Chapter 78 Eyeballs Will You Regret
"Miss Olyphia?" Darien was very surprised. He walked forward quickly and tried to help Olyphia who had fallen directly into the door.
Olivia looked a little disheveled, with her hair and clothes disheveled, and it looked like she had been running wildly for a long time.
"Thank you, Mr. Magician. Let me sit on the ground for a while. I'm so tired." Olivia gently pushed Darien's hand away and began to tear off her skirt and corset wildly.
Darien immediately closed his eyes and turned away.
Olivia grabbed the laces at her back and ripped the tightly tied waist knot with a fierce tug. The petticoat was also torn out from under the skirt. She lifted the hem of her skirt and rubbed her knees, and finally threw away the pair of high heels that were tripping her.
She looks like a female fighter who has broken free from all restraints and is about to rush to the battlefield.
The high heels hit the wall with a loud thud, startling Darien. He quickly asked, "Miss Olivia? Are you okay?"
Olivia stood up and said, "I feel so good now. I've never felt better."
Darien turned around at this time and said, "Do you want me to help you up? I noticed you didn't bring your cane this time."
Olivia nodded. "Thank you. Please lend me your arm."
She grabbed Darien's arm and was led to her seat.
Without Darien's instructions, Seville brought a pot of steaming hot black tea in time. Holding the teacup, Olivia told him what happened after she returned.
She returned to her room through the gorse door. Only a few minutes had passed since she left, but the maids, anxious not to find her, had already run out to report to the head maid.
When the head maid pushed open the door to the young lady's room, she was met with a pair of sparkling blue eyes.
"Miss Olyphia?" The head maid was so startled that she dropped the keychain in her hand. The extremely heavy copper keys hit her feet, but she didn't react at all.
"What's wrong, Grace?" Olyphia said with a smile. "You look surprised. Is it because I can see?"
"Yes, my lady." The head maid took a deep breath. The delayed pain suddenly swept across her feet. She endured the pain and picked up the key. "I must tell the master and the mistress quickly."
"It's a must, they will definitely be very happy for me!" said Olivia.
"Jenny! Laura! Go find the lady! Tell her that the young lady can see again! Go now! This is very important!" The head maid called the maid nearby.
The two maids immediately ran away.
Lady Jacqueline was very happy. She held up Olyphia's face and looked at it again and again, and kissed her cheeks several times. When Baron Randolph came back in the evening, he also looked at her face for a long time.
"Father, are you and Mother not used to seeing my new look?" Olivia asked.
"It's true that I'm a little uncomfortable with this. Your eyes make you look even more beautiful. Good boy, tell me, how do your eyes see the light?" asked Baron Randolph.
"I had a dream. I dreamed of a glowing god who kissed my eyes, and then my eyes were healed suddenly." Olivia kept her promise and did not tell anyone about the magic shop.
"Great, that's a good thing. We are going to hold a banquet to celebrate this the day after tomorrow. It is very worth celebrating. Jacqueline, take Olivia to make a new dress and make sure she is the most beautiful jewel at the banquet." said Baron Randolph.
So the banquet was finalized, and Olivia was manipulated like an exquisite doll, and she was indeed dazzling enough at the banquet that day.
Olivia was finally able to enjoy the treatment of a normal lady, but she did not feel happy.
She had clearly been looking forward to the banquet garden and other places for a long time, but when she could finally see them, she found that they were filled with gazes that made her uncomfortable.
Many people looked at her with inquiry and scrutiny, and her intuition told her that that was not normal.
After the banquet, her father, Baron Randolph, called her to his study and told her that a duke and an earl had proposed to her.
"I didn't know anything about that," Olivia said. "They didn't ask me to marry them."
"Of course I know. They asked me for my opinion first. Good boy, you choose one from them, one is younger and the other is older. They are both of equally noble status and have great wealth." said Baron Randolph.
"I don't want it. I don't know them, and they didn't come up to me and ask for my hand in marriage," said Olivia.
She was already a little angry. The two suitors were so rude and their behavior was full of contempt for her. Everything she had learned told her that this was wrong.
"I'll give you one day to think it over. If you don't make a decision after one day, I'll help you choose one. Think about it carefully." Baron Randolph's face suddenly turned cold.
Next, she lost her recently gained freedom and was locked in a room, where two maids were watching over her.
She was like a gift given to someone, but was just being kept temporarily.
When Olivia said this, she took a big gulp of hot tea and choked as expected.
"How are you, Miss Olivea? Would you like some refreshment?" Darien asked. "And your eyes, what's wrong with them?"
"I don't want snacks. I want meat. I want big chunks of meat." Olivia stopped coughing. She looked very hungry. "These new eyes are made of crystal and gemstones. They are stuffed into my eye sockets."
"Sevier, ask Mrs. Fitch to grill some lamb chops and bring up a plate of beef and fennel pie. Miss Olyphia must be starving," said Darien.
Olivia devoured half a plate of beef and fennel pastries before continuing her story.
She did not agree to the marriage, and her mother tried to persuade her, but after the persuasion failed, she became more strict in her supervision of her.
Her father chose the older earl for her because although he was older, he was richer.
The Count wanted to marry her as soon as possible, so he worked hard to make her wedding dress. At that time, she still held on to a glimmer of hope that her loving father and mother would reconsider the matter.
But they didn't.
After a few days, her eyeballs withered and fell out of their sockets. She thought the engagement would be cancelled, but it wasn't. Instead, a pair of beautiful eyeballs were made and stuffed into her empty eye sockets.
It was at this moment that Olivia suddenly realized that her parents did not love her as much as she had imagined.
So she ran as hard as she could for the first time, pushing the door open and falling to the stone floor of the shop before the maids could react.
"So you've made your decision?" Darien asked.
"Yes, I have made up my mind. I want a pair of eyes, a pair of eyes that can see the light," said Olivia.
"Your wish will come true." Darien paused and then asked her, "What about after you have a pair of eyes? Do you have any plans for the future?"
"I don't know," Olyphia said softly. "But it can't be any worse, can it?"
"I hope you won't regret your decision in the future," Darien said. "You will become a completely different person, which means you'll lose your old life. You won't be able to return to your familiar home. Are you willing to give up everything you once had?"
Olivia lowered her head, clutching the fabric of her skirt and began to think.
She used to live a wealthy life, with beautiful dresses and jewelry. She never worried about life and never went hungry. Although her blindness restricted her in many ways, she lived better than most people.
She ran away now because of the hastily arranged marriage. She didn't like being arranged so casually. She felt like she had become an object, valuable because of her beauty.
The earl who wanted to marry her was very wealthy, but no one knew what kind of person she was. They didn't know each other well, and such a marriage was almost foreseeable to have a tragic ending.
So what if you want beauty and a pair of eyes?
She would lose everything she had now, becoming an ordinary person without even an identity. What could she do? A governess, a maid, or...
Darien didn't interrupt her, but let her think quietly.
Olivia clenched the cloth in her hand. After a moment, she raised her head and finally made a decision: "I still need a pair of eyes. I don't want fake honey. They are wrapped in delicate wrapping paper, taste sweet but are mixed with gravel. I can't swallow them all because I can't deceive myself."
Darien laughed and said, "Miss Olivia, I'm glad you made this decision. Let's get started now."
Olivia became nervous. "Okay, okay, are we going to the stone altar again this time?"
Darien said, "No, this time it's much simpler. What color eyes do you prefer?"
Olivia thought for a moment and said, "I want a green like the Wizard. That's the color of leaves. When I sit by the window, I often listen to the sound of the wind blowing through them. That's the feeling of freedom. The feeling of freedom should be green."
Darien nodded: "Of course, this small request can be met."
Replacing limbs is the method used by wizards, and it requires some special potions. The materials are rather special and troublesome, and a pair of living eyes is a must.
Darian opened the cabinet and took out a jar of eyeballs. The eyeballs were floating in the water with red blood vessels swimming around. They were preserved using a special method that had something to do with the time crystal.
"Miss Olivia, do you know how to take off your false eyes? Do you want to do it yourself or should I help you?" he asked.
"I'll do it myself," Olivia said, picking her eyes.
Without the two fake eyeballs, her eyelids sank weakly, leaving two empty black holes behind them.
"Drink this potion first. It has an analgesic effect and the eyeball will be installed quickly, so there is no need to use a sleeping potion." Darien said.
"Okay." Oliphia took it and drank it all.
Darien asked Oliphia to lean back slightly while he dripped the potion into her empty eye sockets.
Olivia didn't feel any pain, but instead felt a piercing chill passing from her eye sockets to her brain.
After applying the medicine, Darian carefully picked up the eyeball and quickly stuffed it into the eye socket.
Then he quickly stuffed the second one in.
The blood vessels on the eyeball need time to penetrate into the flesh, so you will not feel or see for a short time after the eyeball is inserted.
Darien watched the eyeballs and quickly adjusted them so that Olivia wouldn't get cross-eyed or side-to-side squinting when using them.
After adjusting, the cooling potion was dripped again.
"Please close your eyes, rest for a while, count from 1 to 100 in your mind, then open your eyes and you will be able to see the light again," said Darien.
"Hmm." Olivia quickly closed her eyes.
While she was counting, Darien quickly called Sewell to pack up. When she opened her eyes again, she missed the terrifying movable eyeball jar.
"Thank you very much, Mr. Magician. Can you give me a mirror? I want to take a last good look at my face and say goodbye to myself." Oliphia requested.
