order to prevent her from asking more questions, he quickly led the curious lady to the swing and let her play to avoid more questions.
"So this is the swing." Olivia touched the rope that hung the wooden board, and then touched the smooth wooden board.
"Miss Olyphia never sits down?" Darien asked.
"I've sat on it before when I was a child, but the maid held me in her arms. I only did it a few times, and I've never tried to do it myself." Olivia sat on it. "Now what should I do to make it move?"
Darien glanced down at Olivia's shoes. They were a pair of beautiful silk high heels. The toes would get snagged after a few steps, making them unsuitable for her to move on her own.
"Hold on to the rope, Miss Olyphia, and I'll push you," he said.
"I'm holding on!" said Olyphia.
Darien lifted her cane and placed it across her lower back and between the two ropes, then gave it a hard push and then stepped back.
Olivia let out a scream of delight, then fell into the same joy as Darien did when he first took a swing.
"They are having such a great time. Who is that beautiful lady? She and Darien standing together are like a beautiful painting." Mrs. Fitch leaned out of the window to look.
"That's Miss Olyphia, the guest who will be staying here for dinner tonight." Sewell took a look and said without any emotion.
"I wonder if she'd like vanilla ice cream? Or apple strudel?" Mrs. Fitch asked. "And will she stay tonight? Will she come again?"
Her series of questions have ups and downs, just like the beginning of all romance, when the hero and heroine meet and the narration pushes their relationship to a climax.
"Miss Olyphia will not stay tonight, nor will she stay in the future," Sewell said calmly.
"It's a pity, my dear Sewell, don't you think they look very well matched?" said Mrs. Fitch sadly.
"I don't feel that way," Sewell said.
"Oh, you don't understand. Darien has never been so considerate to any lady." Mrs. Fitch shook her head. "I am very happy to see this scene. I think I will have a hostess soon!"
Seville stopped talking and turned to look at the boiling soup pot. The soup pot was boiling continuously, and the soup overflowing from the edge of the gap made the charcoal fire sizzle, and the flame that was just blazing was immediately extinguished by more than half.
"Mrs. Fitch, I think I smell something burning in the pot," he said.
"Oh no, I forgot the soup pot! My carrots, my onions, my beef! They must be stuck to the bottom of the pot!" Mrs. Fitch screamed, jumped off the windowsill, and hurried back to where she was supposed to be.
Sewell left the kitchen and went to the garden to see at close range the thoughtfulness Mrs. Fitch had spoken of for ladies.
Darien saw Seville coming out of the door leading to the garden from the tower from a distance. He felt very happy that he could finally leave the curious Miss Olyphia to Seville.
His head and arms needed a good rest.
"Miss Olyphia, are you having fun?" Because he was about to be liberated, Darien's tone became gentler and more patient.
"I'm very happy! Mr. Magician, you are really a very good person!" Olivia's cheeks turned red because of laughing for a long time.
"Dinner is being prepared, and we'll have to wait a little longer. Mrs. Fitch accidentally burnt the beef broth," Sewell interrupted.
"Sevier, you're here just in time. I'll leave Miss Oliphia to you. I remembered I still have a recipe to prepare. See you at dinner." Darien quickly found an excuse to leave.
"Mr. Sewell, can you help me push the swing like you just did?" Olivia asked.
She hadn't had enough fun yet. When she couldn't see, she was not allowed to do many things. Even swinging on the swing became a novelty.
"Of course, Miss Olyphia." Sewell smiled at the right moment.
Darien slipped into the study. What he needed most was some quiet time, so he picked out a favorite book, spread it open over his face, and fell back into the rocking chair.
call.
The world is finally quiet.
The wizard, who had a moment of peace, appeared at dinner time and saw Seville's slightly resentful face behind Olivia.
Mr. Crow finally understood why his dear master ran so fast. Miss Olyphia was a curious lady, and his head was a little painful now.
Mrs. Fitch brought out her best cooking skills today. The dishes on the table were not only delicious but also beautiful. There was foie gras with red wine, gold leaf caviar with toast, roast goose stuffed with apples, and hot and sour fish soup...
Darien looked at the food that was served and wondered if today was Mrs. Fitch and Fitch's anniversary, and that Mrs. Fitch was in a good mood so she made some delicious food.
Miss Olyphia ate with great care, and was delighted to be able to use her own cutlery to taste the various foods.
At home, due to table etiquette, many kinds of food were not allowed on her plate. She never ate fried fish fillets that were easy to break, and rarely drank soup.
"It feels so good. When I eat at home, I have to be careful to pick up the food from the plate with a fork and then put it into my mouth without staining my clothes, so a lot of times there is no sauce on the steak and grilled chicken. I also want to try the taste of oysters, but I am not allowed to eat them because oysters have soup." Olivia retaliated by pouring a lot of basil sauce on the grilled veal shoulder on the plate and stuffed it all into her mouth.
"Will your maid not be able to help with this?" Darien asked.
"This is not allowed." Olivia shook her head. "I have to prove that I can do many things just like any other lady, and I'm not a blind person who needs help."
Darien looked at her, and a sense of disharmony rose in his heart. He always felt that Olivia was like an exquisite puppet, manipulated by countless silk strings, and wrapped layer by layer into an exquisite gift.
Many threads named "not allowed" were tightly wrapped around her, from silk high-heeled shoes to the bulging skirt like layered petals, as well as various etiquettes, most of which were unnecessary for a blind person.
She could live more easily.
But Darien didn't say anything because this was Miss Olivia's private matter and they had only met once for business purposes.
At the end of the dinner, while having tea, Darien said to Olivia, "Miss Olivia, after we leave here, I hope you will keep it a secret. You cannot reveal anything that happened here, and you cannot tell anyone about our deal."
Olivia nodded. "I will. I won't cause you any trouble. Thank you very much for your hospitality. I feel happier than ever before. I'll go back now."
Darien said, "Goodbye, Miss Olyphia. If you think about it, you can just open any door and come back here."
Olivia said solemnly: "Okay, I understand. Goodbye then. I think I will be back here soon."
Darien smiled, "See you then."
Olivia leaves.
She didn't come here for the next week.
Darien took her necklace apart, added some broken diamonds to create a new jewel necklace, and sold it for a good price. The finances of the tower were finally pulled back from the brink of danger.
Just when he thought Olyphia would never come back, the gorse door was pushed open again.
